So...

What will everybody's excuses be if Pound the Alarm fails to top 500,000 sales by the end of the year?

Excuse? It'll either perform amazingly, or it'll just underperform.

I'd say 500,000 is very good anyway, and wouldn't be underperfoming in my eyes, since I never expected more from it.

I predict the excuse most people would use (if it does sell less than Starships) would be something to do with the music video (the timing of it being released). I do think they might take a while to release the music video tbh, since she's signed to Young Money, who don't even do music videos for like half their singles, let alone strategically release them at the most beneficial time a la Katy Perry, and Starships only re-peaked in the US a couple of week ago, so I think they'll still want to wait a little while for it to die down a bit more before promoting Pound the Alarm, but it will probably already be top 10 over here by then.

Pound The Alarm will come nowhere Starships. As much as I love the song and 90% of the album its a silly single choice. It's incredible in clubs etc, but Nicki is capable of so much more, that this era is failing to show.

Roman Holiday, Marilyn Monroe, Young Forever, Beez in the Trap and countless others would have been better.

Having said that, goooo Pound The Alarm and smash!! :kink:

Irish discount pile is exactly the same but they have more songs, I would have loved to see the same songs discounted for the Uk like....

Cheryl Cole - Promise This

Rita Ora - R.I.P

Demi Lovato - Give Your Heart A Break

Aiden Grimshaw - Is This Love

Taio Cruz & Flo Rida - Hangover

Avicii - Levels

Calvin Harris - Lets Go

Paloma Faith - Picking Up The Pieces

Edit: Labrinth - Express Yourself has just been reduced to 59p

Ooh! 'Dark Side' is #42! Hopefully with all the multiple versions above it combined, it's enough to secure her a second week top 40!

Why is Runaway Baby back in the top 100?

I really think Bruno could've stretched a LOT more singles out with that album tbh (not that I wanted him to, but still ). I think Count On Me and Talking to the Moon could've also gone top 40, even without music videos, as long as Radio 1 and Capital both played them.

It's up to #66 now! Where was he when you posted this? (Just wondering if her was just inside the top 100 as he's climbed quite a few places if he was!)

But I agree with you in regards to 'Count On Me' and 'Talking To The Moon' (especially the latter - the former was receiving a fair amount of airplay though, considering it wasn't a single, wasn't it?)

(Oh and 'Pound The Alarm' is already up to #60, too!)

Baddiel, Skinner & The Lightning Seeds - Three Lions #73

Could be #1 on 1st July if everything goes according to plan

No chance.

I can't remember where Runaway Baby was. But I think it's still climbing.

Yeah, Count On Me got a lot of airplay. Mainly from Heart FM, and it charted in the top 100 a few times. I was so confused the first time I heard it on Heart.

Picking Up The Pieces - Paloma Faith  10

Wide Awake - Katy Perry  12 (top 10 please!)

Paloma back in the top 10! Ooft. Just as Katy is coming though. I would love for Paloma to climb higher before Katy plans on entering! (Although I highly doubt it)

It's going to be a tough call for who appears at #11 on the update. It's been Usher-Gary-Paloma for the good part of the week, but multiple versions of each are ordered Paloma-Gary-Usher, so not really sure who'll be stuck at #11 in the update; I'm anticipating Usher's 'Scream'.

24. Pitbull 'Back in Time'

34. Professor Green 'Remedy (feat. Ruth Anne)' :left:

55. Nicki Minaj 'Pound the Alarm'

Went to purchase 'Remedy' yesterday but realised the EP didn't contain the radio edit/radio mix. Shame really, I'm only interested in purchasing the TMS-produced version, judging by Wikipedia it's only available on the promotional CD single though.

Paloma back in the top 10 :o Good to see her doing so well, 'Picking Up The Pieces' is growing on me loads. Yay at Gary FINALLY dropping out of the top 10 also. And Katy heading for the top 10 too, I hope she knocks out Carly rather than Paloma.

Plan B up to #47 with 'Lost My Way', hopefully this could still go top 40 at least when the album comes out like Amy Macdonald nearly did with 'Slow It Down' (got to #45).

Flo Rida back up to 0.6 (although there's obviously still the second 'Payphone' currently on 0.1326).
