No way. I can't really think of a signature hit for him but it's probably one of his F.A.M.E singles.

I can agree with With You for Chris (or maybe Run It! or Forever). From F.A.M.E., Beautiful People wasn't big everywhere (and people might not even know it's a Chris Brown song tbh), Look At Me Now was only big with teenagers, the rest of the population probably don't know the song, and Yeah 3x doesn't seem very memorable tbh.

He doesn't really have one particular song that stands out as a signature hit really. Maybe in 10 years it'll become more clear with some of these artists.

I definitely agree about 'Umbrella', in fact I think 'Only Girl (In the World)' is closer to being a signature hit than 'We Found Love'.

I agree. Umbrella had so much more impact when it was out, and is still really well known today.

For Girls Aloud I'd say Sound of the Underground is their most well-known song.

For Girls Aloud I'd say Sound of the Underground is their most well-known song.

I also think the fact it sold 500k in 2007 and now has total sales of over 800k proves how popular it is. The video is also quite memorable for me, more so than 'We Found Love' or 'Only Girl'.

Yeah, I'm pushing more to 'Sound of the Underground' too, followed by 'The Promise', then 'Love Machine' which I completely forgot about for a moment! It's one of those "I can't believe it wasn't a number one" songs, so I think deserves a mention as one of their signature hits.

I think Girls Aloud's signature hit is between 'Sound of the Underground' and 'Love Machine'. I suggest LM because it's gone beyond the realms of just being a pop song. It's found its way into popular culture imo.

In regards to Pink, I actually think she is a rare example of a long-term artist who is yet to actually have a proper signature track. She's not had a monster hit like Britney's '...Baby One More Time' and she's never had a track as controversial as 'Dirrty' by Christina Aguilera - I know 'So What', 'Get This Party Started' and 'Just Give Me A Reason' have all been big hits worldwide but none of them are iconic or stand out that much when it comes to Pink's discography.

Before 'So What', I had never heard any of P!nk's songs aside from 'Get This Party Started', so I definitely say that's one of her signature songs based on that, among other factors. 'Just Give Me a Reason' doesn't feel like it's a signature song for P!nk, even though it has been absolutely massive worldwide - I've just checked the Wikipedia page for it and it's number one in like 20 countries! So I'm not sure, perhaps in a few more years it may stand out more obviously in terms of it being a signature song.

'So What' I think for me may just edge 'Get This Party Started'. I know 'So What' is played on TV still so much today, whereas I very rarely see 'Get This Party Started'. I think 'F*ckin' Perfect' is worth a mention too, just because of the issue it addresses lyrically and in the video. It's certainly grabbed the attention of the majority of my friends and they've been able to relate with it a lot.

For me, I think 'Sound of the Underground' and 'The Promise' are more iconic than 'Call the Shots'. 'Sound of the Underground' was completely different to any other winner's single at the time and reaches out to people outside of Girls Aloud's fan base - I know a few people who dislike "chart music" but still think 'Sound of the Underground' is good. As for 'The Promise', it was big at a time which for me was when Girls Aloud were at the height of their fame and there was a huge buzz about that song.

On the subject of Madonna's signature hit, may I not at all plug a thread about it in the Madonna AF...

I know 'The Promise' should be closer to a signature hit than 'Call the Shots', since it sold so much more in the same (or nearly the same) general sales climate, but for some reason it just doesn't feel like 'The Promise' has aged as well to me. I'd be surprised if Call the Shots didn't get more sales and airplay on a weekly basis than 'The Promise' does these days.

'Sound of the Underground' does definitely have a case for being their signature hit though, I did struggle to decide between that and CTS.

The list you put in that thread about 'Like a Prayer' being Madonna's most-downloaded track, and 'Like a Virgin' only 8th, is interesting. I guess it goes back to the question about whether a signature hit is an artist's most remembered song, or their most liked song. Because I think if you took a survey on the street, 'Like a Virgin' would probably come top for Madonna's most memorable song (though arguably more because of the impact it had on pop culture at the time, rather than the song itself), whereas 'Like a Prayer' would come top for most liked.

I know that 'Call the Shots' has spent the most time in the charts (Top 200) than any other Girls Aloud songs, if that accounts for anything.

Yeah I agree with you there. It's definitely an interesting one, but I think now it's clear that it is out of 'Like a Prayer' and 'Like a Virgin', with 'Hung Up' third as I'm sure if you asked people my age, they would probably say that (or at least "the one with that sample" :P). Perhaps the ITV series "Nation's Favourite..." should do a Madonna version to settle this a bit more.

Just Give Me A Reason could become P!nk's signature hit in a few years' time. We'll see!

I'm highly against 'Hung Up' being suggested as a signature song and no mention of 'Vogue'.

I agree she doesn't have a signature song per se, but 'Like A Prayer' is most definitive.

LMFAO - Everyday im Shufflin

1. There isn't an LMFAO song called "Everyday im Shufflin"

2. I would argue that "Sexy And I Know It" is their signature song, despite "Party Rock Anthem" selling more copies. SAIKI is very well-known, spent more weeks in the chart than PRA, and has more novelty appeal. I'm sure it'll be used in talent shows for many years by people who don't take themselves seriously.

Signature tracks from some of Buzzjack's most cherished artists:

Sweet - Blockbuster!

T Rex - Get It On (Bang a Gong)

Slade - Merry Xmas Everyone/Cum on Feel the Noize

AC/DC - Back in Black

Metallica - Enter Sandman

Iron Maiden - Run to the Hills

The Smiths - This Charming Man

Sweet's is The Ballroom Blitz, surely.

'Call The Shots' SHOULD be GA's signature song as it shits over everything else they released from a great height (and I don't even dislike them). Same goes for Madonna's 'Frozen'. But neither of them actually are their respective artist's signature hit, shame.

I agree 'Sexy And I Know It' has surpassed 'Party Rock Anthem' in all but sales. For how massive 'PRA' was at the time I never hear it anywhere now whereas 'SAIKI' has never really left.

Arrested Development - People Everyday

The Shamen - Eberneezer Goode

SL2 - On A Ragga Tip

Kriss Kross - Jump

Soulja Boy Tell'Em - Crank That (Soulja Boy)

Are all of you KIDDING me? Party Rock Anthem is still widely regarded by EVERYONE! People still talk about it as much as they used to!

If we're talking about songs which looked like they were going to be remembered but never really were, my main example would be Love The Way You Lie.

Hang on, 'Call the Shots' is most definitely not GA's signature hit. It's not remembered at all by the general public - it's never heard on the radio and is never on the music channels. There's also nothing iconic about it or "novelty"/"memorable" which a few of there other hits have. Also, you can't decide what's a signature hit based on sales and chart runs. CTS was released in a better sales climate than most of their earlier singles and it was also released in the download era which would allow it to stick around longer than if it was released pre-2007. Everyone knows the "I'm just a love machine..." line or at least the melody while I doubt many people out of GA's fanbase could remember 'Call the Shots'.

And regarding Madonna, I'd say 'Vogue' is without a doubt Madonna's signature track just on name alone. The song title, the dance, the actual lyrics/melody, the video - now that is song that went beyond just being a pop song. It was iconic.

Well it's iconic to me :( By a long shot the best girlgroup single ever.

I really don't think you're grasping the definition of a signature hit.

'Sexy and I Know It' has the novelty factor which instantly makes it far more memorable. In ten years time, people who are just getting into music will probably see the song title of PRA and won't be able to know how it goes yet SAIKI will still be present on the radio/music channels/clubs.

It may be a great song but it really hasn't left a legacy. Just like with Britney, '...Baby One More Time' is obviously her signature hit but I think 'Everytime'/'I'm A Slave 4 U' are in a completely different league.

And best girlgroup single? I'd go with 'Waterfalls' myself.

Madonna - Like a Virgin or Hung Up :)

Robbie Williams - Angels
