It appears that ukmix is closing this weekend. Matthew, one of the admin, has confirmed it to be true.

I've not really been about much to make people aware of this but yes, this weekend is going to be the end of UKMIX. It has been a really good time whilst it's lasted - but the simple fact is Lars has never really had the time to keep this place up to date for a number of years, the one person who he tried to get to take over never really did, and really it's just too much work for us to keep running. icon_frown.gif

 

 

 

If anyone has any threads they would like to save I'd advise them to do so as soon as possible.

Shame for them. I was a member of UKMix, but I haven't visited it for a year at least... or even more.

I sincerely hope not! :o There's some invaluable chart information stored on there.

devastating news. I'm a member there with almost 17,300 posts.. so all my work has gone to waste. :angry:

 

so maybe i have to spam through buzzjack now in my new spare time.

It's a shame to see UKMIX go, I've had 8 memorable years as a poster there. :cry:

Sad news - I've lurked there for about as long as I started lurking on CoolClarity (about 2004!) and finally registered on both here and Buzzjack at the same time, Summer 2008. Only made a few posts there but always seemed very enjoyable, and a huge archive of posts that it'll be a shame to lose.

If this is true, their fatal mistake was in not allowing permanent log-ins - because of that, I gave up visiting there.

That was my first thought, i know Matthew Dixon would be great to have here as a regular. I was never a member of UK Mix but i know

he was one of the more knowledgeable chart people over there. Can't do any harm to ask him?

 

Sad news though, always sad to hear of a long-establised forum going. And there's been a few that have bitten the dust.

Still miss Coolclarity, there was a forum in its hey day (2004/05) that was awesome!

On the other hand, that's the only way it could work. Nobody would BELIEVE it if someone told this on April, 1st! And given that the apparent "closure" is due to that date...

As far the site goes its still closing tonight after midnight, sad times, going to miss Irishguy's sales flashes, hopefully Irishguy and some members will find their way onto Buzzjack and Haven. I haven't seen Matthew Dixon (UKmix owner) on Buzzjack for a while now.

I was running a chart game there a while ago too but the interest decreased a lot so I stopped it.

What a crap April Fools joke if it is one, surely a lot of casual posters and guests will have already taken note and deserted the forum. Way to lose traffic!

 

It doesn't strike me as being in any way funny either, for anybody involved.
