Popjustice wrote a typically lengthy piece about their upcoming single: http://www.popjustice.com/briefing/parade-...-rubbish/96086/

Here's an extract:

The big one at the moment, though, is a track called ‘Light Me Up’. They’ve done the song with Tim Powell, whose work most of you will know due to it being virtually every single thing in Girls Aloud’s back catalogue, but he’s got Sugababes, Saint Etienne, Paloma Faith and Pet Shop Boys in his discography too. Anyway the point is that ‘Powello’ knows one end of a decent song from another and both ends of ‘Light Me Up’ have AMAZING written on them, like an extremely good pop version of seaside rock, although seaside rock with ‘AMAZING’ written on one end would have something more like ‘GNIZAMA’ written on the other. But the point stands, ‘Light Me Up’ is a bonafide cracker.
A friend of mine (who hates Parade  ) wrote this:

I still think these are deadweight but honest to god, the new track they're about to drop? IT'S SICK. Honestly one of the best songs I've heard this year.

... she also reckons it's better than Little Mix's 'Wings'. https://twitter.com/oneofthosefaces/status/...927877500207104

+ Here's a 20 second clip:

Quite intrigued by this, and surprised they've been given a second chance! It's still the same line-up, but they're on a different label now.

I thought we had heard the last of them with their #171 SMASH HIT wood certified album (I SWEAR I read they split?), quite surprised they're getting another chance at all now to be honest!

Light Me Up sounds very good admittedly, I loved Louder for some reason but Perfume was shit dull and the album was terrible, at least this sounds like it should be worth a listen. I will obviously hold judgement for now and it's just a very vague teaser.

They were never good first time around, how they got a top ten hit out of the vanilla "Louder", I still don't understand. The follow-up, whatever its name was, was so much better. This sounds like it's trying to bandwagon the faux dubstep (aka Sugababes' last single that I also don't remember the name of) scene which is a year out of date too...
I think there fanbase alone will get them another top 30 tbh, but there's no way the radio will support Parade in the slightest. There album was arguably underperformed more than anyone last year, I mean I doubt it's even passed 5,000 sales, which might even be a understatement!

They have a fanbase?

They have a fanbase?

How do you think they got to #10? I have some friends who work/ed with this lot and believe me, they have a set of mental fans just like GaGa, Bieber, Lambert, etc. It's even scarier really since they've had barely any success whatsoever.

'Light Me Up' sounds quite good. They're nice girls but I just can't bring myself to care all that much.

'Light Me Up' sounds quite good, although apparently it's absolutely no indication of the musical direction they're going in. They're nice girls but I just can't bring myself to care all that much.

There fanbase are AWFUL, I remember when All Fired Up came out and they were trying to tell everyone not to purchase any Saturdays song.

Debut single, which has mass promotion and a decent hook?

Yeah their fans can make Little Monsters, Beliebers and Directioners seem tame at times from I've seen! Vicious, nasty and bitchy, jealous of anyone who dares sell more than the smash hit album they had.

I'd hardly say it got "mass promotion", but alright, refer to 'Perfume' somehow scraping the top forty.

 @ wood certified

Every J-pop fan in the country thought it was the new song Parade by Perfume? Pareedo Pareedo ^_^

oh lawd i rly don't understand how a concept can fail, hardly make enough money for the bus home and then be deemed good enough to sign again. sounds like it's gonna be a STINKER (n)
Just had a listen...now you see this is what the Little Mix single SHOULD have sounded like. Alas knowing sod's law it will probably flop while everyone continues wetting their pants over 'Wings'...

'Louder' was pretty bad, but 'Perfume' was in the top 5 worst songs I heard last year. :puke2: Totally awful.

I too am surprised they're still being given a chance, not that I expect this to go anywhere.

I had a huge soft spot for both 'Louder' and in particular 'Perfume'! Really don't get the hate. I never gave their album a listen, but reviews and some of the clips were dreadful, so I never bothered.

This sounds promising and I'm very glad they've been given another chance. Hopefully the success of Stooshe and Little Mix, means girl bands are the next big things again!

The chorus is nice. The rest totally forgettable. I think they'd need better to make an impact on the charts again...

Ooh, this is quite good! I wanted something a bit more vocal based, but it's definitely a step in the right direction compared to their first album. (which I enjoyed, but the production let them down)

I'd say "Ticking On It", "Weatherman", "Rokstar" and "Rollercoaster" are worth a listen but, considering I'm on of their few fans, the rest wasn't that great.

Pleasantly surprised by that! I liked 'Louder' but 'Perfume' was quite awful. However, I'm really liking this but I can't see Parade getting any success again and I'm sure they will know that too.
You can download it for free, so I assume it's just a buzz single. I can't see airplay backing Parade tbh!
