Oh. Yeah. I noticed that too...that she's making it sound like she was the last to be convinced to do the 2007/2008 reunion tour. My memory of all this is she was saying as early as 2004 that the only way she'd return to music would be an opportunity to work with the Spice Girls. I was under the impression Victoria was one of the major driving forces of the 2007 reunion...and it was Mel C who had to be persuaded back. Credit to Victoria...she honestly did do a pretty great job of hyping that reunion at the time...

Victoria was definitely the originally driving force, together with Emma and Geri... There are pictures of the three of them from late 2006/early 2007 where they met up to discuss opportunities.

It was in fact also her with Simon I think who came up with the idea as they wanted to gather more money/profile raising opportunities for her so she could establish her name and brand.

The whole 'I was only in Spice for a bit' shtick that has been doing since launching herself as a fashion designer is embarrassing and outright lying.

'They used to turn my mic off', 'I was never Celine Dion', ' I was only in Spice Girls for 2 years/4 years'... straight up pissed me off...

1994 - 2000 is 6 years + 3years of solo work + two reunions...

She was in the biggest group of the 90s, the biggest girlband in the world, and she always put her participation down when we know she was instrumental everytime... yet everytime she reunited with the girls was to increase her profile or make more money for a bit before heading off again...

I get it, two of the others do the same - Geri and Mel C - but with Victoria its always been a bit stupid as it is obviously lies to protect her fashion brand.

Victoria’s definitely rewriting history to suit her own narrative, probably assuming that 99.9% of viewers of her documentary/interviews won’t know/care about the finer details and just take her word for it. She just isn’t thinking about the 0.1% of the hardcore Spice Girls fans who know she’s not being fully honest lol.

Claiming that the Spice Girls were over before she gave birth to Brooklyn, really? My eyes rolled when she was giving that answer in the podcast. Saying that she had to be persuaded to take part in 2007 and that she was never really into it? As others here have mentioned, it was evident at the time that she was in fact a driving force. The “mic off” anecdote as a form of self deprecation, it’s annoying but I feel like at this point that’s a crutch for her to be endearing to the public who would 100% believe that to be true because they don’t view her as a singer. So she leans into that for her own benefit… when she must know that isn’t even true.

Also when it comes to her solo music career, meh, I guess I can understand why she glosses over it because it serves her better to dismiss it as being inconsequential in the grand scheme of things. We know the reality of it though, she spent approaching 5 years of her life on solo music, and I don’t believe she’d have put herself through it without determination and passion at the time. Particularly as after the debut album, she put herself through it all over again with a new label, when, honestly, she was in a position that she really didn’t have to. Which makes me believe she did want to be a solo artist back then.

I understand what she’s doing when she downplays everything to do with music, I think it completely stems from insecurity, and it’s a shame… but it is what it is. It would be wonderful if she felt more proud of her past and just owned it, without feeling the need to bend the truth to suit a narrative.

^ I agree. Though. It's so curious to me that Victoria would willingly float the idea of a Spice Girls show at the Sphere. It's like...Victoria, you have spent ages talking about how you have no passion for music and let everyone else do all the singing...and yet...here you are hyping this idea.

Granted, that could be as simple as taking a page from Mel B and Mel C...nothing brings more attention to a solo project interview like talking about a Spice Girls reunion that's not actually going to happen.

and that is precisely why she said it...

they ALL do it to varying degrees. They talk about a potential reunion or stories related to the SPice Girls because it is what the press and the social media apps will boost/highlight, in the hope that it brings also awareness to their solo project.

Mel C recently said on a red carpet that Victoria is 'itching' to get back on stage and looked smartly at the camera. This is so clearly a line to get that clip to go viral AGAIN... urgh...

Victoria's documentary, for all its' attempt to establish her as a serious fashion designer, saw the promotion of it very much centered around her being a Spice Girl. She herself also did that too with that interview...

I think she would genuinely love to come back. She’s smart, and she knows people would go crazy for her if she returned to performing. The only thing holding her back is knowing all the criticism and pressure from the media would bring up a lot of her past trauma. I really hope that one day she gives us at least one last show or performance

I wish I could buy it again on iTunes!!!

It's #14 now!!

Thank you for shining a spotlight on Viva Forever, Victoria... it's clear that a lot of people have either been reminded of it, or maybe even hearing it for the first time?

Stop next, please! Or better yet acoustic version of Headlines so it can go top 10 finally?

I wonder if the streams also jumped more than usual?

Gosh, Viva Forever deserves the world... it should be constantly on the charts

Her and Cruz should well release a version of it while it’s doing the rounds, could be their Kelly & Ozzy moment 😭
