Also if Cheryl doesn't get to no. 1 this week with her album, I don't see why the album can't get to no. 1 when the next single is released. There have been so many times when an artist has released a new single from an album already in the charts, and said album returns to no. 1 in the album chart.

But her previous album didn't have legs at all, it sold almost 1/3 of its total in its first week IIRC

How is it suddenly back at #1 on iTunes then?

Shock, how it's possible that one of the most popular artist in uk is back at no.1 :P

It's been reduced on iTunes as well though?

EDIT: Oh wait, no it hasn't. How is it suddenly back at #1 on iTunes then? I assumed it had been reduced to get there :o

Coldplay twittered Cheryls album itunes link to there 7 million followers this morning, It also went on there facebook page which has like 21 million, Dont know if that had anything to do with it.

It's as if Cheryl's record company have already regarded this album as a failure because Justin Bieber's album is outselling it.

Also you have to take into account, the last two albums were released towards the end of the year when she was a judge on the X Factor, and sales are usually high towards the last quarter of the year for albums. The record company should have realised that as well.

I might as well join in with the Cheryl brigade. ^_^

Not quite that drastic. 105,000 in the first week, and at least 480,000 in total (an estimate of 481k was given back in December 2011). All in all, not terrible considering it only had one hit of worth.

People are anxious over whether Cheryl Cole or Justin Bieber will get the No.1 album? I think i've seen it all now...

Although i admit, the obligatory Buzzjack meltdown if Cheryl loses out would be rather entertaining

Ah ok, that was decent although not spectacular by any means given the fact that it was released six weeks before Christmas backed by X Factor exposure and #1 single.

I'd be very surprised if this album gets anywhere near platinum status without Xmas sales & the X Factor hype. Cheryl's only the most popular artist in the UK to her little soldiers. She'll shift 99p downloads but without continual hype she ain't talented enough to shift albums.

Another mysterious argument- I'm not really a Cheryl fan although I like a few of her tracks BUT your statement seems to be implying that you have to be talented to shift albums?

Hello Robson & Jerome.

AGAIN, you're missing the point!

They both have an album at the same price, and Cheryl is above Justin, deal with this ;)

My point was you can't read anything into a chart comparison where one album is selling for around 35% of the price of another. That fact than an album which is £13 is so high is quite an achievement given that anyone with a brain who wants a physical copy of it won't be buying it from Amazon.

So? it's been one day since it has been reduced. You could get Bieber's album from Play.com for 6.99 with a DVD, poster etc during the first 4 days and Amazon has had the digital album reduced to 4.99 since the first day.

Because she didn't promote it, Parachute helped the 3 Words album a lot.

I'm leaning increasingly towards supporting Bieber for the number 1 :P great to see Shake It Out top 40, I didn't know it was doing that well with a price reduction! Incredibly stale singles chart, Titanium and 212 still climbing?

Why are album sales so absolutely dire? I know Adele managed to keep them afloat a bit last year but without her the sales certainly wouldn't have been this bad.

Oh my God! I didn't say you can't get it AT the same price, but not on Amazon. All you are doing is proving MY point. You CANNOT compare a chart on a website when one album is selling for £5 and one is selling for £13, given that anyone with brains will be buying a physical of Cheryl from Amazon and physical of Justin from elsewhere. Is it really that hard to comprehend?! The Amazon chart comparison means absolutely sod all!

I believe this is the emoticon you're after! :banghead:

Justin Bieber is being sold for £13 on Amazon, it's hardly much of an achievement if she manages to limp ahead of an album that's selling 2 1/2 the price.

Can somebody buy him for 13 quid and lock him away? Oh, you meant the CD :(
