Came across this awesome song via Steve Lamacq. Although it's sampling of PSAs and the title of the song might make it seem very Boards of Canada-ish, it actually shares more in common with Lemon Jelly than anything else. It's rather awesome:

Love how they've written a track glorifying a British war machine which totally references German motorik and musik cosmische.

Anyway great track.

I think I prefer Spitfire over ROYGBIV now. The EP it came from, The War Room, sold enough copies to qualify for the indie album chart, and it's getting lots of playlist play on 6music. They could end up being one of the more leftfield breakthrough artists of the year if they keep things up.

Just been to see them in Salisbury. Absolutely brilliant and lots of other superlatives. Definitely my favourite new band of 2012.

Lucky you. I know they'd been looking at coming to Ireland in November, but I don't think they were able to get anything sorted.

Anyway, they've got a new single coming out on November 12th, entitled 'Everest'. It's about Mount Everest (funnily enough), it's one of their dreamier songs. Reminds me of Crockett's Theme in some places.

It's a long time since I've seen a band in such a small venue. The place was packed but that meant about 150 people. The sort of place where the band can hear every shout from the crowd.

I was right at the front, i.e a couple yards from J. Wilgoose Esq. and could see the look on both their faces when the crowd recognised some of the songs almost immediately, e,g, the siren at the start of London Can Take It. I'm seeing them again in a couple weeks when they are the support act for someone I've never heard of so it will be interesting to see how different it is. No doubt there will be people who have never heard of PSB and might be a bit confused.

Everest is yet another brilliant single but, as you say, a little different from their previous work.

Interesting. It's a bit like the Avalanches - the way they've sampled old recordings from the 40s.

Although I've not heard anything so far that surpasses the excellent samples of comedy classic "Polyester". http://www.moopy.org.uk/forums/images/smilies/grin.gif

Just seen them again tonight at a local venue. They were only the support act but still did a 50 minute set. Both this time and last I've been surprised at the age of the audience. There were a lot more older people than I would have expected. I'm pleased to say they got a good response.

Really like PSB - wonder how the Pet Shop Boys feel about them muscling in on their acronym? The War Room EP had real highlights and, yes, you're right - very Lemon Jelly.

Shall be seeing their live show for myself a week from today. Can't wait.

It's a rather different live experience. Enjoy!

So I'm told, I love it when you get to see something original. Thanks!

Just listened to Everest out of curiosity and really loved it - tracked down their EP on itunes and am going to download.

Its weirdly brilliant :D

A slight curiosity - the full version of the If War Should Come film used in the PSB song of the same name is on Sky Arts 2 tonight at 11.00.

So the band's debut album, "Inform - Educate – Entertain" will be released in May. The band released a new song today which won't feature on the album, called "New Dimensions In Sound", which is rather nice. And it's available as a free download.

Listening to the album as we speak. A real contender for album of the year.

Can't wait to hear it. I do like the new single "Signal 30".

"No drinking and driving"

"Not even beer?"

"Not even water!"

*Crashing sound*
