I really like the title yes. The lyrics are nice also. Hopefully the "us us us uh us" is damn catchy.

I hope this is more fun pop than electro pop. The lyrics sound like it could be either - and I'm still hoping for Higher Part II! 'What About Us' sounds like an interesting title and I just hope they release it at a good time when they're likely to get #1 AKA January! January is usually dead for new pre-album singles, going by this year they'd easily get #1 with the first week sales of All Fired Up or Missing You.

I hope Sean Paul has nothing to do with this, such an odious man.

They get this kind of sales because of the time they released those songs. August/September/October is a great time for The Saturdays. It's not too busy, but people are still buying quite a lot. It's the perfect time for the girls.

 

They might get to number 1 in January, but probably with sales of 22-35k, not more I think...And it makes me wonder... Is it really that great ? Okay, yeah, they will have a number 1, FINALLY...But imagine if the sales are poor. Or the song isn't even one of their best ! There will be nothing to be proud of...

Clearly this wasn't in their plans. I mean we already know a glimpse of the lyrics of a song that comes out in 5 months, LOL ! :lol: Let's not forget the title, plus the featuring...

 

I wonder how they will keep the buzz steady now. Poor girls.

If I was the management I would release this in November (Promote it before going back to america) I would also release the single in the Usa as soon as it premieres in the UK. Therefore they can promote the USA and it could be shown on there documentary. I can't see whats going to go on there show tbh!

See, if it was for me, I'd release it tomorrow so I could listen to it. But we need to think about success, schedule, the tv-show and stuff. And when you think about these, you kind of understand why they are aiming for January...

Heart premierred way to soon, or should have been released earlier.

A very strange scenario to have details/rumours about the single many months before its planned release. I'm keeping my level of interest in this single very low until a more appropriate time. Some fans are already getting rather carried away with this!

MHTO premiered on September 29, I think. It was released on November 13. It's their usual 6 weeks before the release. Nothing has changed. It has been like that for nearly every Saturdays releases.

 

I'm pretty sure there has been #1 with very low sales this year. However, my point is... We can't say they are going to score 69k again in the next single's first week only because All Fired Up did. There's so much behind that (airplay, promotion, buzz, quality of the song, competition, other big releases that can overshadow The Sats, etc!)

 

January is a good time for release. Wasn't Issues also released in January ? It did well. So did Ego.

 

We all want them to release it in October/November, so we can hear the song in the next few weeks. But we have to think that they need a successful single this time. God, think about it. MHTO and 30 Days flopped so hard. I mean 80k for #7 ?! Really ? And let's not even talk about OYR who did worse than Wordshaker (who at least went top 10). All Fired Up did well, but considering how good that song was, it's a real shame. Notorious did okay considering the OA/OS... And now we're in 2010 with Higher. Can you believe that their last really successful single was released in 2010 ?! That means a lot.

 

They need to take their time and make their new single a real success.

 

Although, I gotta say it's really funny they release a song called "What About Us ?" after the releases of StooShe, Little Mix, MKS and Girls Aloud. LOL. :lol:

They are launching a frikking TV show in the US (that will most likely air in the UK too) and promote it, so it's not like they are going to hide in a cave until 2013.

 

Also they need to release this single after the show premieres, as right now they don't have enough media support to get strong sales.

The fact we are still talking about #1s despite having great first week and overall sales proves that having a top-chart single is important. Even if it doesn't get big sales it will be great publicity.

I'm talking about the hype around the song, not the band. I'm pretty sure the band is going to be totally fine with pictures of them looking hotter than any other girlbands' member. It's not because they are off the charts that people don't hear about them. They are quite popular with the media so it's all fine.

 

But I'm talking about the next single here. If news keep leaking, it won't be good for the buzz of this new song. How can someone be excited about a song that comes out in 5 months if you already know everything ? Think about it. We know the featuring with Sean Paul. We know the title. We know some lyrics. We have seen their outfits. We know the release date (maybe not official, but the one they are aiming for). The only thing left is the song and who knows how long we're gonna wait to get a simple preview of it. So if they are aiming for a January release as they planned, well, I don't think we're gonna hear anything before December. So there you got September, October and November. That's like 90 days. I mean what else can they give us ? I'm thinking the complete lyrics, but hey, it's not worth a listen to the song. They won't give a preview that soon, obviously. So yeah, basically I don't see how they can built hype around that song for that long..but releasing it sooner would also be a huge mistake. So yeah, as always, it's a usual day in The Saturdays world where their management can't get a release done correctly.

 

Aaaah feels so good to be a Sats fan...

They should premiere the single in November (maybe earlier since its such a busy release period) and release a video in late November/early December for a release in the second week of January.

 

It's a shame all this information has leaked because we know everything about the song, we just need to hear it! Maybe they'll end up releasing it in October with the TV show following a visit back to the UK to promote their single?

I don't exactly know where this fits in but my friend told me he was approached to do some motion graphic work for The Saturdays.........unfortunately he had to decline because of personal reasons. I don't even know what that is but it sounds interesting. He tweeted me but his tweet has been removed...
