 6. Mercy (feat. Big Sean, Pusha T, 2 Chainz) - Kanye West

Anyone remember how long H•A•M stayed in the upper reaches of the chart? I may be wrong but I'm sure this is holding up far better (and in the UK as well, despite it only peaking at #36 here while H•A•M went as high as #8 or 9).

Yeah I don't understand the strategy of releasing Heart Vacancy next. Sappy, insipid... it's like an N Sync song straight out of 1999 (and sorry but Timberlake would be able handle the falsetto much better). I can't imagine pop radio will play it.

Their other ballads (All Time Low, Lightning, Gold Forever) are all much better lyrically, far more modern sounding, and better position The Wanted as a hipper, edgier One Direction.

I can't remember how H.A.M did in terms of longevity in the US, but I remember it was released the same week as Britney Spears and Avril Lavigne's lead singles too, and ended up at #2 sandwiched between them. That was quite an eventful week. It was probably fell very fast, it's so uncommercial.

I can't believe Mercy is climbing though! :o That's unexpected. It's getting a lot of airplay already though on urban stations, but I thought it would probably plummet to like #50 and then stabilize or slowly reclimb.

I think Heart Vacancy is also too old to be promoted in the US. It's almost 2 years ago now.

1. Somebody That I Used to Know (feat. Kimbra) - Gotye

6. Somebody That I Used to Know (Glee Cast Version) - Glee Cast

28. Fighter (Glee Cast Version) - Glee Cast

30. Hungry Like The Wolf / Rio (Glee Cast Version) - Glee Cast

60. I'm Still Standing (Glee Cast Version) - Glee Cast

71. Up Up Up (Glee Cast Version) - Glee Cast

fun. finally off #1. I don't think Gotye's lead is that big but he could stay there until the weekend when Saturday Night Live will boost him even more and I reckon he could be the one to knock fun. off #1 officially in a couple of weeks but he needs to close the airplay gap first (he's #2 on on-demand so there isn't as much of a problem there).

I was thinking that the original of "Up Up Up" could become a success after Glee's performance, much alike "We Are Young" (and "Jar of Hearts" in the UK - but that's a different genre). Where's it at now?
PLEASE don't let this horrible song go to number 1 <_< It's only big because people think they're like, totally indie for liking it

So that's Fun. off the #1 spot then...

oh well, it's been a fantastic run for the song so far. I would've never expected it to be anywhere near #1 a few months back!

The same (ridiculous) logic can be applied to fun. as well surely...?

Brilliant to see Gotye at #1, I hope he can get there on the Hot 100 shortly. I sould easily see fun. and Gotye having the 2 biggest selling singles of the year both in the US and the UK.

I guess thank you Glee <_<

Over on the Digital Songs chart, fun.'s "We Are Young" (featuring Janelle Monae) regains the No. 1 slot (up one) with 390,000 (up 7%) while last week's leader, Justin Bieber's "Boyfriend," falls to No. 3 with a still-big 295,000 (down 43%).

Meanwhile, Gotye's "Somebody That I Used to Know" (featuring Kimbra) climbs 3-2 (311,000; up 28%).

Thanks to a red-hot song in "We Are Young," Bieber's huge debut last week, and then Easter weekend sales, the Digital Songs chart's top two both sell 300,000 for the first time in successive weeks outside of the Christmas season.

One Direction's "What Makes You Beautiful" is up one to No. 4 (294,000; up 48%) and Nicki Minaj's "Starships" slips 4-5 despite a gain (232,000; up 14%).

Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe" moves 7-6 (216,000; up 19%), the Wanted's "Glad You Came" climbs 8-7 (209,000; up 24%) and Flo Rida's "Wild Ones" (featuring Sia) falls 6-8 (198,000; up 8%).

Katy Perry's "Part Of Me" is up one to No. 9 (138,000; up 13%) and Kelly Clarkson's "Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You)" slips one to No. 10 (137,000; up less than 1%).

Lately Glee has been picking up on songs after they've already achieved significant popularity (Glad You Came, Somebody That I Used to Know) and merely helped them rise faster. The big exception is We Are Young I guess. I actually wish Glee would lift more unique songs out of obscurity vs. piggybacking on the already established success of a song.

Well at least for a change someone has stolen my job and actually posted the entire top 10 instead of just what's mentioned in the Hot 100 report...

Gotye could have absolutely enormous sales this week if he's already over 300k - could he even top the 400k mark? :o fun. back on the increase after falling back a bit.

Oh days at One Direction getting very near to 300k :drama: Great to see The Wanted back over 200k as well as Carly though (and Flo Rida nearly doing so).

Higher than normal digital sales this week!
Easter

I would say you're being optimistic. I'd be happy with top 60.

EDIT: But I'm a pessimist!

EDIT 2: Lights is at #65, #227 and #630. Album at #93 - for comparisions later on.

We Are Young has now broken Love the Way You Lie's record for most consecutive weeks selling 300,000+!!

And this is the first time that two alternative songs have been the top 2 on the Hot 100 at the same time as both being top 10 on the alternative airplay chart...EVER!!!

It's the same songs in the top 10 of the Hot 100 as last week though. :drama:

Fair play, what i did say was stupid. I just don't get the love for STIUTK at all- maybe it'll grow on me.

On a different note- great to see WAY selling so well still, hopefully it'll overtake RITD for second position in the all-time downloads. (IGF to keep the top spot! )
