Not really surprised Amelia is doing well the song has been played to death on Capital and I think its been played on Radio 1 as well If only Misha had been supported by Capital Home Run would and should have done so much better :(

1. Misha was B-Listed on Radio 1 and IIRC was supported by Capital. Amelia was snubbed by Radio 1.

2. Misha had a price reduction while Amelia hasn't.

3. Amelia is therefore seen as a far more likeable person than Misha.

Learnt a few things about her and she really isn't

Well Tbh it is better to get played more on Capital than Radio 1 these days Capital play songs to death and more younger people listen to that station so I think Amelia had more of an advantage in that sense I know people that only heard of Misha B Home Run a few weeks ago and they listen to Capital a lot .

I don't think it's got anything to do with being likeable, it's about having a better song imo, You Bring Me Joy is easily better then Home Run, I was a fan of both girls on the X Factor, even though Misha's was 59p I couldn't buy it because I didn't like it unlike Amelia's what is at full price, Strong radio support does help but at the end of the day, people got to like the song to download and support.

I wouldn't call getting a debut top 10 single (or in Misha's case a #11 single) "completely bombing"...

Have either even passed Wings' first week sales though? not saying Amelia will either, but it should at least get a more respectable peak

Basing public opinion on what your friends/people you know do is not a good way to go if you want to prove a point.

Elaborate please?

Basing public opinion on what your friends/people you know do is not a good way to go if you want to prove a point.

Not even just people I know people on forums had not heard of it either or not heard it that much on radio.

Am hoping She Wolf (Falling to Pieces) can get to #1 is it out tomorrow? love that song!

Anyway back on topic!

12. Cheryl - Under The Sun (I don't see why this is not listed in the 59p section, it could help push it top 10)

20. Tulisa - Live It Up (Ouch)

33. The Killers - Runaway (Please climb faster)

Sorry, but he's right. Capital have hardly played Home Run. Infact, I wouldn't be surprised if they never played it at all (outside of the Big Top 40 Show).

It helps that it was 59p, but Capital snubbed Home Run. Capital is one of the biggest airplay stations and You Bring Me Joy has had much more airplay rotation.

End of June - top 10 radio channels:

1. BBC Radio 2 (14.5m)

2. BBC Radio 1 (11.3m)

3. BBC Radio 4 (10.5m)

4. Heart (7.4m)

5. Capital (7.0m)

6. BBC Radio 5 live (6.4m)

7. Classic FM (5.5m)

8. Kiss (4.4m)

9. Magic (3.7m)

10. Smooth Radio (3.3m)

Capital Radio may get high airplay but radio 1 has more listeners

But it will be at a distinct disadvantage - missing out on the biggest sales day of the week...

Its never worth trying to gauge an XF stars longeivity by the first single. Remember Diana Vickers? No, no does anybody else yet she started so well
the difference with the vickers was that she made herself a stage star before launching her solo material

Yes, I'm aware of that. That's how it got top 20 in the charts.

Capital is a BIG deal though. It got Twilight to #1 basically all by itself (although Heart FM and Radio 1 did start playing it after it was released too).

But also, Radio 1 was probably the only station that was playing the Calvin Harris remix of Spectrum pre-release (Capital plays it all the time now, but they didn't touch it before its release).

What's the point in posting that when Radio 2 is the most-listened station. That station has hardly any effect on the singles chart, it has more effect on the albums chart.

Same with Smooth Radio, it plays adult contemporary music, and most of the songs they play probably never touch the chart (or are from decades ago ), even though it gets almost half the audience of Capital, which regularly gets songs into the top 10.

Radio 2 listeners are a different demographic, however radio 1 listeners will also be downloaders.....
