In the years I've been in BJSC I've yet to see a set of odds that don't at least somewhat correlate to that persons votes, even if its in the respect of bumping a track that everybody else has at the bottom to mid-table or something.

I am guilty of this myself a little, obviously I do try to make odds that are totally fair, but there is usually one track everyone else is loving and putting high in odds that I don't 'get' and so I end up placing it a bit lower. Largely I don't let my votes affect anything, but I think that odd one or two is just subconcious really, me not liking means I don't get the hype and so will just put it lower.

And vice versa if you're the only one that 'gets it' so you put it much higher than everybody else. For example, I love the Meiko track and have predicted it top ten, purely on the basis that I think it has the potential to do so and deserves to imo, everybody else has it predicted mid-table... So yeah I'm guilty of doing it, but only if I strongly and honestly believe that it has a good chance of doing well. I can be objective though - I loved the Lucie Silvas song last month but I knew it wouldn't catch on and that I'd be one of the few that loved it, hence I gave it low odds.

You see, if people aren't getting a track that I love and putting near the bottom of their odds, I just assume that they are WRONG and I am right (clearly the best way :D). Then we see who's laughing when the results happen, ah ha! (normally them as I wallow in despair that a fave has failed)

 

(It is quite impossible to not let personal taste affect it for the majority of tracks to be honest, but I try. To be honest, it's rare that I dislike anything towards the top of my odds and sometimes I want there to be a track I don't like towards the top even, as well as a track I like right down the bottom, y'know, to throw people off, if I can bring myself to do it :cry: )
