Anyone who bought Psy should be put down.

Not because he's beating One Direction, I couldn't care less.

Just because it's ridiculous and not a proper song.

It's not a proper song because it's not in English?

How is it not a proper song? It has music and lyrics. It has a typical verse-chorus-verse-chorus-middle 8-chorus structure that MANY other 'proper' songs use.

Just because its Korean and a bit 'out there' doesn't mean it's not a proper song.

Overall One Direction will stay ahead of Ellie Goulding in the offical chart as they have been ahead all week, while she may overtake them today or tomorrow on itunes One Direction have the advantage as they are selling well on phyisicals. This weeks top 4 singles should all achieve great sales which is always lovely to see. Im happy that Muse may break the Top 20, while they have never really been a singles act its nice to see them build up some chart history for themselves in the singles chart, that said, there album track record in general is pretty decent.

Good to see one his songs finally taking off a bit... saying that Lightning Bolt has been in the top 200/ top 100 on itunes for ages now

Properly LOVE this now for some reason. Could end up overtaking 'Moment 4 Life' as my favourite Nicki song. :o

Take that back!!!

No but seriously Moment For Life will always be my favourite, unless we're counting features in which case Monster shits on everything else.

On the latest album its probably Roman Holiday :coffee:

'Two Fingers' to be his 'Only Love' then. Wouldn't be surprised to see his album get a top 5 or even a top 3 debut, Leona is the only other release of note that week and Ellie is the only major release the previous week. Could see it being 1 Mumford 2 Ellie 3/4 Leona/Jake.

 89. Cherry Wine (feat. Amy Winehouse) - Nas

Haven't heard this but I do love 'Like Smoke' so another Nas/Amy collab should be good as well. Would be great to see Nas back in the top 40.

Ellie Goulding 'Lights' went something tragic like 01-16 in its second week in the album chart, so there's no guarantee that Ellie's second week sales will be enough to keep her in the top 5. I doubt her album will go no. 1 (gut instinct) so expect another sharp drop in week 2.

Ellie's drop was more due to either Mother's or Father's Day (can never remember which) pushing a ton ahead of her rather than her sales dropping dramatically, she actually had a pretty standard 2nd week % drop. I'm not sure she'll get #1 either but literally the only new releases in these 3 weeks that will do anything are Muse, Ellie, Leona and Jake. Ellie should definitely get at least a second week top 5, I doubt she'd drop behind Muse or any albums already released (except Mumford & Sons if she even beats them in her first week).

I don't see the problem with PSY either. It's definitely one of those singles - like Whigfield, Macarena, Eiffel 65, Lou Bega and Las Ketchup before it - where it captures the public's imagination and sometimes it's good to have that little quirk in amongst the more 'serious' releases as it were. A classic in years from now, maybe not, but there's always room for a bit of kitsch in our lives ;)
Could someone tell me about EP. Did they add EP's sale to single, or they will do it after end of the week?

I heard it for the first time this morning on Radio 1, it sounds like a grower but at the moment it's a little boring. My brother was like "why is Amy Winehouse in a song called Life Is Good?" I told him that wasn't the name of the song, it's Nas promoting his floppy album ;)

Some good positions to see:

12 Otto Knows - Million Voices

13 Nicki Minaj - Va Va Voom

22 Kanye West - Clique

75 Alt-J - Something Good (haven't taken notice of this band before but this song is something good[/badpun])

79 Madeon - Finale (why is this back?)

Indeed, cant wait for the album - im still really annoyed radio 1 didnt move this up to the alist yesterday - coulda went top 20 with the added plays in the next 3 weeks. Now it will most likely fall due to the weekend effect and maybe this time next week peak on itunes again at no30 or so?!

It's a novelty record.

That doesn't mean it's not a song. Why can't a song be humorous?

Don't you know real music is never humorous or even upbeat or interesting? That's why I only listen to real musicians like Matt Cardle.
