Anyone else stressing that Katy Perry's going to be a bit of a problem for 'Applause' going to #1? :drama: It just struck me that it could be problematic, it's being released on the 12th (1 week before 'Applause'). We could have another Tik Tok/Bad Romance situation in the US.

 

And isn't a bit on-purpose from Katy's label to release all of a sudden now that Gaga's releasing. Or am I being delusional? It's a little TOO coincidental for my liking!

I'm unsure if both (or either) will debut at #1, with streaming counting as well now. It's possible though if Applause has Born This Way type sales I guess. Same goes for Roar if it matches Part Of Me.

 

In the UK, it's actually possible though. I'm sorry bu it's ridiculous to suggest Katy decided to release on the 12th just because of Gaga, simply because Applause was announced first.

Those lyrics seem good (although spelling out A-P-P-L-A-U-S-E is a mouthful and a half if that's what she's planning on doing). Definitely getting the fun club-banger tees off it now which is just what's needed.

Someone on Popjustice just mentioned that during the day when Katy announced news of her comeback to the scene with "Roar", Gaga tweeted Applause once again and some are assuming either her or her record label is worried that she might overshadow her. Oh well, this competition is healthy though and I sincerely hope the media doesn't create a big thing out of it.

I'm oh so late in noticing all this even happening but dear lord I love the artwork for that single. Implies that this could be a track with hidden sadness behind a typically upbeat image.
