I can't think of any other songs that were top 10 on itunes but not officially

Hair by Lady Gaga is another one.

Marry You by Bruno Mars and Love Love by Take That went top 10 on iTunes. Also It's My Life/Confessions Part II, Gives You Hell and Telephone by Glee Cast.

 

There was also a song that went top 10 on iTunes and missed the top 40 officially. It was a charity song, but I can't remember what it was now.

 

Also, Best Behaviour by N-Dubz went top 10 on iTunes.

I think maybe it was Girls by N-Dubz then. It was around the time What's My Name? was popular. One of their songs went top 10 on iTunes on its release day and got knocked out again almost straight away. I was gutted. :(

Take That 'Love Love' got as high as #3 on iTunes but only managed an official UK chart peak of #15.

I can remember when this was keeping 'My Wicked Heart' out of the top 10 for ages on iTunes (well a couple of days :kink:)! It was so annoying, Diana just couldn't quite get in there! Just think where Diana might be now if she had got into that top 10. She could have got the top 10 effect, ended up top 5 probably! Then she'd have her next album out by now. So many what ifs! :drama:

I disagree. Diana going top 10 would have given her the top 10 effect, presumably boosting her to a position where she was comfortable in the top 10. That could have resulted in a surge in airplay, perhaps giving My Wicked Heart longevity, perhaps letting the SFTTCT re-release actually happen, and perhaps letting her keep her record deal. Diana going top 10 on iTunes could have changed the course of her career dramatically, people shouldn't underestimate the power of the top 10 effect.

I don't even like her, I'm just stating what I believe to be true. And I do think small things like My Wicked Heart going to #8 instead of #13 could have made a big difference. Of course there are lots of "could haves" and "perhaps" there, My Wicked Heart getting the top 10 effect might not have resulted in an airplay surge at all and then everything after that would obviously not have happened. But it's entirely possible (even likely, I think) that it going top 10 could have done everything I said in my post. Seemingly insignificant things can have massive affects.
