Added to the Radio 2 playlist this week which is better than nothing! Radio 1 never used to support them in the final couple of years of their career peak anyway and certainly weren't about to start now.
All radio play will help, it wont do harm, if anything it will make more people aware they are back and they might just buy the album.
Imagine FM is hammering this at the moment.
Airplay has started really late for this - Shame that it won't have any impact on the single but as mentioned it will make awareness that they are back and Radio 2 listeners are usually album buyers!
They are performing 'Light Up The World' on This Morning tomorrow - It's a shame they didn't do some promo when the song was Top 40 on iTunes!
It might help them stay top 100, but it will get them a few little extra sales.
Loved the performance on This Morning - Just really wished they had managed to get on the show last week, It would have had an impact on the song then!
Really good performance save for the dance routine, which looked like broken sign language. The vocals and harmonies were spot on!
Just got round to watching that performance, very competent. Why oh why couldn't Claire's money note been recorded like that on the studio version though? I absolutely hate the way she gets faded out :(
Its a shame that the performance didnt give them a chart boost. Im looking forward to the album and cant wait to get it, wouldnt mind the dvd either.
Listening to the album clips now, it's so far from what I expected. It's all very lovely and xmassy but it's not the same Steps that we used to know. It's basically H, Claire, Lisa, Faye and Lee doing a lounge/jazz album. All surprisingly classy and well produced but not going to appeal to many old skool Steps fans I wouldn't have thought.
^^I fear for it's chart performance - I think Top 20 is the best we can hope for which I think will put them off going ahead with a proper new album, Also the tour has sold poorly really thought that after the #1 album and sell out comeback tour that they was going to be able to continue that success but it really seems that the interest in them was short lived and not having major record support has really harmed them too.
It was definitely just a nostalgia fuelled comeback, but Take That and to a lesser extent Boyzone are really the only acts who managed a sustained level of success with new material post reunion buzz. Nobody wanted a classy wintery Steps album in 2012, and with barely any promotion and no buzz it's sadly almost certain to fail :( I'd love to just see them give it one more proper push with a new pop album next year before disappearing again.
When She Loved Me is a masterpiece, what a shame that criminally underrated Sarah McLachlan's version never got a proper single release, it's the easy standout of this album for me, along with Light Up The World which sticks out like a sore thumb as a 'Steps song' whilst the rest sounds nothing like old skool Steps.

*sigh*

Right, what's going on here, am I going to have to actually PURCHASE this abomination?
