I disagree. Jáhq (and/or anyone else who was after her) will understandably be a bit pissed off and it's unfortunate but it's not like the mods have randomly changed any rules, it's just that until now everybody accepted that a vetoed entry was unusable forever based on... no evidence. I have to wonder if this will open the floodgates for many previously vetoed entries to get sent, but I imagine anything that's been vetoed previously would be hugely harmed by the fact that they're well known and old. If Kerli's Zero Gravity was sent now I doubt I'd vote for it, despite loving it when it came out.

Yes but Kerli is a bad example anyways as its been too long since its came out and by then, people would've already been bored of it. Diandra was sent the contest after being vetoed and thus the interest in it hasn't faded off completely yet. (Or so I believe)? I guess this would just open the gate up for entries that have been vetoed before but ends up getting sent the second time around after hype fades off the surrounding track.

OH and Liam sent f(x)! (Sorta guessed it before though :P) and in my semi as well. You are NOT DNQing Liam as you have me in your semi. :D

Not quite. While it wasn't vetoed originally, Karma Karma was VERY old when it got sent and still came top 5. There is the potential for old vetos to do well, but the mods would look at them as a new entry into the contest. The bad publicity around a track that has been previously vetoed (essentially the same as 'very uninspired' for all intents and purposes) may even put people off, look what happened to Sabrina Washington last year.

I can't say what'll happen to Diandra but I don't think the contest will suffer from it being in.

There aren't many previous vetos that could conceivably still be sent as an entry anyway. The only one that really springs to mind is Water Against The Rocks and I suspect it would suffer backlash similar to what's happening here as it's a well known vetoed track.

That could come across as unfair on those who tried sending it last contest, only for it to be vetoed and not realizing they can attempt again wouldn't it?

We never said vetoed entries would be permanently vetoed from all forthcoming contests and it's up to participants to measure how likely it is their entry is going to be vetoed. The hype surrounding Diandra last time was very apparant, this time it isn't. There have been a number of entries that have been allowed through in recent months that probably would have been banned had people try to enter them sooner. The vetoing process is all about eliminating songs that go against the spirit of the contest at the time of any contest's confirmation period and in this month's edition, Diandra doesn't go against it enough like it did in the last edition.

People can try and enter Kerli again, but I doubt it would do very well. A lot of the songs that are vetoed are very "flash-in-the-pan" and are only vetoed because they could very easily storm to victory and then a couple of months down the line be seen as unworthy winners because everybody is suddenly bored of those songs. We'll have to wait and see what happens with Diandra this time, but for me personally, last month I could see it potentially winning undeservedly due to hype whereas this time if it wins, it'll be more due to the song's merit.

Fair enough point then, I understand now. :D

I wonder how Diandra will fare his contest though, surely a guaranteed qualify to the finals or will people be put off by the track due to this fiasco? :o

But 'hype' is subjective. Surely the very least that can be done is to send a PM to whoever wanted that vetoed entry when it does become available.

Semi 1? I spy a mere two people who I'd think may like my track there.

Am I one of them?

Am I one of them?

I didn't spot you... although it may be your thing as you have a soft spot for downtempo trippy stuff don't you?

But 'hype' is subjective. Surely the very least that can be done is to send a PM to whoever wanted that vetoed entry when it does become available.

That vetoed entry was always available for this contest though. Every contest is like a fresh start in a way, it's up to participants to decide whether they want to try and risk submitting a previously vetoed entry again in a following edition in the hope our stance on those entries may have changed over time.

Somehow I'm ALWAYS in the same Semi as Dandy* (not complaining, he usually gives me points) and NEVER in the same Semi as Grebo.

I'm not sure what Semi it's better for me to be in now (indie or pop) but considering Liam, John (whom I think likes Maria Mena?) and Eyes are all in Semi II it looks like that would've been the better option.

This link is unavailable to me, but you can listen here. > http://www.myspace.com/katydann. Draper Dude, please send me a new link as I can't find one anywhere!

Sorry lew, Im uploading it to youtube now.. should be with you in half an hour :)

That artwork you made looks stunning too! :D:D xx thank you

How do you think I'm feeling right now? :D

I spot 1 potential poster who is likely to enjoy Blaudzun's track. Now, who could that be? :D

SF1 is looking extremely "pop" so I really doubt my entry will do well but I did want to enter it as I've sent so many uptempo tracks so far this year.

Very much so!
