Posted June 15, 201213 yr The Voice to receive £5m boost for 2013 - report Source: MW 15 June, 2012 By Rhian Jones BBC talent show The Voice is set to undergo a £5million makeover in time for 2013. Following the mammoth fall in ratings from the early stages of the competition - which pulled in 10.7 million viewers to a series low of 4.5 million for the semi final - producers are set to make changes to the format. The Daily Star reports that the budget for the show will be £13m and show creators Endemol and the BBC are trying to work out how to make it ‘bigger and better’. Judge and rapper will.i.am has reportedly hinted he won’t return next year and replacement rumours are pointing to Eurythmics star Annie Lennox. A show spokesman told the Daily Star: “We are more than happy with our coaches and are in talks with them now to be a part of the second series.” =============== Goodbye Will, hello Annie :D
June 15, 201213 yr I can't see how introducing Annie Lennox would bring ratings up AT ALL, she's got lots of experience and everything, yes. But, Annie Lennox, is she really gonna bring viewers in? I think not.
June 15, 201213 yr Personally I feel like Annie's inevitable monologues about HIV+ African orphans and the artifice of the contemporary music industry will be just the boost this show needs.
June 15, 201213 yr If they put Annie Lennox on it I wouldn't watch it at all. Can't stand that woman at all!
June 16, 201213 yr I know Annie is a legend with lots of experience, but A) She wouldn't do this and B) She's no better than Tom Jones for so called 'bringing in ratings'. At the end of the day, we need someone pretty current, the target audience of The Voice aren't gonna watch for Annie Lennox
June 16, 201213 yr Oh god, it's like euro music is in charge of it. Should we be thankful it's Annie Lennox and not bloody Lulu?
June 17, 201213 yr http://www.dingsme.info/avatar13.jpgI hope they stick with the coaches, I really liked them all this year!
June 27, 201212 yr Tom Jones and Jessie J can go, and be replaced with Una Healy and Rita Ora. You want to replace Tom Jones with Una Healy? Talk about making the show an ever bigger joke. And Rita Ora? Jessie was criticised for being too new and not having been around long enough this year, Rita Ora hasn't even released an album yet, I am thinking maybe a couple of years down the line, if she is still 'flavour of the month' then I suppose I could accept that.
July 1, 201212 yr I'm sure the BBC could twist will's arm. He's practically been adopted by the UK now. I mean he even got to carry the torch. Make it happen! Annie Lennox = instant switch off
July 1, 201212 yr I really really hope Will doesn't stay, he was so irritating! I liked him at the start, he was a refreshing personality compared to most judges on these shows but he was almost intolerable towards the end... My ideal panel would be something like: Tinie Tempah (a younger, cool male) Robbie Williams or similair (experienced slightly older male) Rita Ora/Jessie J (cool young talented female) Kylie Minogue (experienced slightly older female) I don't mind Danny staying though, I liked him. Tom is borderline, he's alright but the name dropping is so annoying to say the least!
July 2, 201212 yr Oh god, it's like euro music is in charge of it. Should we be thankful it's Annie Lennox and not bloody Lulu? I'd rather have Lulu over Annie Lennox anytime. Annie Lennox is so wooden and Lulu has loads of TV experience. I definately will not be watching if they bring in Annie Lennox. My coaches would be - (Mmm - difficult one this) Kylie or Lulu or Sophie Ellis-Bextor Adele or Rhianna or Amy MacDonald Robbie Williams or Phil Collins Ed Sheeran or Chris Martin Edited July 2, 201212 yr by euro music
July 5, 201212 yr What the f*** is this obsession with Rita Ora? She looks like Rihanna and has had one major hit with a Drake song?! She'll be forgotten about by next year! (Sorry, it's just I see her name everywhere and just don't understand the fascination). Annie Lennox would be an awful addition. The X-Factor works so well because it's full of dramatics, theatrical productions, characterful (I could easily argue against that however) judges! The Voice starts of well, but into the live stages just becomes dull - they have to really address that problem and revamp it. Would just like to point out that I thought Will.i.am was excellent on The Voice!
July 5, 201212 yr I'd rather have Lulu over Annie Lennox anytime. Annie Lennox is so wooden and Lulu has loads of TV experience. I definately will not be watching if they bring in Annie Lennox. My coaches would be - (Mmm - difficult one this) Kylie or Lulu or Sophie Ellis-Bextor Adele or Rhianna or Amy MacDonald Robbie Williams or Phil Collins Ed Sheeran or Chris Martin Lulu, Amy MacDonald, Phil Collins and Ed Sheeran? Excuse me while I euthanise Saturday night.
July 8, 201212 yr I really really hope Will doesn't stay, he was so irritating! I liked him at the start, he was a refreshing personality compared to most judges on these shows but he was almost intolerable towards the end... I actually think Will.I.Am was getting increasingly bored of the show as it progressed. You could tell by the way he gave his comments towards the end of the series. The UK production team need to look at Australia's recent series and identify what did the Australians do so right. Their winner Karise dominated Australia's singles chart - she had three singles in the top 5 last week. :o Karise's album has now gone straight to no. 1 in the Aussie album chart. The UK's winner Leanne Mitchell fails to make the top 40 with 'Run To You' and there's no sign of her releasing an album anytime soon. So something clearly went wrong with the UK show compared to Australia's version.
July 8, 201212 yr Jessie J and Will were my favourite judges. I cant see how this show can be saved the public just havent warmed to it.The second series will definetely be the last. I expect all 3 existing judges to jump ship. Annie Lennox way to good for this.
August 24, 201212 yr Is this going to be the thread for series 2? I'll post this in here then :D Jessie confirmed on Twitter last night she will be returning for series 2, and here is Digital Spy's article on it: Jessie J confirms 'The Voice' UK series two return: 'Can't wait' Jessie J has confirmed that she will return for the second series of The Voice UK. The 'Price Tag' singer's future on the BBC reality show had been in some doubt after a number of newspaper reports suggested that she would not coach the next run. However, the 24-year-old has taken to Twitter to rubbish the rumours and announce her involvement in series two. "I WILL be a coach on the 2nd series of The Voice UK!" she said. "I'm B B B BACK! "As I have always said. Unless you hear it from me- Don't always believe what you read! Can't wait! #thevoiceuk #weback *fist to the sky*" Fellow coach Sir Tom Jones recently hinted that he would return to the Saturday night singing contest too, and revealed that will.i.am and Danny O'Donoghue are also likely to continue on the show. Annie Lennox, Sir Cliff Richard and Lulu have all previously been linked to spots on the second series of the programme. The Voice UK will return to BBC One in spring 2013.
August 24, 201212 yr Whatever happens, the producers of the UK format will have to look at why the show has been so successful in other countries, and to make the second series like that. I still think The Voice had a few flaws in the live shows - mainly, each coach HAD to have one act in the final. That's the one thing I didn't agree with, but next year they might well change the format so that it works better. Also whoever wins should perform their song again and announce the winner's single is available to download. I know the BBC don't advertsie but if they can't allow for things like this to be featured in the final then the BBC shouldn't be broadcasting The Voice. If series 2 is a disaster, then they should lay it to rest. Or let Channel 4 revamp the show. There is potential there just as long as the talent is too (just don't have all the singers screaming their faces off and pass it off as singing - it really IS a major switch off)
September 23, 201212 yr I have my audition for this tomorrow in front of the producers, I am really hoping I make it to the round in front of the judges although if I don't then at least I can say I gave it a go :kink:
