Really? Of the tracks that people had down as a big contender, I'd say 'My Crown' (sorry Tom) would more likely miss the top 10 than 'Flares'. I still think both will finish comfortably inside the top 10.

I hope people are actually listening to the songs and not just assuming the top 6 other people are putting at the bottom aren't good.

I didn't actually choose Scherzland's entry, it was recommended to me by someone who won this contest previously.

I'm getting the feeling that the song is coming close to the bottom because of the country and not because of the song. In terms of quality, it's just as good as the songs nearer the top in most peoples predictions.

And it can't be a matter of taste, because I was going to send 'Call Me Maybe' I just got in there too late.

I'm more confident in Flares than any of my last few entries purely because I've already seen it in quite a few personal charts (and the multichart), and it's had good feedback from other nations who don't chart BJSC entries until after the competition. It looks like it should have enough momentum to make the top ten, from what I've seen! I hope so anyway, I'm so obsessed with it, it even crept past the power duo of Titanium and Somebody That I Used To Know to top my own chart!

There are a few entries that people are continually predicting top half that have had very little buzz/vocal support in this forum, and that I haven't seen in any personal charts as yet, so either people are just keeping quiet about their love for them until after the results, for whatever reason, or those are the songs that might be the 'shock' underperformers.

For me at least, that isn't the case. Had you got to Call Me Maybe first then I'd be predicting Scherzland to come 2nd this month! This will be Ramrynia's first top ten anyway, so it's not like everybody's basing the song doing well on the previous form of that nation :o

Ultimately they're just predictions, and in reality people vote with their ears and not on the basis of odds or predictions. If it's deemed good enough across the board to come top five then it will, regardless of whether it finished last in every set of odds! A few songs I will be voting for this month are doing VERY badly in the predictas/odds, I still love them though!

Hmm, you all make valid points. And the only reason that I didn't predict it top 10 was because Flares simply slipped my mind somehow.

I'm reluctant to change, for the predicta's sake, but I can't see Flares any lower than 14th, certainly...

I kept seeing Bear Hug in loads of personal charts, and that still didn't qualify, but there are going to be a couple of continual top 10 predictions that aren't going to do well, no matter the showings around the forum, there always is. I'm just really hoping it's not me this time (:drama:), and I'm quite confident, for the first time since I started entering, my entry is genuinely my favourite of all the tracks entered, in the previous 4 contests, I always managed to find a track I liked better in the end. And this is still a strong contest.

And another factor is, Criminal is one of them songs that do mid-table best but tend to stick to the bottom of the finals sadly. I like it myself as well. Maybe it's because it sounds quite generic and hence people tend to not vote for it as much so hence people predicting it near the bottom.

For me it's a shame because I'm such a pop lover that I think this contest's Top 10 is going to stink bar a track or 2. All the tracks I always like end up at the bottom of the pile <_<

I think Bear Hug could have done alright had it made the final, that's probably the wrong semi curse, aside from Tom Kay most of its fans were in Semi 2, including me. I did provisional votes for Semi 1 as I always do for the opposite semi and I'd have given it 10...

I have to say though that most of the personal charts that I've seen it in are those of non BJSC participants. Still, I was expecting it to be a safe qualifier, maybe it was too retro/90s to do well, and the vocal isn't the most accessible male singing voice ever either.

Well, there's so much generic pop this month, it's not going to be concentrated in votes at all, and sink. There's fewer tracks than there normally are in this month's final that'll appeal to the indie voters, and the crossover voters are likely to go for the tracks at the top. I think it's possibly easier to call across the board this month.

That'll be me then.

I prefer to keep quiet about which tracks I'm liking the most. If everyone already knows which 10 songs I like the most then when my votes are revealed in the final, people can just scroll down as there would no element of "oh wow, thanks Hits for the points" as they would know they were getting Batidas love in advance. :P

I find that too hard! It spills out eventually. But since my mind about the voting order changes so drastically and I normally find more than 10 tracks I want to vote for in any given contest, no-one should know HOW many points they are getting from me, and me loving a song doesn't always equal points, sadly.

Yeah, unless I see one of my entries at somebody's personal chart #1, knowing that I was responsible for that happening, I would never 'expect' points from anybody, and it surprises me each month when the results threads are going on live and people say 'oh, I was expecting more points from X' rather than being thankful for what they were given  Even my 1 pointer is something that I massively love more often than not, so I look at even 1 point from somebody as a 'thanks very much!' than a 'only one point :(' reaction!

A pessimist is never disappointed, expect zero from everybody and every score will be a bonus

The Ashton//Mdice pairing is very very very odd. Ben rarely gives me points and I'm pretty sure the last time Ashton gave Mdice any points was BJSC XXI when he entered Dragonette - Pick Up The Phone, and even then that DNQ'd so the last final points they got from me was BJSC XIX for Daisy Dares You.

Our music taste has very very little cross over.

That being said, Butterflies did pick up a 12. Although I can't see Look Back getting any points from Mdice.

The two things bolded REALLY annoy me. I mean I get that sometimes you know someone loves your entry, and thus you may think 'ooh big points for me!' but you can never be 100% sure. As Eyes said, me loving a track doesn't always mean I give it points. You should just be thankful for whatever you get, no points are 'only' to me, because even getting one point is good, certainly better than nothing. I always just go 'thanks for the points _____' whether it's a 12 or a 1.

Indeed, one point can make all the difference in a close contest!

My music tastes extend beyond the 50 songs per week in my personal chart, or 10 songs out of 30 that I'm restricted to voting for, so if I don't give you points it doesn't mean that I don't like your song, just perhaps less than the others in the field.

And if it doesn't appear in my personal chart it doesn't mean that you won't get points, on weak months I've often only charted three BJSC entries in my top 50! What you NEED to look at is my unpublished weekly playlist (that I'm never going to show anyone :P) that often stretches to 300 songs! A top 50 just makes it more manageable to sort out what I'm liking the most, I'm not going to have a personal chart top 300 just so I can namecheck every single song that I like in some way

Nice to see Foxes predicted to finish top 10. I still have no real idea what to expect, I really think it deserves to finish in the top 10 (well I would I guess :D ) but I can see it being one of those tracks that picks up quite a few votes between 1 and 5 and ends up about 12th or so. I think being in the same contest as the likes of SoSo, MNDR and Le Kid will mean that the votes for all of them will be spread more thinly.

That's why I think Flares will do really well (and challenge for top 3 imo) as it's not like anything else in the contest.

I don't think Foxes will win personally. But I'd be shocked to see it any less than 6th. It's a brillaint track, but I just can't see it having a wide appeal with the purepop voters who are really very dominant this month.

Flares deserves a 3rd but at the very least it should stroll into the top 5 with ease.

I might do a Predicta for once! :o

Predict the top 10 of the final [50 points available - 5 points for each correct position, 3 points for being one position off, 1 point for being two positions off; an extra 10 points if you predict all the countries correctly, regardless of how they finish in the top ten]

31. B.a.N.G : Lydia Caesar - Lottery

Very strange Predicta there Pavel. Call Me Maybe has enough vocal support to make it a top15 cert, there is no way that it's going to be bottom 5.
Well, it's... different. Aside from what would involve me failing miserably, I wouldn't mind seeing the results unfold like that, would be interesting.
