Yes but last year the theme weeks were HORRENDOUS. I can't think of a single track from dance anthem week that was actually a dance anthem. No one did a rock song in a rock style for rock week (they tailored the rock songs to themselves and Tulisa's acts did anything to guitar sounds). Lady Gaga/Queen week was a bit silly too. And there hasn't even been a big band week for at least two series and that's one that'd really challenge them.

Hmm yeah I'll give you that!

I love the theme weeks but it really irritates me when when 'switch it up' so that the song fits them but not the theme, or so that their song sounds like the theme but is not actually that genre. Case in point as you said Little Mix last year with Push It/Tik Tok on Rock Week  And there was a girl on Australian X-Factor (AMAZING but a Diana Vickers soundalike so as you can imagine isn't the best fit for a party song) on party week who did What Makes You Beautiful stripped back to a piano arrangement - while the song itself could be played at a party, the piano arrangement could not to be honest

Big Band week was always DIRE. Good riddance to that!

It was my favourite week in the original Pop Idol. Zoe Birkett SMASHED it. Will Young and Darius did well too.

But seriously 'heroes'? What is it even referring to? Do we still have to pretend that we still have themes?

Agreed. Themes are good and show versatility and all that but we're looking for a POPSTAR. Big Band Week is not going to help in looking for a popstar, is it?

I never liked Big Band week. I never knew any of the songs and after a few series, it was always the same old songs! Much prefer the looser themes which allow them to stick to their genre while still showing a bit of variety!

I'd still like every week to be 21st Century hits though, its much better when I know the songs!

Prepare yourselves for a lot of ad breaks, the show starts at 8 till 10:20, just for 12 or 13 acts to sing.

I guess it be sing, ad, sing, ad, sing, ad etc etc  why string a show so long when they only belt out 2 mins 30 secs of a track.

As a sidenote the theme is awful.

Because it's ITV, and ITV only care about the revenue they get from advertising. Why else would ITV go to a commercial break DURING a live football match, only to quickly cut short an advert because someone has just scored a goal and anyone watching on ITV1 HD missed it altogether (co-incidentally I watched the England match on Freeview and the live coverage wasn't disrupted ^_^ )

That's why!!! :D

How much more limiting do you want it to get? 13 years of music?

Loose themes are rubbish. It's the same old songs all the time anyway. I'm just going to sit and wait for Purple Rain and I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing.

I'm guessing the song choices will be put online at about 7pm? Not long now anyway! :D
It's usually no later than half hour before the show or so, so yeah we should see in the next half an hour!

Neither of which are from the 21st century! :kink:

True, but my second point was supposed to be separate from the first-the first being surprised anyone only wants songs from 21st century, the second being addressed to whoever complained that Big Band week always feature the same songs-to which I pointed out some songs are shoe-horned into these loose themes every year.

Looks like we won't be getting a songlist before the show starts! It's annoying as I always end up trying to think what the song is rather than actually watching the performance!
Given the quality (lack thereof) this year, it might be better to focus on the song than the perf.
District 3 then. Good.
Dear lord I forgot that happens. I hope not too many buzzjackers creamed themselves over use of gangnam style.
I want Christopher voted off tomorrow night. That was ridiculously cringy. The others would almost certainly have handled it with more dignity.
It was the right choice for me. Good for Christopher.
