I was watching some Melodifestivalen video earlier on YouTube and Dead By April 'Mystery' made my poor ears bleed. It's Linkin Park meets Limp Bizkitt only much worse. I just can't class someone going "aaaagghhh" into a microphone as singing.

 

Thorsten Flinck's song is also dull as. :( 'Mirakel' disappoints me in that there's a decent song in there but it's masked by the old man talking all over it. ** shudders ** Finally, Danny Saucedo sounds like he's trying to do Chris Brown. 'Amazing' sounds like the type of song Chris Brown would record. In fact, listen to his new single 'Turn Up The Music' and there are quite a few similarities (mainly the painful high notes).

I was actually thinking when I was walking home from school and Amazing came on shuffle on myiPod that he sounds IDENTICAL to Chris Brown when he sings 'don't be afraid' in the 2nd verse :o

His atrocious gruff voice and the lack of anything resembling a melody (imo, naturally - each to their own :P) go some way to explaining the hate from this corner! Yet still there are four songs I like even less - Top Cats = horrible genre, always hated it, OPA = useless waste of a slot, would be rejected from the Greek NF in a heartbeat, Thomas Di Leva = melody free dirge from a very disturbing character, The Moniker = crap country & western inspired muck from an awful artist who at least brought a decent, catchy song along for the ride last year. I like everything in my top 22 though, my 23-26 are ok and Sanningen is just there, I have no strong feelings about it one way or the other.

Now come on, I think it's stretching things just a BIT to claim Jag reser mig igen and Ge aldrig upp are melody free, rather than that you just don't like the voices on them! They're both quite melodious, just not particularly great...

It's hidden VERY deep beneath his awful vocals and I've only listened to it four times. The three times we've been subjected to it so far during the live heats and once when I listened to the CD in full. On no occasion did I pick out the melody and nor do I wish to inflict the song on myself again voluntarily to attempt to hunt for one! I couldn't hum it to you if my life depended on it.

That Thornsten thing randomly appears on shuffle and unlike Euphoria it was skipped straight past. The first few seconds were offensive enough.

Maybe he just sounds better for Scandinavians :wub:

 

He kinda reminds me of a Swedish Leonard Cohen, only Thorsten isn't that old and looks much worse :P

The song is quite melodious, and the lyrics are great :)

How is Maria BenHajji's "basic bitch ballad" (as Tyrren would definitely say) not in the bottom six of all of these lists? So bland, I would've died right there had I not been alarmed she was going to set the place on fire.

Didn't you rank Thorsten an 8/10 at one point? And I'd honestly rather listen to Thorsten again than OPA, so not that ridiculous if it's a person's opinion :o

Who knows, other people have ranked Thorsten in their top ten so it's quite possible that you'd love it :o

 

I don't like traditional Greek music, only if it's mixed with poppier elements a la Helena Paparizou/Antique etc...just my personal taste :(
