I'd have to say that Eamon - F**k It (I Don't Want You Back) is a bit of a forgotten hit (especially given how big it was at the time). I heard it on Radio 1 earlier today and realised that I hadn't heard it in years!

This "comeback" hit from a-ha (which reached no.10 in 2006) really should've become a modern day classic, but alas, it was not to be. It was co-written by Max Martin, making it one of the few good songs he's came out with.

Saying it's forgotten is a bit of a stretch though. Some songs are so unique (in either a good or bad way) that the public don't need constant reminders of their existence (via airplay or some other form) to remember them. I would also put Babycakes mentioned a few pages back in this category, and various novelty hits.

I wouldn't say baby cakes is forgotten. People still remember it, and if you call someone baby cakes, they always sing 'you just don't know, know'

Who are you replying to? My post was saying it ISN'T forgotten.

(Unless you're responding to whoever mentioned it in this thread in the first place, but that is just confusing and what the quote button was invented for.)

These top ten hits are quite forgotten, apologies if these have already been mentioned:

:D

Too Little Too Late is definitely not forgotten! If anything it's a bit of a treasured nostalgia hit - I definitely find myself in a group reminiscing about it every year! The Loving Kind isn't forgotten by the sole audience that got it there (i.e. THE GAYS), and Won't Go Quietly still gets played on nights out.

ASDA FM seems to be the retirement home for forgotten top 10 hits. It's the only place I hear such gems as Lene Marlin's "Sitting Down Here" (played three times this week, at around 6:30PM each night) and Glorious by Andreas Johnsson (although the latter isn't as forgotten now that he's now everybody's favourite Swedish Eurovision also-ran).

I wouldn't say Glorious is forgotten! It's the sort of thing I wouldn't say people remember the name of but I'd hazard a guess that most people would immediately recognise and remember it if it were played to them.

#2 in 1999.

I still hear this on the odd night out!

As forgotten top tens go:

Utter classic. The song it's based on is probably one of the less remembered number ones of the last decade too I reckon...

I also can't remember hearing this since it was a hit. Written by Ne-Yo of all people!

Jennifer Lopez - Ain't It Funny (the original song that reached #3 in 2001, not the so-called 're-mix' that reached #4 in 2002 that was actually a totally different song).

Never heard the first one but I still hear 'Let Me Love You' every now and then.

Wow...I've got a list the length of my arm for this kind of topic...I'll just highlight a few of my personal favourites though:

NORTH AND SOUTH - I'm a Man Not A Boy (#7 in May 1997 - I can't imagine how miffed they must have been when S Club came along two years later and did what they failed to do. I actually found the pilot of No Sweat on YouTube the other day though and I can kinda see why they failed to connect beyond the initial buzz, it was terribly 90's!)

EMMIE - More Than This (#5 in January 1999 - nice little dance tune, remember loving this at the time)

BARENAKED LADIES - One Week (#5 in February 1999 - I remember when I used to listen to Jayne Middlemiss do the TOTP radio show before the chart with Mark Goodier on Sundays and she forever seemed to go on about this song...it's not dated that well though, granted)

SUGAR RAY - Every Morning (#10 in May 1999 - another Jayne Middlemiss on TOTP radio hype-y song - but this one I still love blasting during the summer...)

SIA - Taken For Granted (#10 in June 2000 - I think especially more so since her David Guetta/Flo-Rida dabbling)

APPLETON - Fantasy and Don't Worry (#2 and #5 in September 2002 and February 2003 - TBH it always surprises me in hindsight that 'Fantasy' was a single because it wasn't representative of the amazing album it was from. Loved the video though where they were crowd surfing in that sweaty rock club, alas I couldn't find it, hence the TOTP performance instead. Likewise with 'Don't Worry')

SINEAD QUINN - I Can't Break Down (#2 in February 2003 - shame she flopped as hard as she did, her album was promising)

RACHEL STEVENS - Negotiate With Love and So Good (#10 in April and July 2005 - Rachel practically takes the gold, silver and bronze medals for forgotten top 10 hits for these two gems from such an amazing album just scraping into the top 10. It still crushes me that 'More, More, More' sold more and was top 3 over these two and 'I Said Never Again')

Rachel Stevens

Come And Get It was an absolutely fantasitc pop album, Negotiate With Love especially should've massive

Jennifer Lopez - Ain't It Funny (the original song that reached #3 in 2001, not the so-called 're-mix' that reached #4 in 2002 that was actually a totally different song).

Our local Heart still play the orignal Ain't It Funny (and If You Had My Love) fairly regularly!

I'd say this is largely forgotten, #4 in 2005 - although I liked it at the time although time has just shown how generic it really is

also this reached #10 as recently as 2009 and is largely forgotten about these days:

Isn't it just? Was so ahead of it's time, it pre-dated the whole Little Boots/La Roux electro thing by about 5 years, yet she did it on half the budget that both those acts had thrown at them...the fact that every review I've ever seen of the album has been good - and I mean across the board, teen mags to broadsheets alike says how brilliant it was and still is. I don't know what Rachel did to deserve the sudden press/public non chalance she recieved around the era of this album to be honest, nor will I ever. She's never been caught up in any major scandals to my knowledge...

Anyone remember the Brian Kennedy/Peter Corry EP 'George Best - A Tribute' that went to #4 in 2006? I don't know which song from it was promoted if any, but track 1 on the EP is Brian Kennedy's version of 'You Raise Me Up' which only seems to have live versions on YouTube.

Every household in Belfast is required by law to have a copy of George Best - a Tribute E.P at all times.

#7 in 2002

"Yeah, God made me cool"

Lucie Silvas - Breathe In

Peaked one place higher than What You're Made Of yet it's much less remembered imo. I know What You're Made Of is hardly culturally significant but I still hear it a bit on the radio, yet never Breathe In. Though I love WYMO, I much prefer this
