Azealia finally top 10 :D This has really taken its time to blow up but I knew it'd happen eventually.

Wheatus #24  ...

I notice 'If You Wanna' has now dropped to #44, so there goes it outpeaking Post Break-Up Sex <_< At least it's gone top 40 I guess.

Great to see Azealia top 10! She most likely won't get there officially this week though.

Nicki Minaj - Pound The Alarm  #50 - Love it, but she shouldn't release it anytime soon, it's just Starships Pt II

Alex Day - Lady Godiva  #133 :o

Just Dance  #205

10. 212 (feat. Lazy Jay) - Azealia Banks :w00t:

Bare in mind that Next To Me has 2 versions in the top 40, so even though it has overtaken one version Next To Me's sales are probably much higher than 212's.

8. Azealia Banks '212 (feat. Lazy Jay)'

^ Was at #15 officially yesterday, so could well climb to #11/12 this week (pushing down Olly Murs in the process). Hoping Usher/Bieber and possibly fun. next week don't ruin it's now good-looking chance at reaching the top 10 officially.

99. Jls - Proud (Two weeks top 40 for a charity single

I'm actually shocked how badly this has done. Don't get me wrong it's poor but you'd think they would have enough of a core fan base that would shell out for it especially given its a charity single and it's not on any album either is it?

Honestly, I think some of their fan base have either grown up and moving towards the like of Jessie J or The Wanted.....and the younger ones are more 1D. The writing is on the wall for this group......

You're probably right. Most boybands do have a short shelf life. I thought they had potential on XF to be more than a boyband but they have become far too predictable. Their decline has just come very suddenly. They are everywhere as well. Signs not good. That's the problem with targetting the teenage market, it may look like they are the success stories initially (like One Direction at the moment) but it's so quickly gone.

Too true torresgirl. I think the saturation has become a bit too much for people and this Sport Relief record was the final straw for a lot of people. 1D will be heading to the dumpster within a year or two....in fact, it does not surprise me if it has began now with "One Thing" failing to make Top 5....on top of that, they are appealing a lot to pre-teens...my seven year old niece loves 1D!

On top of that, you know what to expect....I wouldn't be surprised if we get some summer smash in June/July that goes to #1 and falls like a tart's knickers.

Seriously, if you want to stick around appeal to the mass market a la Take That, Westlife and The Wanted.

I agree with this (espcially the bit about the tarts knickers).

The Wanted will have a lot of longevity, but i can see 1D doing fairly well for a while too. They're big worldwide; JLS were mediocre in the UK alone so it's difficult to compare them. I'm glad JLS's time looks to be drawing to a close, i like 0 of their songs, whereas i like every single song that The Wanted have released :o (and looking forward to their new Example written song!!!)

(and looking forward to their new Example written song!!!)

It premiered this morning :P

Basically Glad You Came pt. 2 but it does it's job well ^_^

I also think years ago (sounding like an old lady lol) the boy bands had more about them. There's so much hype now and the songs are often mediorce but get to Number 1 (briefly) purely on the image fed to the youngsters. In a few years will we look back on them and the like and think "those were the days" like I do with Take That, NKOTB, A-ha etc. i think not. The songs were so much better. So once they move on to the next good looking singer there's nothing left.

I think sadly it's pretty much the same with everything nowadays, the public are just too fickle. I hope that Katy Perry/Gaga/Rihanna etc. have a lot longer as the 'top bitches', I fear they might come to a slump as has happened to many artists recently :(

What do you expect after a lot of people bought it in the five or so weeks before the EP and physical were out? It spent 5 weeks in the Top 40 then. It did quite well catapulting into the Top 10 that week. I highly doubt 1D are going anywhere just yet.

My bad....but you'd have thought they'd have got a top 3 out of it!

JLS....there is nothing about them. Not that good looking with perhaps JB who is OK at best....very cheap and poorly written songs and don't get me started with that one they did with Div (considering she has zero talent). Live they're not great and only came 2nd in X-Factor because Alexandra blew everyone away and were up against that little twerp from Nothern Ireland. This was due to the screaming girlies voting....

I think Rihanna/KP and possibly Nicki Minaj/Lady Gaga will be around a while. Rihanna is too popular. I think if 1D and JLS were around in the 1990s, especially when TT in their first incarnation were around, they'd have been a League 1 boyband at best.

To be fair, the fact it got to 9 only when they are the all conquering 1D is quite poor - especially consdiering their hype.

without wanting to go down the boyband wars route - back at the height of their fame, JLS managed 3 top 10 hits - One Shot and Eyes Wide Shut all sold incredibly well considering the albums they came from sold over 1m and 600k respectively when they were released and howevered around the top 10 for well over a month.

GBY had a shocking chart run for a second single - especially considering that no album had been released at that point and they had an XF performance - however wasn't helped by the fact it was sh!te and WMYB was still selling strong.

However saying all that pop acts are increasingly finding it hard to get that 3rd/ 4th hit from an album post release - The Wanted's Battleground struggled until it was reduced to 59p and the Sats have struggled as well (pre album for them).

Its funny to think the Wanted look set to last the longest as I thought after Gold Forever they would have a relatively short career; however GYC was a massive hit and CTS is a great song to launch a new era with.

1D I can see having massive short term success - bit like the Spice Girls, before quickly despanding - they havent really even set the UK alight and seem much bigger in the US.

I'd have expected a top 3 for One Thing if it were a pre-album single, but it wasn't so I suppose the overall sales are more important. :)

I like JLS. They've got some pretty good songs. I especially like the three singles from their latest album. The only one I haven't really liked is The Club Is Alive, for obvious reasons. At least they write their songs. I know some people who criticise 1D for only writing three songs of their album, so at least JLS put the effort in, and I don't think the end results have been all that bad.

They are at their height so it won't be yet. They are still on their first album. However when I read yesterday they are playing Madison Square Garden, I thought it's ridiculous. This is just a testament to how things are right now. Playing MSG based on what? What Makes You Beautiful?. There only US hit and not even a huge one yet. It shows its all hype and if you can be seen enough how you can fool the public. Its more so now than ever. When I think of some of the artists they have played that arena. BTW I have nothing personal against ID, I've said before that One Thing is a good pop song. My point is a more general one that all it seems to take to be successful now is telling people you are. Sorry I know we've gone a bit off topic.

Surprises me how The Wanted are perceived as this HUGE boyband on the basis they can shift singles. Their album sales aren't brilliant, and it's being successful in that market that leads to longevity.

1D have done well but I actually expected them to do even better in the UK given the hype. Rushing them straight to the states smacks of striking while the iron is hot. I believe their fall will be as dramatic as their rise to fame. Any artist that is over exposed runs the risk of a short shelf life.
