How long has it been for a song to get to #1 at around this time?

At least Tulisa's reign will be cut to a week, I wouldn't be surprised if "Young" has a "No Regrets"-esque chart run now.

 

When I said it was a straight fight between Rita Ora and fun. for #1, I'll now delay that until next week given this one looks like a foregone conclusion.

No, because Rita got famous through DJ Fresh's "Hot Right Now", a dance (drum n' bass to be exact) song B-) Great to see that Tinie Tempah is finally going to get a 3rd UK #1 hit, when he should've had one 6 months ago with "Earthquake". In fact Tinie could've been getting a 5th #1 if it wasn't for that football song stopping Frisky from being a #1 midweek, and if Pro Green wasn't massively frontloaded. Oh well, I can dream.

 

No, Rita was famous before Hot Right Now. :lol: She wouldn't be here if it wasn't for UK urban music. And drum and bass is part of UK urban music now anyway. So are hip hop, grime, dubstep, dancehall, soul, etc. (basically everything they cover on Radio 1Xtra). Same goes for Tulisa, someone like her could've never possibly got a record deal otherwize (no offense to Tulisa or anything :lol:).

 

I wish Tinie was on his 5th #1 though. I like Shout and Read All About It (I listened to Shout yesterday infact, I still remember all the lyrics :drama:), but I would've preferred Shout to be released a day later so Frisky could've had #1 in the first week, and Shout in the 2nd, and I wouldn't preferred Pro Green to be even more frontloaded and fall behind Earthquake on its 2nd week. I'm being quite idealistic here though. :lol:

:cheer: Already #1 in less than thirteen and a half hours and WITHOUT having pre-orders added to the songs feed (the EP is still #1 on the album chart). Unbelievably quick progress. Surely it must be heading for 100k+ - first act since Alexandra Burke to open at #1 with over 100k with each of their first two chart appearances? Who was the last act to do that with a normal career (i.e. not an XF winner's single?) EDIT: Wait, JLS did this as well and they didn't have a winner's single. Forgot that Beat Again opened on over 100k.

I think R.I.P overtakes Somebody That I Used to Know as my 2nd favourite #1 of the year now (behind Twilight). So now my two favourite #1s of the year so far both sound like Rihanna songs. :lol:

 

And my two least favourites are Tulisa's and Chris Brown's.

I've got Modestep appearing when I open that link you posted (infact they've got two versions in the top 400 now).

 

I think on Sundays especially the feed updates at different times for different people sometimes, so yours might just be a bit behind.

I'm reluctant to hand Rita Ora victory just yet. It's still only Sunday lunch - Tulisa of course has the BGT slot first (and the first live show generally has more viewers than middle of the week?). Tulisa will probably end up #2 but I think all top 4 will have fantastic sales!

I think Tulisa is performing today? And Rita Ora is rumoured to be performing next week I think, but it hasn't been 100% confirmed, I don't think.

Go Rita! Amazing to see her at #1 already, that was very fast. It's such a good song though so I'm happy for both her and Tinie.

 

Unfortunately it seems like Mz. Bratt her new single is not in the top 400 yet, not that I was expecting anything without support. It's very good though, the chorus is written by Emeli Sandé.

Well I did say it was gonna be huge didn't I? :P should get some very good sales this week! I don't think Tulisa's performance will be enough considering Rita's climbing extremely quickly now and could climb even if she is performing on BGT
