September 16, 201212 yr I just find the Ben Howard album so boring. Everytime I try listening to the album I turn it off after about 3 tracks. It's not going to be for everyone but I really do enjoy it, and I think it has the potential to crossover and become a hugely popular album if it won.
September 21, 201212 yr Ben Howards album has been relatively successful thanks to radio 1 but id like to see Alt-J win. Waiting to see Django Django get playlisted on radio 1 if they win!! Plan B would be a decent winner - Ill Manors is an immense album and really does symbolise 2012s political troubles with a right go at Cameron's broken Britain!!
September 23, 201212 yr Least Plan B is an album of serious issues central to current affairs/the times we live in. The one thing about the 2008 period onward is that there was no real songs about the recessionary times we live in like back in the late 70s/80s - punk basically came out of the break down of society in the mid 70s then followed bands like the clash and the specials which symbolised the early 80s...least plan b will be remembered as this generations version of them and he gets away from the usual top 10 songs that are about going out and getting realy drunk on a dancefloor lol. Aloe Blacc also came up with a song like this in 2011 with I need a dollar!! Edited September 23, 201212 yr by steve201
October 5, 201212 yr Listening to his album, I wouldn't be surprised if Richard Hawley got an 'Elbow win'. Probably not his strongest work, but once again incredibly consistent and different enough to previous efforts, would certainly be deserved recognition for what he's done in the past decade rather than this album necessarily....

"Somebody call 999, Richard Hawley's been robbed" :P I think now that it's between Ben Howard and Jessie Ware. Fingers crossed it is Jessie's. :D
October 6, 201212 yr Alt-J is growing on me. The Alt-J album's really clicked with me recently, can't decide if I want them or Django to win it now!
October 10, 201212 yr I still can't believe how bad this list is. Of the three main contenders.. Jessie Ware... really?? - she fooled me with the rather excellent 110% - the rest of the album is a shocker (I think there was one other track I liked) Alt J - it's ok but not great Django Django - too it's ok but it's basically 2012's Friendly Fires. Still can't quite understand the omission of Four Tet, the XX, TEED, Hot Chip, Toy....etc
October 11, 201212 yr It is a poor list but I'd say I've listened to the Maccabees album most out of them all. Shame it doesn't really stand a chance.
October 11, 201212 yr Yeah, I've listened to Field Music the most from the list , I don't think people even know who they are ;-)
October 11, 201212 yr My favourite to win : Michael Kiwanuka – Home Again  I really like those albums : The Maccabees – Given to the Wild Lianne La Havas – Is Your Love Big Enough? Alt-J – An Awesome Wave Jessie Ware – Devotion I know some songs from those albums and I think it's good but not winner worthy : Ben Howard – Every Kingdom Plan B – Ill Manors I haven't even heard of : Django Django – Django Django Field Music – Plumb Richard Hawley – Standing at the Sky's Edge Roller Trio – Roller Trio Sam Lee – Ground of its Own

October 11, 201212 yr I still can't believe how bad this list is. I actually think this is probably the best list they've ever done, in terms of there's absolutely nothing there I wouldn't happily listen to from start to finish, which is stark contrast to last years list. However there are only two I truly love, Ben & Maccabees, Alt-J is very good but it's far from being filler free and Django Django did get tired pretty quickly. I like Hawley but prefer his smoother stuff.
October 29, 201212 yr The winner is announced on Thursday. Channel 4's coverage on the night consists of the announcement and that's it. There's also a haf-hour show on 4Music. That's Channel 4's way of doing things differently  The performances from the night are not shown until 11.35 on Friday night.
