January 19, 201213 yr Statement from Anonymous... you take some of our favorite sites down > megavideo, megaupload we take yours down. fair is fair no? and thats just a taste of what is to come if you continue to censor our interwebz From that message, it appears that one of the websites it has taken down is dictionary.com
January 19, 201213 yr The United States of America should not be allowed to seek prosecution for a 'crime' committed in another country where this so called 'crime' isn't actually a crime. The European Union does not consider linking to be a crime, but the United States does. Or rather the EU used to think it wasn't a crime. Some countries have been influenced by Washingwood and are now blocking access to 'infringing' sites. The sheer arrogance of the American's makes me irrationally angry. They should be brought up in front of the ICC on charges of human rights violations. The US is quick enough to condemn China et al but this SOPA/PIPA is actually worse than what they have.
January 19, 201213 yr http://vimeo.com/31100268 That video explains PIPA rather well. It is highly likely to be the worst bit of legislation ever written.
January 19, 201213 yr Author MPAA and The White-wash also attacked....  :yahoo: http://rt.com/usa/news/anonymous-doj-universal-sopa-235/
January 19, 201213 yr The take down of Megaupload gives precedence to take down all the file sharing websites despite them being used for legal purposes as well as illegal ones. International Law should prevent the US government from arresting foreign citizens on foreign soil and shutting foreign websites.

January 20, 201213 yr This is officially war via the Internet. Do they really have to push it this far? What even gives the US the rights to tell the New Zealand authorities to arrest someone on someone else's territory? New Zealand should've just said no tbh. Edited January 20, 201213 yr by Oricon
January 20, 201213 yr I hope anonymouse don't stop, this is just what they deserve for shutting down megaupload. It really saddens me is that this isn't getting more attention. There are some people who'll only start caring when they log on to the web and there's a big "THE INTERNET IS DEAD" plastered over their web browser. <_< For such a widely used medium, people don't seem to care about the internet. I guess they're perfectly happy going back to playing tic tac toe all day and staring at the wall if the internet were to be ruined forever. Edit: Hmm I found this on a youtube video, paste it into your address bar: http://109.236.83.66/ Megaupload are trying to go online again. I'm not entirely sure if it's legit. There are some people who'll only start caring when they log on to the web and there's a big "THE INTERNET IS DEAD" plastered over their web browser. <_> I can only refer you to the words attributed to Pastor Martin Niemoller First they came for the communists, and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a communist. Then they came for the trade unionists, and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a trade unionist. Then they came for the Jews, and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a Jew. Then they came for the Catholics, and I didn't speak out because I was Protestant. Then they came for me and there was no one left to speak out for me.
January 20, 201213 yr Author Well, what all these arrests under the caveat of "copyright law" has proven is that the likes of Liberty were right all along, all these laws and bits of legislation that were supposedly all about "prevention of terrorism" are now being used to kill the internet. The people who the FBI have arrested have been effectively "rendered" to the US. And so-called "democratically elected representatives" sit on their hands and do nothing...
January 20, 201213 yr I'm more pissed off at Megavideo disappearing :( It was by far the best tool to watch TV series or movies online :( UGH If a file was legally uploaded, why the hell should it be taken down? I wouldnt get arrested for borrowing a DVD from a friend of mine that bought it right? Pisses me off.
January 20, 201213 yr The Kiwi DoJ website is down, as it the MGM shop. This is also the full list of known sites shut down via AnonOps: Department of Justice (Justice.gov) Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA.org) Universal Music (UniversalMusic.com) Belgian Anti-Piracy Federation (Anti-piracy.be/nl/) Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA.org) Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI.gov) HADOPI law site (HADOPI.fr) U.S. Copyright Office (Copyright.gov) Universal Music France (UniversalMusic.fr) Senator Christopher Dodd (ChrisDodd.com) Vivendi France (Vivendi.fr) The White House (Whitehouse.gov) BMI (BMI.com) Warner Music Group (WMG.com) The senate vote on PIPA has been postponed.
January 20, 201213 yr If people got on board it would potentially be a big deal but there's just no way a large amount of people will be able to hold out for a month, especially as this starts in March. It will have all died down amongst the general public by then. Black February would be smarter but even then it doesn't strike me as something that would get off the ground. Are you sure? I checked the fbi website a few times today (and just now) and it's still online.
January 20, 201213 yr Will this work though.... To be fair, I do think there are a substantial amount of internet users who won't take this lying down and accept it. Even if the majority are happy to just let it happen. Mass Effect 3 is coming out in March....the black march thing might struggle...... Edited January 20, 201213 yr by Sabrewulf
