iTunes has not changed for the past 12 or so hours. Jason Mraz has been stuck at #40 for too long and Marcus should be a lot higher after his DOI performance.

I'm pretty sure that when it goes back to normal; Marcus will be back in the top 10, Alexandra will be at #3 and Jason Mraz would have climbed to around the high 30s.

ALEXANDRA FOR #1; I'M GETTING USED TO ELEPHANT A LOT NOW AND I REALLY LIKE IT!!!!

I don't think Alexandra will be top 5 come Sunday, I am predicting around #6-7, I am sure she will be incredibly front loaded.

I think so too - still, that's a good position considering the major radio stations have ignored her.

Still, if Collide charting at #4 threw Leona's career off in such a big way, I wonder what will happen to Alex?

Collide was released in a week were there was much competition, Elephant has been released in a dead week and is struggiling to get into the top 5.

I really don't think these artists should worry so much if their songs dont get to #1 (ahem Dappy).

They should be lucky to be getting such incredible support that most artists (as someone mentioned earlier) could only dream of. Top 5 in the UK is still an incredible achievement!

True, I initially thought that the sales climate when Leona released would have been poorer than it is now, but a look back reveals exactly as you say:-

2 Maroon 5/Christina 82,437

3 Saturdays 68,922

4 Leona Lewis 51,913

5 Example 48,854

Top 5 w/e 17 March 2012

2 Emeli Sande 54,909

'struggling'.....? It's in the top 5......

Lee sees what he wants to see, he has been hoping Elephant would barely scrape the Top 10.

 I thought that too.

It could have climbed higher into the top 5 too, but we'll have to see when iTunes updates again...

Who can view the popbars on itunes, how big is the gap to 4. What a pain for livepopbars to go down this week.

No one, iTunes itself have an error. The pop bars are messed up, the top 90 have almost exactly the same bars. Livepopbars and Kworb just copying these strange bars.

True, but this is Sony we're talking about - the same ones who has delayed Glassheart FOR AN ENTIRE YEAR due to Collide "only" getting to #4

I guess Alex is lucky that she at least got away from the hacks at (p)SyC(h)o.

Looking at these sales, this March Collide couldn't enter much higher either. :(

Wasn't Collide C-listed on Radio 1 and playlisted on Capital aswell?. She also had that red & black performance infront of 6 million viewers.

To be fair, it was the more the label's reaction to Collide getting to #4 that f***ed Leona over than Collide itself. A #4 was perfectly fine for the first single as long as they had a good second single up their sleeves. But of course they figured what the public really wanted from Leona was an EP of uninspired covers!

I can't get round the fact that Syco could mess up someone like Leona Lewis so badly. She was unstoppable in 2007/2008, and yet she's pretty much been invisible since then with the annual X-Factor appearance of her singing a rock cover. Interest in her has faded so badly and there's no hype around her at all any more. When 'Glassheart' is released it'll have been three years since her last album, and in the UK that's a long time. Just look at what's happened to the likes of Duffy, Kate Nash, Avril Lavigne, Christina Aguilera and The Ting Tings who were all "credible" artists and left it too long between albums.

It sometimes makes me laugh at how optimistic people can be on here. Lots of airplay is good because more people get to hear it, yet little airplay is also good because people will be more likely to buy a song if they haven't heard it too much. Make your minds up!

And Lucie Silvas, Breathe In was pretty successful and is certified Platinum, yet The Same Side was a #62 smash hit sophomore album...

Regretfully, I think that is what the majority of people who would buy Leona Lewis material would prefer.

Surely though signing with Simon Cowell and Syco they know what they are getting into. His interest in acts rarely lasts long, until he gets the new toy in a new Winner. It is a shame for not just Leona and Alex but Shayne and Joe who was treated terribly. Syco have little interest in taking the time to build long term success and careers. Will Young did it the right way and he has a career that has lasted 10 years.

But that's the deadlock way. The amount of those people who buy Leona Lewis material is getting smaller and smaller, and that's why she needed a song like 'Collide'. But now it will be very hard for her to get out of her current emploi and stay credible, especially after 'Collide's flop and lack of confidence in her by her record label.
