'Read All About It' was written by TMS and Professor Green, though wikipedia also credits Sande as a writer (though I'm not sure this is the case). Given that two 'main' acts wrote the original, I'd assume TMS wrote Part III and then decided to use it as the chorus for the original; with Green writing the rap verses.

I think it's a good bet, but I can't imagine an X Factor winner's single that strays away from the typical verse/chorus/bridge structure, so I'm not sure.

Professor Green wrote the verses, and somebody else probably wrote the chorus (usually the chorus is sampled from another song, but not in this case).

They had a little play around with 'Don't Stop Believin' to put the chorus that is usually only at the end, in a few times. I'm sure they could do it with One Day Like This, but I pray they don't. :(

I'm not surprised. I don't think I've ever seen a Spice Girls song in the top 1000 before. Whilst songs like Read All About It Part III and One Day Like This are nearly always in the top 1000, despite previously having low chart peaks.

Both Wannabe and Spice Up Your Life have been Top 1000 on iTunes at various times this year. I believe Wannabe was high 200s at one point, and Spice Up Your Life managed 300 area.

What was Kate Bush's original peak for 'Running Up That Hill'?

#3.

Come on Muse, unpleasantly surprised they weren't one of the top couple of beneficiaries from the ceremony.

IMO The Spice Girls missed a trick by slotting 'Wanabee' in with 'Spice Up Your Life'. IMO the former should have been performed alone as it's much more iconic and well known. SUYL was too repetitive and was just full of shouting.

Wannabe isn't full of shouting?

I read that Kate Bush turned down an invitation to play the closing ceremony. It would have been so special, as she does't play much at all.

That isn't that much of a surprise is it though. It was amazing that she turned up to the South bank Show awards.

If it wasn't for the Olympics, Cheryl - Under the Sun would be at #14/#15 (depends on where George Michael would have actually ended up)

Aiden Grimshaw would also be at #20/#21, Of Monsters and Men #29/#30, Some Nights #32/#33

With the many, many multiple versions I thought I'd have a crack at posting a combined pop chart...

Of course.

Gosh. That would sound so weird. It's a shame Boom Boom Pow will never be a winners single, I'd like to see what they'd do with that, they can't really do a key change for it either.

23. Cheryl - Under The Sun

30. Ryan O' Shaughnessy - No Name

31. Aiden Grimshaw - Curtain Call

Conor Maynard not even in the top 40 combined, the chart run'll look awful. Currently 04-09-19, may even drop to #51-60 now that it's been reverted to 99p.

Elbow down to #5 :( I thought they would stay ahead of Kate Bush, although I imagine certain radio stations have already started hammering 'Read All About It (Pt. III)' so I can understand that overtaking. The LSO/UVC version of One Day Like This is up to #60 though. 'Open Arms' should finally make the top 100 this week, currently #75 (album version) and #81 (LSO/UVC version).

Porter Robinson back up to #12, really hope this can go top 10 today or at least later in the week when Imagine drops out, not sure it will though...

 16. Wish You Were Here - Ed Sheeran, Richard Jones, Nick Mason, Mike Rutherford & David Arnold

I'd love to see this be another top 20 hit for Ed, will probably miss out like Arctic Monkeys though.

 30. No Name - Ryan O'Shaughnessy

I'm really surprised enough people remember this guy let alone care about him for him to get anywhere near this high!

 31. Screw the Nether (feat. The Yogscast & Sparkles*) - Inthelittlewood

Dare I Google this to find out what it is? I'm not sure I want to know  EDIT: Upon Googling it, it turns out I really didn't want to know. It's a Moves Like Jagger parody. Great.

I'm not too upset for Cheryl because the song has still time to grow and I'm pretty confident it will get close to the top10.

I'm a bit sad for Aiden though. The song is great but I don't think he will recover much even after the Olympics songs drop. It would have probably peaked this week without it.

Cheryl's is an album track so her airplay is still growing, next week I expect it to get close maybe even break the top 10. Looks like the 'release date' has been perfectly timed for when it's likely to be at its peak.

Yes, most people thought the release was too far away (me included), but the promotion would have been lost with all the Olympics coverage. Early September sounds just fine. The only negative point is that we probably won't get a third single now with Girls Aloud most likely to come back in November (unless she releases a third single to radios but without solo promotion).
