Being a rubbishgai, of course I absolutely LOVE The Immaculate Collection. A brilliant collection of one of the best singles discographies ever!

Fourth album I own :D I don't think Madonna has ever released a bad track! Not even her recent 2 (which I LOVE!) Great to hear Open Your Heart, such a great song!
I've never been that mad on Madonna personally. Give Me All Your Luvin' is my favourite of hers though. #unpopular opinion

I haven't heard 'Open Your Heart' before, but it sounds good on first listen. My favourite Madonna song from her early era would be "Holiday" with "Into The Groove" in 2nd.

And let's remember the Kobbar quote "In the 80s Madonna wanted to open a lot more than heart" :kink:

Madonna changed the word 'conception' to 'collection', then Katy Perry cancelled out the pun imbalance (?) by changing 'collection' to 'confection' :D Fun.

I'm not the biggest fan of Madonna ever but she does have some good songs. Her best songs for me were almost all released after TIC though, with the exception of 'Like A Prayer'.

We already know the top 10 don't we? I won't post them in here of course but the OCC has told us a couple of times recently.

10. GREATEST HITS II- Queen

RELEASED: 1991

PEAK POSITION: 1

WKS ON CHART: 112

This would have been massive in any eventuality, but the release in late 1991 almost coincided with the death of Lead Singer Mercury (Kobbar would have been proud) and saw sales over that Xmas spiral to over a million coupled with a re-issued “Bohemian Rhapsody” which sold almost a million as well (in addition to its 70s sales).

Queen have too many great songs to name    Great to hear Radio GaGa again :D
Having seen the full list I own CD's of 39 of them. Don't have Dirty Dancing!
Unpopular opinion but I don't like Queen that much. Obviously Bohemian Rhapsody is AMAZING but it's actually one of only about 5 Queen songs I'd listen to out of choice.
Queen have too many great songs to name

Patchy studio albums though so you only really need GH 1 and 2.

15. COME ON OVER- Shania Twain

RELEASED: 1998

PEAK POSTION: 1

WKS ON CHART: 131

6 top 20 singles kept this in the public eye through 98-99 but didn’t finally make it into the top 10 until 15 months after release. This mainly due to the success of “That Don’t Impress Me Much” which helped the album sell 2 million in 99 alone, the first time a female soloist had done this, sadly she never replicated this success.

COO is certainly one of my favourite albums of all-time, if not, #1.

I strongly prefer the North American "country" version, but I do own both.

The International version just sounded so watered down to me. It didn't help that I bought it after 5 years of non-stop playing the original.

I only bought Come On Over last year but it's definitely a great album. The right songs were picked for the 29 singles from it though. Love You're Still The One.

I can't believe you only just bought it last year :o

Canada had 12 singles & the US 11 singles released from it. Really not much else to choose from after that!

Patchy studio albums though so you only really need GH 1 and 2.

That is true - I haven't listened to the album tracks, but the Greatest Hits collection is great and it's great to see this start the top 10

09. BAD- Michael Jackson

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/7/76/Michael_jackson_bad_cd_cover_1987_cdda.jpg

RELEASED: 1987

PEAK POSITION: 1

WKS ON CHART: 155

A much more immediate start met the release of “Bad” than had done its predecessor when the album opened with 350k the biggest opening for an album EVER, and remains one of the 20 biggest openings some 25 years after the event. Spawning 9 top 20 hits it again was home to another million dollar promo for the title track, an 18 minute Martin Scorsese lensed video that when aired on MTV for the first time in the US was held as a factor in the reduction of crime reported in the NYC for its duration?! Anyway come the end of the 80s it had outsold bad to be the 2nd biggest seller of the decade though that has now been reversed.

As time goes on I find Madonna's 80s music increasingly over-rated. Pop music in the UK was far ahead of what she was making. PSP, Eurythmics, Erasure and other sounded better than what her producers were making.
Also really loving Michael Jackson in the chart  Don't own this album but I cherry picked a lot of songs from his greatest hits when he died and I realised how many songs I loved of his. (including 'Bad' - the song)

I've never actually listened to 'Bad' as an album but of course practically every song on it was a single so I've pretty much heard it anyway  Great album, personal highlights being Smooth Criminal and Dirty Diana. Man In The Mirror is a bit overrated, not sure why it's suddenly his go-to classic these days especially as it originally only peaked at #21!
