May 3, 201213 yr It's times like this I realise how frustratingly slow the Hot 100 is. The Wanted back UP 5-4 and Calvin Harris 14-13. Adele sitting at 16. One Direction slipping a tiny 8-9. Slooooow.
May 3, 201213 yr Why is that dreadful Michel Telo song climbing??? It's low on both sales and airplay.... Too bad Adele has peaked, why can't she move it and release a video??? Why is she so damn lazy???
May 3, 201213 yr The chart has become so annoyingly slow since the amplification of airplay and streaming some songs have been there for ages like those two Drake songs and LMFAO too....
May 3, 201213 yr WOO Ellie. Finally a top 40 hit and a big climb, I thought she'd be back to slowly crawling up. Otherwise, blah.
May 3, 201213 yr Oh, Ellie made it? :o Great to see her top 40, I actually didn't think it would happen! Higher peak than in the UK too now! Also great for Gotye holding on, it's the only song ever to get 3 weeks over 400k download sales as well :D
May 3, 201213 yr I wonder how "21"s sales will hold up as RHI continues to decline and there is no new 21 song to replace it. I really wish she'd do an AI or The Voice. Promo has been very less for the 21 era, hasn't it? I can think of the week around release time frame, the MTV Awards (SLY), Grammys performance + 60 Mins interview ...and that's it? Also how many weeks will Gotye be #1 as he's selling so well and airplay is zooming up now? I think he could beat Fun's 6 week run at #1.
May 3, 201213 yr RHI has spent 20 weeks on chart already and is not selling that well tbh.. It won't go Top 5 but top ten just with a strong airplay.
May 3, 201213 yr #16 is fantastic for Rumour Has It considering how late in the campaign it's been released, it was never going to come close to the success of her last 3 singles. It seems weird that Glad You Came is actually moving back up while What Makes You Beautiful is falling when the latter seems like it's the biggest hit by far (but is yet to be ahead for even one week AFAIA). Yay for Carly breaking the top 5, although surprised she isn't doing better TBH. Also yay at Calvin going back up a place with 'Feel So Close' and entering the top 100 with 'Let's Go' (a place higher than 'Till I'm Gone' peaked, so he's done SLIGHTLY better than Tinie even ignoring WFL now, although we'll see if he can manage a top 30 album). And woo for Ellie climbing into the top 40, if this properly takes off now it could have a really long run in the Hot 100 with all the time it took slowly crawling its way up. I see 'HYFR (Hell Ya Fucking Right)' is the fifth official single from 'Take Care' in the USA now, explains its re-entry recently. But why is 'Crew Love' now in there too? Is that also getting airplay? (Not complaining :P) Good progress for 'Titanium' so far, I really hope it can repeat its UK success - not necessarily going to #1 but at least being the biggest hit of the era.
May 3, 201213 yr Yay for Ellie. She's 69 on Radio songs (first time she's got on that chart) and 28 on downloads! The fact she's gone top 30 with little airplays shows that even with 50 million impacts this song could go top 20. Im getting more and more convinced it will actually.

Is that also getting airplay? (Not complaining :P) Crew Love is just high on downloads and streaming really. I think he should certainly promote it after HYFR. The chart has become so annoyingly slow since the amplification of airplay and streaming some songs have been there for ages like those two Drake songs and LMFAO too.... Airplay hasn't been "amplified" has it? I agree about the streaming though, it's certainly going to make the chart even slower than it was before!! That's probably the most annoying thing about it for me, even though I do like that it boosts all of Drake and Lil Wayne's songs 10 places in the chart each week. Edited May 3, 201213 yr by Eric_Blob
May 3, 201213 yr It seems weird that Glad You Came is actually moving back up while What Makes You Beautiful is falling when the latter seems like it's the biggest hit by far (but is yet to be ahead for even one week AFAIA). While One Direction are unquestionably bigger as a group -- Glad You Came has been a much bigger single. Utterly inescapable since about March 1... I've been in three different parts of the country and it's play listed to death everywhere. Yay for Carly breaking the top 5, although surprised she isn't doing better TBH. I'm kind of surprised too. It has been top five on iTunes for what seems like months. I just think slower airplay gains and a few VERY strong singles out lately have held it back. It's hard for a completely new artist to blow up with a debut single... even with Bieber promotion

May 4, 201213 yr A rather remarkable 10th straight week in the Top 5 for 'Glad You Came'. At first it was mainly because of strong sales, but now it's certainly because of strong airplay. Kind of a pity both weren't as strong as each other at the same time. Though no doubt the shift between the two has helped its overall longevity. Full chart run so far: 85-64-40-30-25-23-05-04-04-03-03-04-03-03-05-04 || Sales: 2,221,000. Of course, this only makes the performance of their album more underwhelming.
May 4, 201213 yr It seems weird that Glad You Came is actually moving back up while What Makes You Beautiful is falling when the latter seems like it's the biggest hit by far (but is yet to be ahead for even one week AFAIA). Glad You Came has been a much bigger single. 1D sold around 1.8 mln copies of WMYB, and TW sold 2.2 mln copiers of GYc, but if you remember that GYC was released much more earlier, and if you compare their sale. you should admit, that WMYB is doing better.
May 4, 201213 yr What a coincedence! . Slick said the EXACT same thing. Every single word too. Because he's a spammer
May 4, 201213 yr So far GYC has been - quite naturally - a bigger airplay success than WMYB which pretty much explains the current situation. WMYB has peaked at #4, GYC #3.
