I agree. All mental health forums say the same thing. You see someone who may be a nurse or Dr., most likely just a nurse, who knows nothing specifically about your illness, whether it's depression or a bad back or whatever.

My assessment will be coming up any day now, well before April 2014, and I'm very worried about it. Ironically it's making me more depressed and the Government want me to get better surely with a view to returning to work!! So it's counter productive. I'm going to give them the run around and delay it though by asking for it to be recorded, which is my legal right. They hate this request as they say there are only a few recording machines in each area and half of them are broken. So they don't publicise or say in any letter that you can have it recorded. Lies have been told and the report of the meeting has been nothing like the claimant remembers it. The person has deliberately made up lies.

How ironic that the whistleblower is a lazy workshy shit.

Eh? She was a nurse doing the Atos interviews until guilt over what she'd been told to do made her depressed. How then is she workshy?

EDITED. DOUBLE POST. Sorry.

Why do you hate disabled people?

Why do you hate disabled people?

Most here seem to do, for no particular reason. Is it an example of what society as a whole is like? I hope not. :(

There is no respect any more, not even for their elders.

I wish you luck with your ATOS assessment. I had mine in March and I managed to pass by letting them fully know about my condition.

Good. You were one of the lucky ones then. Mind you someone on another forum with panic attacks said he got straight through without even having the Atos meeting. The DWP put him on full support without needing to seek work just from his form. I must get a letter from my GP too and with any luck, with my depression being so debilitating, they may do the same with me. :)

I got 18 points I think because I get back pain as well as my panic attacks and agoraphobia.

Yep you need 15 but Atos have told their assessors to try to keep it below that. :o They get in trouble if they say too many aren't capable for work which is just ludicrous.

I also noticed that every atos doctor I have ever seen, and even all the ones that were calling out other people, were all asian and barely spoke english. They have come to this country, learned medicine and then use it to throw british citizens off benefits.

What makes you think that?

Well whenever there's been a benefit thread in the past there's been a lot of antagonism towards benefit claimants. There's always people making snide remarks about me too, in threads totally unconnected to benefits/illness.

That is sick. No different to racism IMO.

You appear to be mixing up the disabled and benefit claimants in general with yourself.

Is there a difference? I am no different to any other genuine Incapacity Benefit claimant.

Erm...

I don't entirely understand what Incapacity Benefit means. I do know a few people who are on it however - and they have no problem going to the pub (in fact - one I know actually goes night-clubbing), going shopping, etc. In fact the only incapacity they seem to have is the capacity to find a job (or to find the willing to find a job).

And before anyone says it - I have nothing against genuine disability. The fact is - a lot of people on this 'incapacity benefit' are taking money away from genuine disability sufferers who feel too intimidated or are too proud to try to claim.
