I have a soft spot for One Direction, but this is f***ing terrible. I hate Ed Sheeran.

Exactly this. Horrendous.

I just want another 'Live While We're Young' to be honest.

Dear me...I will echo with all the 'boring' comments above. It's not even like a 'Moments' type ballad from their first album which at least had a bit of dramatics and power to it with the chorus. It'll be top 5 at least but I don't see this going the distance either.

I actually like it, a fair bit! Strange considering I despise Ed Sheeran... It's just a very nice, simple acoustic song! I can see what people mean though when they say it should just be an album track as opposed to a single (never mind to lead in the album with!!)

Nice song though.

I was surprised that it sounds quite mature and well written for a One Direction single, and for a ballad release it could be worse (i.e. the recurring nightmares of 'Gotta Be You').

The only thing that really lets it down is the piss weak chorus. Oops.

I'm the same! I went into this expecting a car crash but it's really rather lovely if not something I'm going to go back to a lot. I can actually see it doing semi-decently though, it's not like Ed's singles have struggled.

The lyrics in the second verse are really weird. What was Ed thinking when he thought they would be good

And Louis clearly can't sing.

Ed was probably thinking "I'm only 16yrs old and I'm writing this awesome song with great lyrics."

I love it

Does Liam ever sing?

Yes, Liam starts most of the songs and he sings the second part of verse 1, after Niall and before Zayn. From what I can make out.

I'm just wondering why Ed thought that a song he wrote when he was basically a kid, would actually be ok for 1D to sing now?

Maybe their younger audience will embrace a song written from a kid's perspective?

Music video coming Friday

It's really grown on me now but I'm just annoyed at how suddenly it ends. Niall's verse is my favourite once again, he's quickly become my favourite.

I think it's very simply split into verses

Verse 1 - Zayn (first four lines)

Verse 2 - Liam

Chorus - Harry (with Liam/Niall on harmony)

Verse 3 - Louis

Verse 4 - Harry

Chorus - Harry

Middle 8 - Niall

Chorus - Harry

Chorus repeat - All

I actually really like it! I'm a big Ed Sheeran fan though so perhaps not a surprise. It's different for them which is nice. I agree it's risky but I think they mostly all sound great (Louis still sounds basic and grates in harmony too) but the others are brilliant, Niall's middle 8 is so simple but actually quite beautiful and he uses his voice in ways we might not have heard before for a couple of the notes..

In the first chorus it's definitely Zayn singing it, but apart from that I think you've got it covered really.

This is really lovely, I'm not an Ed Sheeran fan in the slightest even though I can appreciate his writing abilities.

Hope it does well.
