July 2, 201213 yr Author ROLL DEEP- GREEN LIGHT- NON NUMBER ONE http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/7/78/Green_Light_(Remixes).jpg NEW PEAK POSITION: 3 Another WTF moment, this took advantage of a quiet week to pip Eminem to the top by 3k in th ereal world but it can't overtake that track on this thread, nor for that matter Taio Cruz's "Dynamite" which was exploding (geddit) at the No 1 spot. Simply dreadful anyway. 1k2D90QtZeE
July 2, 201213 yr Two absolutely awful #1s! I agree with you there, never got the hype for "Green Light" on this forum, truly abysmal song :puke: Edited July 2, 201213 yr by Griff
July 2, 201213 yr Author NEW NUMBER ONE 28.08.10- EMINEM FEATURING RIHANNA- LOVE THE WAY YOU LIE (1 Wk) http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/8/8f/Love_The_Way_You_Lie_single_cover.jpg No surprise surely that this gets promoted but what is perhaps a little surprising is that it only manages one week under this system. Spending just 3 weeks at No 2 behind Yolanda Be Cool, Flo Rida, and Taio Cruz it took its time to make the top, it moved 3-2-4-4-2-2-2-4 whilst on this thread its movements are 3-3-2-4-2-1-2-4, but nevertheless it makes it! uelHwf8o7_U
July 2, 201213 yr 'Beautiful Monster' certainly took me by surprise when it managed #1, not an awful track though. I really love 'Green Light' though, much better than their fellow 2010 #1.
July 2, 201213 yr Beautiful Monster was a complete WTF number 1, and I'm pretty sure it wouldn't have got anywhere near if it wasn't for the artist involved, although the same can be said for a lot of these... Edited July 2, 201213 yr by C.W
July 2, 201213 yr 'Love The Way You Lie' was the defining hit of 2010 as it represented exactly what the UK charts were like that year. Biggest selling single of 2010 yet never got even 1 week at no. 1 officially. I think the UK was one of only a handful of countries where this didn't make the #1 spot.
July 2, 201213 yr What has happened to Roll Deep? People will be so baffled when they look back at 2010 and see they had not one but two chart toppers, both with completely of-the-moment songs cashing in on the "grime artists doing electronic pop" trend. Ironically, I remember Green Light very well though, certainly better than Good Times anyway. I was on holiday at the time and the bar had their TV on a music channel for a good portion of the morning/afternoon that kept playing the video. <_< That and Club Can't Handle Me. Beautiful Monster is a typical case of a #1 more out of favour than anything else indeed. No complaints about most of the 2010 demotions so far, this thread is doing a fairly nice "tidy up" job on this year to make it look vaguely presentable, or as much as possible in these circumstances. :D
July 2, 201213 yr I really like both Roll Deep number ones, they're certainly in my favourite few from 2010, although I know there's nothing particularly different or special about either of them. I hope THE BEAST keeps number one!
July 2, 201213 yr Something tells me that Black Eyed Peas' The Time (Dirty Bit) will be a non-number one, although with Willow Smith's Whip My Hair, the song which was number two, kind of says otherwise. It think Ellie Goulding's Your Song could be number one the previous week, instead of X Factor 2010 having 2 weeks. Edited July 2, 201213 yr by liamk97
July 3, 201213 yr Author If Start Without You gets demoted I'm BOYCOTTING GEZZA FOREVER TEMPTING!
July 3, 201213 yr Author NEW NUMBER ONE 18.09.10- KATY PERRY- TEENAGE DREAM (1 wk) http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/c/c3/Katy_perry_teenage_dream_album_cover.jpg No-one predicted this one I see! Yes after three weeks of sales Perry finally managed to overcome a stubborn Taio Cruz, and after debuting at No 2 in the real charts behind Olly Murs "Please Don't let Me Go" it spent the other two weeks comfortably ahead of him meaning a promotion for her to match her US chart placing with this track. 98WtmW-lfeE
July 3, 201213 yr Author OLLY MURS- PLEASE DON'T LET ME GO- NON NUMBER ONE http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/7/77/Please_Don't_Let_Me_Go_single_cover.jpg NEW PEAK POSITION: 2 ....And that promotion means the end of Murs's first No 1 single. Again, to repeat, it was only ahead of Perry for one week and so has to be contain runner up to her on this thread. DIAxluTiULM
July 3, 201213 yr Author CEE-LO GREEN- FORGET YOU- NON NUMBER ONE http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-zPhNl3ti-fI/Tmu7JrE4FuI/AAAAAAAAEj8/4oYVPWR0pDc/s1600/Cee%20Lo%20Green%20-%20Forget%20You.jpg NEW PEAK POSITION: 2 A bit of surprise this one, but one of the massive hits of late 2010 takes a tumble here thanks to a certain Bruno Mars who sells far more consistantly through the period (in its second week at No 1 in the real world Green only outsold Mars by just 2k) so a fortnight at No 2 is the best he can manage on this thread! 17eSUnQ-_ek
July 3, 201213 yr Pleasing for Katy! I had hoped that she'd get a promotion with it (despite not voicing that here), and I remember being gutted at the time that she spent two consecutive weeks at #2. I presume "Firework" will have a new peak of #2 - could you confirm this once we get past November please? :P
July 3, 201213 yr It's amazing how absolutely massive hits like 'Airplanes' and 'Forget You' can be demoted. 2010 was a really interesting year for the charts in many respects...
July 3, 201213 yr God those Roll Deep #1s were really awful, I'd completely forgotten about them until this thread - thankfully - now I have to misremember them all over!
July 3, 201213 yr Shocked at Forget You. Still quite like that too. Just goes to show there isn't really a perfect measure of what a non no.1 is but it's all just as interesting.
