Not that it makes any difference but i am disappointed Adele isnt number 1.

Adele deserves to score that first number 1 James Bond song... That song is amazing !!! It's actually weird that Adele is reaching number 1 everywhere with Sky Fall except in her home country....

Tame Impala #11 in the midweeks

Had Adele even released on wednesday of last week she would have been number 1 last sunday, just having 2 days of sales, split the sales with this and last week which will have cost her the number 1.

It not being a very good record cost her the #1.

Even if she'd released on Thursday...

She failed to the learn the hard lesson from Lady Gaga - BTW... :(

I mean, I'm sure "Skyfall" will hit #1 later this week.

Itll consistenly sell for the next 4 weeks and keep getting pushed off no1 by new releases, this week SHM, next week Calvin and florence. Maybe the week ending 28/10 it could be no1?

The physicals will push the single which is out on the 29th Oct, its out on 7" vinyl and CD format, if it doesn't by than, it won't happen, unless it happens before the physicals are released.

I'm not so sure about Calvin Harris yet, got a funny feeling he peak at #2

What utter rubbish.

She released on the Friday as this marked the 50 years since Dr No was released. The chart placing in that context is irrelevant, the 50 year date being adhered to was the key thing given the significance of the franchise.

Nice to see Leona at 6 yesterday when she was 7 on itunes. She's been #5 on itunes today and yesterday so hopefully today's midweek will reflect that.

6 and 7 on itunes, Ellie and 1D aren't gaining on her either (kworb) so hopefully she can hold steady and secure top 5 for Sunday.

Still hoping she gets her 3rd #1 album next week though.

Apparently Ellie has somehow passed Mumfords and is 2.5k ahead? Sounds altogether too good to be true but :cheer: nonetheless.

EDIT: Leona #5, 1000 copies ahead of Ellie (#6).

Thanks UMI. Going to be so close for Leona to stay #5 then :o However really impressed that she passed Ellie from yesterdays update. Alan Carr Friday night so would love that to be able to keep it #5. :D

A Moment Like This #1

Bleeding Love #1

Better in Time #2

Forgive Me #5

Run #1

Happy #2

Collide #4

Hurt #8

Trouble #?

Her 9th top 10 hit :dancing:

Midweek Charts: Swedes to deny Bond girl Adele

Source: MW

by Paul Williams

Swedish House Mafia's farewell single looks set to deny Adele's James Bond theme climbing to No 1 on the UK singles chart.

Adele's XL single debuted at No 4 last Sunday on just two days' sales and has got off to a strong start in this new chart week, having sold more than 50,000 copies by the end of business on Tuesday, according to the Official Charts Company. However, that is only good enough to move it up to 2 with Swedish House Mafia's brand new Virgin track Don't You Worry Child featuring John Martin currently more than 20,000 sales ahead.

The Swedes, who announced in June they would be taking a hiatus after their tour, have previously hit a high of 4 on the UK singles chart, firstly with Miama 2 Ibiza with Tinie Tempah in 2010 and then with Antidote with Knife Party the following year.

The top end of the artist albums chart is much closer at this stage with little more than 2,000 sales separating Ellie Goulding in first place and Mumford & Sons in runners-up spot. Goudling's appearance at 1 in the latest midweeks with her newly-issued second Polydor set Halcyon follows a performance on Jonathan Ross's ITV1 show last Saturday, while Mumford's Gentlemen Of The Road/Island set Babel holds its position of 2 achieved on last Sunday's chart. Muse's Helium 3/Warner Bros album The 2nd Law drops 1-3.

Following a night dedicated to Jeff Lynne/ELO on BBC Four last Friday, three related albums are currently among the Top 10 sellers. They are led by the Frontiers label release Long Wave, a newly-issued solo album of covers by Jeff Lynne, which is new at 5 on Sales Flashes. Another new Frontiers album, Mr Blue Sky - The Very Best Of, which goes under the ELO name and includes new versions by Lynne of some of the band's tracks, arrives at 9, while the RCA-handled All Around The World - The Very Best Of holds its position of 10 achieved last Sunday. This album contains original versions of the band's hits.

In a strong week for guitar and rock music, Australian act Tame Impala are new at 11 with the Modular album Lonerism, while veteran US rock band Kiss's UMC/Universal set Monster, their first album in three years, is new at 12 at this stage of the week.

Completing the Top 10 at this point of the week are RCA act Pink's The Truth About Love falling 3-6, Emeli Sande's Virgin debut Our Version Of Events dropping 5-7 and The Killers' Vertigo/Mercury set Battle Born slipping 4-8.

Mika's third Island album The Origin Of Love is new at 15 on the current midweeks and Barbra Streisand's Columbia-issued Release Me is at 18. Other new albums set to debut in or around the Top 40 this coming Sunday include new albums from V2's Coheed & Cambria, Atlantic's Dog Is Dead, Lemar via the AMP label and Provogue's Beth Hart.

Back on the singles chart and below Swedish House Mafia and Adele is Rihanna whose Def Jam/Mercury title Diamonds slips to 3 having debuted at 1 last weekend. Island act PSY's Gangnam Style drops 2-4 and Leona Lewis is heading for her eighth UK Top 10 single with the Syco-issued Trouble with Childish Gambino new at 5. Ellie Goulding's Anything Could Happen drops 5-6 and Syco act One Direction's Live While We're Young 3-7, while The Script's Epic/Phonogenic track Hall Of Fame featuring will.i.am. drops 6-8. Following an appearance on Jonathan Ross last weekend, Mercury's Taylor Swift progresses 10-9 with We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together, while Atlantic's Flo Rida slips 7-10 with I Cry.

Among the singles market's big sales gainers is A&M/Octone/Polydor act Maroon 5's One More Night, which currently leads the Billboard Hot 100. Its UK sales this week are up 222% and as a consequence it climbs 64-26 in the midweeks. Meanwhile, Faith Hill 2001 Warner Bros single There You'll Be is back in at 36 ater being performed on The X Factor last Saturday by contestant Carolynne Poole.

+ Stop Crying Your Heart Out (cover) was a top 40 hit but not actually a single. :D

It should have been though! :( I even prefer it to the original by Oasis. I thought it was going to be released as a single after she performed it on the X Factor Final in 2009.

Every-bodies cover was better than the original, didn't Rowetta do one ?

Grrr, why did "Global James Bond Day" have to fall on a Friday. It's cost Adele a guaranteed No.1!!!

Note to the people who decide to release tracks on a Friday...It doesn't work!! (Putting aside charity tracks!!!).
