Limited midweeks info, from twitter (from Mark Fabish who works at Sony Records)

1. Swedish House Mafia (close to 40k)

2. Adele (10k behind SHM)

5. One Direction 8.5k

6. Leona Lewis

Wonder if Leona can actually go top 10/20. I was so sure she'd flop with this.

You were saying ?

1D only on 8k at this stage - whats that barely 30k for week 2 then?

Well, Leona is currently ahead of 1D on itunes, so I suspect she might be #5 in tomorrow's midweeks. I'm really hoping Leona can hold on until Friday, then get a good boost from Alan Carr. Would great to see her get another top 5 hit!
Probably Walk The Moon.

Shame though. :(

No chance, it'll be Mumford & Sons or POSSIBLY Muse. (If Ellie even is #2 that is, there doesn't seem to be a source given for her position yet :P)

30k for Adele at this stage probably means it's set for a fairly modest increase - any increase would be decent really, the initial massive sales were bound to wear off extremely quickly. SHM should pass 100k at least, I based my prediction from yesterday of close to 150k on the assumption Adele would be a bit higher than she is.

Leona will definitely be challenging for top 5, really hope she can do it but expecting more like #7-9.

Yeah, I thought it would be likely for a sales increase. So it's total will be somewhere between 170k and 180k. Hope to see it pass 500k before year end, although it seems it will have quite high sales for the rest of October, so I think it should do it with ease.

Someone on another forum has a midweeks connection from what I can tell. They claim Mumford & Sons are 1.2k ahead of Ellie right now.

If that is the case, Ellie should be able to overtake if she has promo throughout the week.

She'll be frontloaded though, I'll be impressed if she manages to stay with 10k.

Yes, realistically if a new album is behind at the beginning of the week, the chances of overtaking are almost non-existant. If her Monday sales (which include her pre-orders) were less than M&S' then there's really no chance she'll outsell them during the rest of the week. Hopefully she can hang on to #2.
Imagine if Adele won't get a No.1 with Skyfall after all :o

I wouldn't say it's that big a deal to be honest. I mean, she's only had 1 number one out of 12 chart hits (compared to say 14 for Westlife, or 7 for Rihanna), but that hasn't stopped her from becoming undoubtedly a far bigger deal than either of those two acts.

Yeah. Plus, it's 2012, most people have no idea what's getting to #1 these days. It's not like in the past when everybody would know what the current #1 was (I guess down to lack of Top of the Pops, etc. maybe?).

If you ask the average person on the street, they'll probably think that Adele has 4 or 5 #1s. So it wouldn't be a massive deal.

Exactly this. As I mentioned on another forum 95% who don't follow the charts would probably guess "Set fire to the rain" was a number one, when it didn't even reach top 10.

Not that it makes any difference but i am disappointed Adele isnt number 1.
