Light green (strong political and diplomatic relations): D'yermak'er,

Bellamia's status within the union is also heavily questioned, with the government's recent abandonment of most of its people to relocate the entire nation to the northeast of the Twikande East continent causing widespread protests across Persephonia which have since died down. Bellamian people in the state that is now governed by the new nation of D'yermak'er are reportedly seeing rapid improvements in quality of life and the new Bellamian state is for now a much better place to live than the old Bellamia, but the move has nonetheless been controversial.

Carellis Maps releases political map of the BJSC world

As the latest product of its new funding from the Persephonian government, Carellis based cartographers Carellis Maps have released an official political map of the BJSC World which categorises the nations of the BJSC World by the strength of diplomatic relations with Persephonia.

http://i46.tinypic.com/2elv1o1.png

The hundred-plus states of the BJSC World have been split into seven ranks of diplomatic relations.

Persephonia itself is coloured dark blue on the map.

Brown (strained relations): Batidas, Numayania, Scherzland, Unovia

Strained?

Please provide a detailed analysis of these "recent tensions" you speak of causing this downgrade in our diplomatic status. Is it because we hardly post anything in the What's happening in your Country thread? :D

Salim Zosimus is not impressed by your ATTITUDE in this forum recently.

also you keep spelling 'Persephonia' wrong

+ the fact you've never ever voted for Persephonia doesn't exactly help :kink:

Syndare enjoys the low-profile but long-standing and powerful diplomatic relationship it holds with Persephonia, which is widely acknowledged to be greater than Persephonia's relations with many of the Jubirdia members. The River Alexis, linking Syndare to Persephonia through Séyetana, is famous for being the most peaceful and placid waterway in the entire Buzzjack world, and many members of the Syndarian public are hopeful that the rumoured trade agreement between the three nations will soon publicly seal their harmonious business relationship.

Salim Zosimus has never been impressed FULL STOP. :P

I shall try my very best to ensure the people of Batidas spell Persephonia correctly (may not happen).

I felt that way with Ashton in my early days. We couldn't even get 1 point off them. Then along came 'In My Mind' and we've never looked back. Our political and diplomatic relations with Ashton have never been stronger (still not a patch on Ashvia but still). We hope that eventually this can apply to the people of Persephonia too especially after the support you've given us.

We are pleasantly surprised to be in orange and look forward to increasing political and economic relations with Persephonia.

We've always liked Batidas and are glad that relations have never been stronger between our two nations ^_^

I don't think Séyetana even has a word for war any more. :/

YES. Alexis forms the backbone of our economy. Rumoured trade agreement becoming a reality.

Fljótavík is most offended by only being light green, after all the country has awarded Persephonia more points than any other!

But aside from that, what actually even is one of those things beginning with J that the countries in higher categories than I are awarded a member of?

Persephonia unveils new flag

President Salim Zosimus has officially unveiled the new flag of the Persephonian-Carellisienne Union of Persephonia and Far Island.

The new flag is a combination of the new flags adopted by each of the five states/regions of Persephonia, all of which contain at their centre the new Persephonian symbol of unity, known as the decastar (a five-pointed star split into 10 triangles representing the 2 national colours of each state/region).

Spor brings a dash of chillstep to BJSC LII for Persephonia, with a little help from Kito & Reija Lee

Persephonia's 31st BuzzJack Song Contest entry (22nd under the name Persephonia and 11th since President Salim Zosimus' unofficial seizure of power in the country) has officially been announced.

Representing the country at the 52nd contest will be British dubstep producer Spor, perhaps more well-known as Feed Me, the producer of Example's UK #30 and #46 smashes 'Midnight Run' and 'Perfect Replacement' (respectively). He shares production credits on this entry, 'Pacifica', with its remixers Kito & Reija Lee, a female DJ/vocal duo, Australian-born, UK-based.

The track dates back to May 2011 but was only discovered in Persephonia a couple of months ago and has been in the pipeline for BJSC submission since. Listen below and feel free to leave any feedback.

The contest is being held in Aeroche for the third time in just seven contests - it'd be the fourth if they hadn't relinquished their hosting rights to Ramrynia on one occasion - following the country's fourth win last month with Kate Boy's 'Northern Lights'. Persephonia's record stands at one qualification and one DNQ on Aerochian soil. Early predictions sadly place 'Pacifica' in the latter category but we shall not give up hope in these early days.

Persephonia qualify for the fifth time in a row with 'Pacifica'

In a nailbitingly tense reveal, Persephonia were left as the second last semi-final one qualifier in the 52nd edition of the BuzzJack Song Contest, held in Aeroche.

The Persephonian BJSC committee are reportedly surprised and very highly pleased that the entry, the Kito & Reija Lee remix of 'Pacifica' by Spor, made the cut. It is one of the most popular Persephonian entries to date among home crowds but there was more uncertainty over its qualification than in the last two contests.

It thus brings Persephonia's run of consecutive qualifications to five, further extending the national record excluding the artificial run of 11 'qualifications' due to the One Big Final era.

Persephonian voters were largely pleased with the other qualifiers. All but two of the tracks awarded points by Persephonia qualified to the final. Sadly one of the ones that missed out was our 12-pointer, Umiiruka entry 'Insomnie' by Jolie Cherie, but the other was on the opposite end of our voting spectrum, Palmyra's entry 'Closer' by Lulu James which was awarded a single point.

Spor can't avoid the bottom 7, but still gets big points from 3 countries

After the top 20 success for Persephonia in each of the last four BuzzJack Song Contests, LII entry 'Pacifica' by Spor (remixed by Kito & Reija Lee) can't quite live up as it settled in 24th place receiving a total of 58 points.

As the final contained 30 songs, 'Pacifica' finishes in the bottom 7 of the final, putting Persephonia there for the first time since 'How Deep Is Your Love' by The Rapture also came 24th (but that time out of 29) back in BJSC XL. It's not the country's worst performance since then though, as four of the twelve entries since have failed to qualify for the final.

It's also the fewest points received by a Persephonian entry in a BJSC final since The Rapture's track, which scored a slightly lower 55.

Nonetheless, the Persephonian BJSC committee is extremely proud of the performance of the track - it's perhaps the most popular Persephonian entry among home crowds since Salim Zosimus' rise to presidency and was sent in the knowledge it was unlikely to be a big hit.

And there is some solace in the fact that despite scoring quite a bit less than the last few entries, it received at least a point from 15 different countries - the last Persephonian entry to get more than that was 'Beat Dun Drop' by Machines Don't Care feat. Meleka, which had 18 voters in BJSC XLVIII. Since then, Deaf Club had just 12 voters; S O H N also had 15; Roses Gabor had only 14 despite scoring 2/3 more points than Spor.

The gulf between the healthy voting numbers and the comparatively poor overall score is due to the fact a shocking 62% of the points for 'Pacifica' came from just three countries - Danaelanda, Mdiče and Terra Avium who each awarded the song 12 points. No other country gave more than four and only two others gave more than two (4 from Tinnmark and 3 from Skall), with the remaining 10 votes consisting of five 2s and five 1s.

Persephonian News Bulletin will not be publishing a full report about the final. A brief summary of important results:

- Batidas spectacularly recovered from a recent run of poor form to finally get a second win with Zara Larsson's 'Uncover', scoring 148 points

- Fljótavík and the Federal Republic of Ashton made up the top 3 with Little Daylight's 'Overdose' and Tone Damli's controversial 'Smash' respectively

- Ojnoj also made a spectacular return to form coming 4th with 'Like Home' by Nicky Romero and NERVO after 7 contests without making the final at all

- Hosts Aeroche just missed the top 10 with Data Romance's 'She's Been High' finishing 11th

- Danaelanda scored a personal best of 12th with 'Insane' by Flume feat. Moon Holiday

- LI debutants D'yermak'er and Trifoski both improve on their first finishes; the former's 'Move' by Mausi came 13th after their first entry DNQed; the latter's 'Global Concepts' by Robert DeLong came 17th, 3 better than their debut

- Terra Avium sadly come 30th and last once again with Feathers' 'Land Of The Innocent', the second time in a row and the third time in four final appearances that they've come last (their first ever entry coming second last remains their best performance); they lost out on a tie-break with Allecian entry 'The Blow' by YADi, each scoring 45 points

General Persephonian news: new name, Allecian and the next BJSC entry

- The full name of the nation of Persephonia has been changed yet again due to the old name being 'too clunky and slightly misleading'. As of today the country is now officially known as the Federal Union of Persephonia. As the country does not use its full-form name in BJSC, this change will not affect the name we use for the contest. There are no plans for Persephonia to imitate Ashton in switching to a full-form name either.

- President Salim Zosimus has hinted at the prospect of opening a Persephonian embassy in Cuzzick, Allecian as part of the lengthy process of cooling the tense relations between the two countries. The news follows similar news from Allecian HQ that their trade embargo on Persephonian goods has been lifted and there are hopes that the fears of Persephonian-Allecci war breaking out may finally be put to rest.

- In more lighthearted news Persephonia's entry to BJSC LIII has been decided upon by the BJSC Committee of Persephonia after fairly little debate. Due to contest rules we cannot announce what the track is but we can reveal it is by a Norwegian artist, the first Persephonian entry of Scandinavian descent since Karin Park nine contests ago.

Truls representing Persephonia for BJSC LIII in Colpi Golpes, Batidas

We can now announced that our 32nd entry to the BuzzJack Song Contest is 'Out Of Yourself' by Norwegian singer Truls. The song is, as previously reported, the first Scandinavian entry from Persephonia in nine contests and the first by a non-British artist of any nationality in 6 contests.

The last non-British entry from Persephonia was Angel Haze's 'New York' (Haze is from the USA) which was incidentally also the last Persephonian entry to fail to qualify. The Persephonian BJSC Committee trusts that this is a coincidence and hopes that Truls will be able to qualify for the final of the 53rd contest, which is being held in Batidas following their win last contest with 'Uncover' by Zara Larsson.

Listen to the track (and watch its rather unusual video) below:

You might not be aware of this - or even care :P - but 'Out Of Yourself' stormed to #1 on Norway iTunes according to Kworb although it's since slipped down again. I had no idea how popular the song was in Norway. :o
  • Author

I did not know that! Hopefully it'll follow in the footsteps of a certain song entered last contest that was #1 on a Nordic iTunes... :P

I see said song is also #3 on Norwegian iTunes right now! It's a sign.

Truls delivers Persephonia their first ever top 3 and second top 10

After 20 consecutive failed attempts (or 22 including two missed contests) to replicate the top 10 success of Spark's 'Revolving', Persephonia have finalled managed to place themself in the upper echelon again - and do it in style, delivering the nation its first ever top 3 position and finally establishing Persephonia on the medal table after 32 attempts.

The song to break the duck was 'Out Of Yourself' by Norwegian singer Truls. It was already significantly the sixth consecutive Persephonian entry to qualify for the final - a run of qualifications bested at present only by FSR Rontvia's all-conquering run of 41 and Fljótavík's comparatively modest 9 - but it's now certainly sealed its place in Persephonian history by finishing in third place in the 53rd edition of the contest, hosted in Colpi Golpes, Batidas.

Although it beat the Spark track's final position by three places, it fell a point short of taking the outright record for overall points received by a Persephonian entry - stalling as it did on exactly 156 points, the same as 'Revolving'. However, it should be noted that the latter track was sent in one of the contests which used a different scoring system which resulted in significantly inflated numbers, so 'Out Of Yourself' is officially recognised as Persephonia's best performance to date.

Strangely, despite being such a big hit in comparison to the 19-19-14-24 run of our last 4 entries (its overall tally is a point more than our last two entries combined), all 4 of those received at least 2 top scores of 12 from other countries whereas 'Out Of Yourself' received none at all, though it did receive two 10s (D'yermak'er and Kylienips) and six 8s (Greenfroze, Mdiče, Sandebörg, Terra Avium, Trifoski and Varakë). 28 of the 53 total voting countries gave at least a point to Persephonia - more than half.

Final results commentary

The top 3 all reached new peaks - #00274E claimed their first win with 'Look Up' by Carli, taking the lead by 30 points (receiving an impressive 199 points in all). The song had been heavily tipped by almost all bookmakers as the runaway favourite and it certainly didn't disappoint. With 169 then in second place was 'Dance Our Tears Away' by John De Sohn feat. Kristin Amparo, representing Sandebörg. They hadn't even made the top 20 until coming 19th last month. Persephonia, as discussed in detail above, complete the top 3 with 156 points in 3rd.

Just three points behind in fourth place, in contrast to the fresh feel of the top 3, is the nation with the most top three finishes ever - fifteen in all, including seven wins - FSR Rontvia. The Rontvian Club Edit of 'Platinum Chains' by Michael Woods came 4th with 153 points, while another former winner Ingermanlandia came 5th with 'Pumpin Blood' by NONONO, slightly further adrift with 130 points. The song was a return entry for them after they sat out BJSC LII. It's also only their second top 10 hit, with 'Run Boy Run' by Woodkid continuing to dwarf the rest of their entry history with its triumphant 200-point win last year.

Altyr Muunilinst got another top 10 with Quadron's 'Hey Love' coming 6th; hosts Batidas pleasingly outperformed all expectations to come seventh with 'I See You' by Jutty Ranx; D'yermak'er and Ramrynia tied points at 8th/9th with Kelly Sweet's 'Sirens' and Tich's 'Dumb' respectively, though their tie-broken positions are yet to be confirmed (either way it is D'yermak'er's first top 10 success); Aquafina round off the top 10 with their third top 10 success 'Ask Yourself' by Nabiha, also being in a points tie but holding Daehun's entry 'Expectation' by Girl's Day at 11th.

The Federal Republic of Ashton were the lowest placed song to break the 100-point barrier, scoring 101 points in 12th with ZZ Ward's 'Put The Gun Down'. Mezidinia's eighth entry but first ever qualifier 'Ain't Got Time' by M.O finished a respectable 14th. Also making their debut but this time on their first attempt, Yehesi came 20th with 'Wallpaper' by Staygold feat. Style Of Eye and Pow.

Two of Persephonian voters' favourites finished just behind - 12-pointer 'Wolf' by Tailor 21st for Zechonia and 8-pointer 'Luminous' by Alice & The Glass Lake 22nd for Syndare. B.a.N.G who failed to vote in the final thus received a 33% points reduction and their hotly-tipped entry 'Oh Sailor' by Mr Little Jeans has to settle with 27th place. Taking the wooden spoon, coming 30th out of 30, was Ojnoj entry 'Just Go' by Rania - but it has the consolation of equalling the record for most points for last place, with 53.
