February 21, 201214 yr Blur will be performing five songs in 11 minutes. They will then be doing Tender  which will be shown on ITV2 after the main ceremony. Top 5 Blur singles 1 Tender 2 The Universal 3 Out Of Time 4 Girls & Boys 5 Song 2 Girls & Boys will always get extra points as it rescued their career. If it had been a flop then Parklife may well have bombed meaning end of career.
February 21, 201214 yr I expect Gotye will return to no1, Emeli Sande stay at 2 and DJ Fresh down to 3 in the singles. In the albums, Adele could surprise us all and return to no1 due to Brits effect. I don't understand, how can Gotye return once he has left?? It's over for him.

February 21, 201214 yr I don't understand, how can Gotye return once he has left?? It's over for him. Erm, because he's been way ahead on iTunes since Sunday? I think he will lead in tomrorow's midweeks. I do think Emeli will push ahead by the end of the week though.
February 21, 201214 yr My Blur favourites; 1. Song 2 2. There's No Other Way 3. End Of A Century 4. Parklife 5. To The End I already have the Best Of... so won't be buying it again. From memory, that album under-performed (as far as I was concerned, compared with my expectations of what it deserved), so I hope it makes a return to the top 10.
February 21, 201214 yr Blur top 5: 1. Song 2 2. Tender 3. Parklife 4. Girls & Boys 5. Coffee & TV I feel I don't appreciate Blur as much as I should (maybe because I always much preferred Oasis  ), they've had some pretty great songs! I look forward to their performance tonight :D I'm never a big fan fo returns to number 1, but Gotye is definitely the best option atm, so I'll br supporting that this week Edited February 21, 201214 yr by C.W
February 21, 201214 yr As my favourite act of all time, it pains me to see so many people include 'Girls & Boys' in the top 5. For me, their worst ever single! Suedehead may make a good point, but I still don't like it much. 4/10.
February 21, 201214 yr I don't know many Blur songs - in fact I pretty much only know enough to make a top 5  1 Song 2 2 Coffee & TV 3 Tender 4 Parklife 5 Girls & Boys (don't really like this at all so it's there by default) I'm sure I do know other Blur songs but no others ring a bell looking at their discography.
February 21, 201214 yr Girls & Boys is all about that bassline. It's fantastic. Anywho, top BluR songs: 1. She's So High 2. The Universal 3. Song 2 4. Tender 5. Tracy Jacks (how this didn't get the single treatment is beyond me) Edited February 21, 201214 yr by Brett-Butler

February 21, 201214 yr Oh dear :kink: I'm such a silly sausage  . Anyway, does anyone think that Blur's medley at the Brits tonight will see any of their songs reach the top 40? I can see Parklife possible re-entering if they perform it, possibly Song 2 as well.
February 21, 201214 yr I doubt it. Robbie Williams for example didn't manage any top 40 hits when he did the Outstanding Contribution medley. I could see Parklife and Song 2 possibly re-entering in the low top 100 but no higher.

To be honest I'm not sure if you'd know many more. You should definitely know Country House, and The Universal has been used on adverts in the recent past, I'd very surprised if you didn't recognise Charmless Man or There's No Other Way too. Going through Last.fm Girls & Boys is 49th most played Blur song, which says it all.... A top 5 of Beetlebum, Coffee & TV, Tender, To The End and This Is a Low. I'd probably swap Out Of Time for To The End though in picking my favourites, too hard to order though.

I could see Parklife and Song 2 possibly re-entering in the low top 100 but no higher. But with Robbie Williams, most people would have owned most of the tracks already, given that each of his albums have sold about 10,000,000 copies each (bar Rudebox, which has sold approximately 17). As you've pointed out, a lot of the Brit Award's audience would be unfamiliar with much of Blur's output, and they've sold nowhere near as many records as Robbie (I don't even think "Parklife", their biggest selling album, has broken through the million mark, but correct me if I'm wrong) therefore more people seem likely to go out and download their songs.

Tracy Jacks is quite wonderful, but I'm not sure where they'd have fit it in as a single. The four released are regarded as amongst their best, although End of a Century less so. And This is a Low is always going to be remembered as their best track that was never a single, also on Parklife.

I don't know about sales but 'Parklife' is 4x platinum, and 'The Great Escape' 3x, nothing else has even managed 2x though, just their first Best Of.

I don't think it normally works like that though - after big performance slots by certain artists (see Coldplay at Glastonbury for example) it's their higher selling and more well-known songs that get the biggest sales boosts. Applying that to artists it would follow that the bigger/more well-known the artist, the bigger their sales boost. I don't know though. I can't personally see Blur making a huge impact but we shall see anyway. (I certainly think their Best Of will make a decent re-entry on the albums though - but again I expect Adele to see one of the biggest boosts in terms of actual units despite having by far the highest selling album).

If you're a Virgin Media customer you have my sympathy Blur's Hyde Park concert is available via their music on demand service. A great way to spend a couple hours :D
February 21, 201214 yr My top 5 are; 1 Parklife 2 Country House 3 Song 2 4 Girls & Boys 5 Coffee & TV (best video) Hopefully Madness next year? it's about time. This video is absolute genius. Even my kids love it despite being born after it was a hit!
