Posted June 10, 201213 yr Gary Barlow and The Commonwealth Band makes it the 1197th UK number 1 of all time, Cheryl looks like she'll get 1198 next week, Flo Rida and Maroon 5 will likely be battling out for 1199 in two weeks when the physical of Whistle comes out that week and Will I am, Jason Derulo and Taio Cruz release their new singles in the week of the earliest possible opportunity for 1200. The countdown has begun. Edited June 17, 201213 yr by zenon
June 10, 201213 yr Will I Am will get it. He might. It would be great if he could! But he might not if the song underperforms like T.H.E did, or if Cheryl spends 2 weeks at #1.
June 10, 201213 yr Cascada - Evacuate the Dancefloor. I can't believe we've had 100 #1s between then and now! :o That's crazy. :( And it seems so recent (although we've had a lot of 1 weekers the past few years, but still!). That was when I Gotta Feeling and Sexy Chick was popular.
June 10, 201213 yr Hallowed footsteps to follow in indeed. Where's an Elvis re-release schedule when you need one?
June 10, 201213 yr Exactly. I tell you what. Why don't we launch a campagin to get Elvis back on top of the charts with so many of his records.
June 10, 201213 yr It all adds up to nonsense. If you count every #1 from every music paper & the BBC from 1952 onwards, then you find that the 1200th #1, was actually some 5 years ago!

That was when I Gotta Feeling and Sexy Chick was popular. It will be the second quickest span of 100 #1s I think - the shortest time was between the 800th (September 1998) and the 900th (June 2001). Just goes to show how the turnover of #1s has gotten a little ridiculous again after looking like it was levelling out to a nice middle ground of not too fast and not too slow when downloads first came in before record companies learnt to control the releases better again. In comparison the gap between the 1000th and the 1100th was four and a half years...
June 10, 201213 yr Will.i.am should get it unless 'Payphone' holds up, but I am sure 'This Is Love' will be massive.
June 10, 201213 yr Jason Derulo is releasing a single? Which one? I think it's a brand new single (maybe for a new album). I haven't heard it yet, but I saw it high on US iTunes the other day.
June 12, 201213 yr Will.I.Am will probably get it after hearing the track for the first time, I don't really like the track gets a bit repetitive towards the end of the track mind you T.H.E just stalled at #2 in the end, this could do the same. I'd rather see Maroon 5 hold on till something decent comes along if Maroon 5 get there. It be a virtually a run of 1 weekers at #1 after Rita Ora/RIP after holding on for 2 weeks.

Actually, it went to #3 :( I think the number ones are likely to go like this 18 June - Cheryl Cole "Call My Name" 25 June - Maroon 5 feat. Wiz Khalifa "Payphone" 02 July - will.i.am feat. Eva Simons "This Is Love" 09 July - Flo Rida "Whistle" With recent promotion from The Voice, it's unlikely that Maroon 5 and will.i.am will under perform and I think both will be #1. The week after will is a dead one so I think Flo Rida will do a Good Feeling/We Are Young and finally go to #1 then.

Or if Payphone has anything like the staying power of MLJ, a return to no.1 on July 9th.

June 13, 201213 yr On the mere 30k/wk it's likely to be selling by then?? Says someone who thought Fun had no chance of no.1 after their sales started dropping :) But then neither did I, and I don't think many on here thought so either. Edited June 13, 201213 yr by Col1967
June 15, 201213 yr 18 June - Cheryl - Call My Name 25 June - Flo Rida - Whistle 02 July - will.i.am - This Is Love 09 July - will.i.am - This Is Love / Flo Rida - Whistle That's how I think the #1's will go for the next few weeks. Can't see anything stopping will.i.am getting the 1200th #1 (as if it really means anything)
