At the same time, it's been outside the top 20 for like a month and is currently like #31 on iTunes. What actual reason is there to keep it on the playlist?

Yeah, especially since they have LaserLight on the A-List aswell.

I think it could actually be quite a long time since we get David Guetta's next single, because they're promoting Titanium in the US now, so David Guetta probably won't release the video for I Can Only Imagine until possibly July or August now. So maybe Radio 1 know that and want to draw out Turn Me On for as long as possible. That's one theory anyway.

Is the Ruth Anne that features on Remedy that awful girl that got voted out of The Voice or is it just a coincidence?

I think it's a singer called Ruth Anne Cunningham (think she was sent to BJSC before by Palmyra), but I'm not completely sure.

Yeah, I think it's Ruth Anne Cunningham. From her Wikipedia page:

Ruth-Anne is a 23-year-old singer/songwriter/producer/vocal producer from Dublin, In Ireland, She is signed to Sony ATV as of May 2010.[1]At 17 years old she was brought to the US where she co-wrote JoJo's hit single "Too Little Too Late" with Billy Steinberg and Josh Alexander. It went from number 66 to number 3 on the Billboard hot 100 chart in just one week in America, breaking records as the biggest leap in one week at the time. It went on to be a worldwide smash in over 30 countries, the song itself sold over 1 million copies and was certified platinum by the RIAA in America, the album also was certified Platinum selling over 1 million copies and was certified gold in the UK, Canada and Germany. She was awarded with the very prestigious ASCAP songwriters best pop award at the 24th annual ASCAP pop awards 2007 for "Too little too late"[2]

Her second American hit came not long after with the runner-up of American Idol "Katharine Mcphee, "Over it" written by Ruth-Anne/Billy Steinberg and Josh Alexander went top 20 and the song itself sold 500,000 copies and was certified gold by RIAA, the song was then recorded by German band "Queensberry" and that album went gold in Germany

Cunningham co-wrote two hit singles off Pixie Lotts album "Turn it up" including the title track "turn it up" and the hit single "Broken arrow" as well as also writing "My love" for the album.[3]

Cunningham has written with some of the worlds biggest producers and songwriters including Red One, JR.Rotem, Toby Gad, Evan Bogart, Harvey Mason Jnr, Billy Steinberg, Josh Alexander, Julian Bunetta, Guy Chambers, Andrew Frampton, Cutfather and Jayjay, Chris Braide, Labrinth, Quiz and Larossi, Jeff Bhasker, Alex Da Kidd, Stereotypes, Franne Golde, Phil Thornally, Mads Hauge, Karen Poole, Heather Bright, Livvi Franc, Jimmy Harry, Paul Epworth, Pete Martin, Danny and Mark from "The Script", TMS, Phrased differently, Future Cut, Naughty Boy, Mojam music and lots more.[4][5]

As well as a list of established artists she has written songs with like Leona lewis, jojo, pixie lott, Devlin, Alexandra Burke, Sugababes, Professor Green, Tinchy Stryder, She has songs on new up and coming releases from new artists as well from Ed Drewett, Parade, McLean, Ms.Williams and Jasmine V.[6][7][8]

Ruth-Anne recently co-wrote “Love You to Death” by Pixie Lott and “Beautiful World” by Westlife.[9][10]

She has had songs on 3 platinum selling albums in the US and in Europe.[11]

She is busy writing her debut album with release plans for 2013.

It seems she's already had many UK chart hits as a songwriter! I wonder if her solo album will be successful. Hopefully some of the artists she's made songs with return the favour.

Rihanna rising in the A-List is all that matters to me this week :D
They really need new Emeli, Cheryl, Alexandra, Stooshe & J.Lo on there! :(

I'm sure they'll do Emeli and StooShe at least.

When is CMN out?

If Cheryl turns down the offer to perform on The Voice, they might get angry and not playlist her I think.

Why would she turn that down?

Great to see them backing Aiden, would love this to be a big hit. :D Does sound a lot like something they'd play though.

It's much more Radio 2's style than Radio 1 imo. ^_^

Yes for The Wanted moving up to the B-list!

:cheer: Finally Jessie Ware gets some exposure! "110%" has the potential to be massive...

Her last single made the upfront list!

I'm sure they'll do Emeli and StooShe at least.

Yeah stooshe is Scott Mills Record of the Week so that will be on next wed.

LOL at Swear it Again on the blist in 99!!

C-List

* Aidan Grimshaw - Is This Love

* Hot Chip - Night And Day

* Jay-Z & Kanye West featuring Frank Ocean - No Church In The Wild

* Jessie Ware - 110%

Best set of additions I've seen in a long while! 'No Church In The Wild' still gives me chills, that intro is just unmatchable.

Retro 1999

B-List

* No Doubt - New

 I had no idea radio even played that song.

Why would she turn that down?

I don't know. But if she did/does turn it down, then I could see Radio 1 holding a grudge and not playlisting her (and the other way around, if she never appears on the playlist in the future, that'd be a very likely explanation as to why imo). But it's still early anyway, they could just add her in the next couple of weeks.

I dont think she would go on a show called THE VOICE when she can barely hold a note :P

Well we only had Lana on a couple of weeks ago.

Ooh, I forgot to comment on this yesterday didn't I.

Woo for all four of the songs going up to the A-List, plus Coldplay, Linkin Park, Sebastian Ingrosso, The Maccabees and The Wanted going up to the B-List.

Bizarre to see Radio 1 supporting a random X Factor flop from a few years ago. I HATED Aiden on XF, I haven't heard his single yet but I don't hold out much hope for it especially as it's been compared to Bloc Party.

Dot Rotten's new single is pretty good and nowhere near as disastrous a use of the sample as I expected (it samples Robert Miles' fantastic 'Children' in case anyone didn't know), I hope it can break the top 40 for him after AYNE? missed out. And a return to the chart for Children please :kink: Although that's not very likely.

Haven't heard 'Night And Day' yet but I have heard 'Flutes' from Hot Chip which I quite like, good to see them back again. I didn't know Jay-Z and Kanye were pushing another single here but glad to see it and 'No Church In The Wild' is a great choice, I hope it can at least outpeak 'Why I Love You' although it'll obviously come nowhere near to the success of 'Niggas In Paris'. Yay also for the Jessie Ware and Labrinth additions. Pro Green's new one is pretty meh and I haven't heard the other two newies.

Just realised they didnt playlist the brillant new Maximo Park single - why?! Looks like a whole new generation of brit indie bands will have to come through because radio 1 has dropped most of the mid noughties bands comebacks!! Any chance the newie from the darkness will get playlisted in July lol?
