Hold off the cries of 'flop'! He's had two years worth of major label investment and a disproportionately huge following considering, so something special's probably going to happen even though he crashed out far too early in his year of the X Factor to 'where is she now?' hate icon Katie Waissel. ANYWAY, the début single's just premiered and the production is fantastic, as well as very now, so I'd expect Diana Vickers-style 'success' at the very least. At the best, he might actually end up doing better than Matt Cardle and Cher Lloyd and get up there with the likes of One Direction and Rebecca whatshername.

Anyway, here's the single. Unsurprisingly he remains gorgeous and free of flaw.

Oh I REALLY like this, which is a relief because I probably would've had to loon over him regardless considering his past status as Mr Slick during his time on X Factor. His voice sounds very good and unique on it. He appears to have learned to control it a bit better in the past couple of years. And yes, the production is GOOD.
I really like this! was expecting him to go down the olly murs route, but I'm not a massive fan of his so it's nice that he hasn't. I always liked him during the x factor too, particularly his performance of 'mad world'.
Would be far better IMO of the chorus went into a half time dubstep kinda thing, but it's fairly decent nonetheless. Wouldn't have recognised his voice though.
yeh it really doesn't sound like i remember him doing, the song is ok, not very instant to me might grow though.
Oh that's much better than anything I would have expected from him, I found him massively overrated on the show, vocally and looks wise. The latter is also improved now by the stubble.
Sounds like Frankmusik  . It's pretty decent for who it is.
Yeah, pretty decent! I was quite engrossed in X-Factor that year and was VERY annoyed he left over Katie Weasel (whom I hated thoroughly), I did think he'd completely disappeared forever so nice to see him pop up again.

The album's called Misty Eye and will be released on August 13th, with the single preceding it on June 3rd.

I really like the song! His voice has changed a LOT (and for the better - he got repetitive/generally dull following the sublime "Mad World" performance [i'll give him "Nothing Compares 2 U" though]). I'm not sure how I think this'll go success-wise, but he's got a big following on Twitter, so I wouldn't be surprised to see it become a big hit.

Personally I don't see the Frankmusik comparisons at all - the production here seems darker and a lot more spacious - but then I don't like Frankmusik and I'm practically one of those obsessive fans with a collage of Aiden Grimshaw photos above their bed so MAYBE I'm not to be consulted on this issue.
Wow. This is very, very good! I had completely forgotten about him (even though he was possibly my 2nd favourite behind Cher Lloyd that year!) until now and this is brilliant. Looking forward to his album very much!

To me, vocally he sounds like Frankmusik, and musically it sounds like something Frankmusik could easily progress to for a third album as it really isn't a million miles away from a lot of his previous material. That is coming from a casual fan of Frankmusik though, but if I was to guess at who this song was by without knowing anything about it, I'd immediately think it was Frankmusik.

This is actually rather great, suprisingly. I quite liked him on X Factor but I never got the fuss when he left, he got quite dull towards the end, however I think this is a great first attempt of breaking the charts.

Also, that artwork is absolutely stunning

If I were to make a vocal comparison, it'd be to Jack Peñate, although this a lot more electro than Peñate's indie synths. I suppose Frankmusik could move in this direction but his stuff was always a lot cheesier and tinny to my ears.

I've not listened to much Jack Peñate at all, I'm only really familiar with Torn On The Platform, so I'm not that accustomed with his vocals. It's mainly the chorus of this track that makes me think "toned down Frankmusik", and it would be a sound I'd quite like him to try out as there can sometimes be far too much going on in his songs.

I'm liking this song more with every listen, looking forward to the album!

I actually think he's got the sound that Frankmusik attempted/wanted but failed to get. This is a lot more sophisticated and more "professional" in sound and I hope it does well for him.

Much better than I expected!

Hope he gets a decent size hit from this.

Absolutely love it. Loved him on the X Factor and always thought he had something special. Hope this can be big for him. Oh, and he has matured very nicely.
