Katy Perry number 1? JLS missing the top5 with a new song?

Hell yeah, that's what I call a good week.

That Katy Perry record has no business being at number one. It's such a poor effort.

^ THIS

'Part Of Me' may not be Katy's best song, but I'd have it at #1 over any of the other big new entries of this week for sure.

*edit - post 39,000. Bloomin' 'eck!

If someone was going to tell me two weeks ago that Alexandra's new single was going to debut higher than JLS' new single, I would have laughed in their face. Actually shocked at how poor they are doing. :o

Starships video is coming in a 'week and a half' according to Nicki's twitter. I agree with an earlier post that she may have left it too late to get #1, but it will surely rack up some nice sales!

Edit: Starships  #4

Turn Me On  #9

Proud  #10 :cheer:

Elephant  #13

Elephant falling? I was sure that would get back in the top 10. Niggas In Paris to go top 10 by Friday then?

Babylon zoo - Spaceman

What was the peak position of this? i used to hear this a lot when i was a kid

Number 1 for 5 wks- perhaps that how you heard it? :P

I used to hear it a lot on the radio and at school, etc, so that's probably where he heard it aswell (well, it depends on his age I guess). I never really used to have a clue what was #1, so I doubt most people hear songs because they're number-one.

Number one= masses of radio play and TV appearances= at least it did in the 90s :D

Sorry, I thought you were suggesting we all religiously followed the charts when we were kids.

It would be nice if they still did now. Nobody really seems to care about the charts anymore, but I think some #1s like the ones we were discussing the other day (Promises, Don't Go, etc.) could've sold so much more if they got played on the radio as much as they should've done. My parents have never heard those songs before.

I guess the mainstream radio stations are much more "conservative" musically than they used to be. Scared to take risks with their playlists.

10. Jls - Proud 33.5%

11. Jay Z & Kanye West - Nigas In Paris 29.2%

Ouch for Jls dropping out of the top 10 on a Thursday, I can see this maybe being their lowest selling single also!

I've heard quite a few people talking about the charts at school actually.

I don't think I've EVER heard the charts being discussed in school
