That's no slight to Hung Up though, it's still excellent, I just think GGG is such a more joyous use of the backing track and could probably listen to it all day. That's my ABBA #2, I think.

 

And you were right about that Ag song (I Won't Let You Go), John, it is great on first listen. *.* to that chorus.

Hung Up is a monstrosity that rapes the soul of Gimme Gimme Gimme. imo.

Glad to see "Angeleyes" in your Top 20. Agree with your opinion, it's better song, than "Voules-Vouz".

"As Good As New" was in my top 40.

Never was a fan of "Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!", it's very overplayed and not good song. Same about "Hung Up"

"Tiger" is the only 1 worst song from "Arrival" for me.

I didn't count the instrumental track and "Fernando" (worst ABBA song in my eyes), which didn't include in original version.

Once again we find ourselves in 1976, with the Arrival album, this time with it's 3rd UK single. Unlike the others however this didn't reach #1, which I think is a massive shame as it's really quite splendid. It's more dramatic than the rest, or perhaps melodramatic, with heavy drums making their way into the production. I think the general feeling towards this is probably NOT as favourable as I see it too. I seem to recall it landing outside the top 20 in that ABBA countdown thing a few years ago. Oh well, I love it a lot. The Merly version from Mamma Mia with the RIDICULOUS GRUNTING before the final chorus is also a thing to behold, but for entirely more ironic reasons.

Ha! Oh God, I had hoped this had been forgotten about. Not sure I even have the list anymore, but I'm sure I can approximate it given the POPULAR DEMAND.

Too many Buzzcountdowns only reveal the bottom half and then disappear into a void, the top half is the best bit!

I got The Essential Collection, 2xCD and DVD edition for £8 today :wub: Such a bargain, I never even realised there was a Spanish version of When All Is Said And Done. So good to have some of these videos finally!

A song most people probably know best from Mamma Mia, but it was a single, somewhere. As with much of the latter day ABBA output, this is essentially a lament, but wrapped up in supremely catchy musical arrangements. This one isn't about divorce though, but rather about the passage of time and specifically a mother (or father I guess, they did write it) looking at their child and thinking 'where did it all go?'. Of course this has an extra layer of meaning for ABBA who were touring the world around the time this was written.
