Bieber has put Believe down to £4.99

Believe has been £4.99 all week anyway.

Hope Justin holds on!

Why would she stick around anywhere near that well?

Cos the sales are so low at the moment :coffee: She'd only need 20k to go top etc

Probably something similar to or slightly over "A Thousand Suns", except HAO had a million-selling single to boost it. Makes me think it might be a pretty easy ride for LP, I certainly hope so.

I'd say 1. M5, 2. LP but we'll see next week. Will be interesting anyway

And no way Cheryl will be #1 if she doesn't do it this week.

OMG her label is so desperate to have a #1 album. By lowering the price so much, they will get next to nothing.

Bieber has been selling his album the same price all week long and I didn't see you complaining.

But oh wait, this is Cheryl. -_-

Coldplay are promoting Cheryl's album on FB and Twitter, it could get her some extra sales :cheer:

LP album>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> M5 album.

And I used to love both bands in the past but the LP album is really great while the M5 album is pure shit.

Amazon very often do different promotions, they was selling Lady Gaga album for 0.99$. So probably current price of Cheryl and Justin album is a new promotion.

Not in the first week of sales...

Yes in the first week of sales. Amazon reduced Born This Way to $0.99 in week one. There was a huge fuss made over it.

And yes, why criticise Cheryl's album's price drop, but yet fail to acknowledge that Bieber's has been that price all week.

Why would she still be outselling Bieber at that point, let alone next week's releases? Chris Brown is a more likely #1 IMO.

I'm a bit shocked to see Cheryl back to number 1 on the iTunes album chart. Maybe she's getting a nice little boost at the end of the week (or Bieber's sales were very frontloaded). It's such a pity we don't get pop bars on the album chart.

Midweek Charts update: 100,000 and counting for Payphone

Source:

11:45 | Friday June 22, 2012

By Paul Williams

The UK’s number one single will top 100,000 sales for the third consecutive week this Sunday after Maroon 5’s Payphone this week already reached six figures.

The A&M/Octone/Polydor track, which features Wiz Khalifa, hit 109,476 sales in its first week of release by the end of business on Thursday, according to the Official Charts Company, leaving it two more days to build on that number.

Its six-figure tally so far this week follows the Decca track Sing by Gary Barlow and the Commonwealth Band selling 142,470 downloads a fortnight ago to achieve the highest sales for a number one this year, only for Polydor’s Call My Name by Cheryl Cole to beat that a week later after opening with 152,001 units.

Cole’s single is now down to two on the midweeks, although she remains a contender to top the UK artist albums chart this weekend. Her Polydor set A Million Lights has been behind fellow new release Believe by Def Jam/Mercury’s Justin Bieber all week and that remained the situation up until midnight on Thursday night.

RCA’s Paloma Faith continues to benefit from her chat and performance on Graham Norton’s BBC One show last Friday with sales of Fall To Grace up 37% on the week to lift it 5-3 in the midweeks. In its second week on sales Vertigo/Mercury’s Amy Macdonald album Life In A Beautiful Light drops 2-4 at this stage of the week as Virgin act Emeli Sande’s Our Version Of Events moves back up 6-5. Last Sunday’s number one, the Decca-issued Sing by Gary Barlow and the Commonwealth Band, is down to six in the week so far.

In the singles market Warner Bros act Stooshe look like scoring a second top five hit with Black Heart showing up as a new entry at four, placing it between Atlantic act Flo Rida’s Whistle (down 2-3) and the Parlophone track Princess Of China by Coldplay and Rihanna (down 4-5).

I'm glad Cheryl Cole didnt get the number 1 album. She's not very good anyway and was lucky to have her first two albums go to no1.

What's lucky about them? They both had very good opening sales in competitive weeks, I don't get your point.
