I've been dead since watching the trailer.

I hope I'm not being optimistic because we really don't know very much at his point, but I really feel as if this will be better than episodes 1 - 3. The trailer has brought on loads of nostalgia to my childhood years from when the 20th anniversary of the first trilogy was re-released and I saw them all for the first time.

I hope Walker's crisps to Tazos again.

I have the entire set.

And #justicefortheprequels please. They're not amazing but they're also not THAT bad. This will be better though although I worry slightly it could just end up being a huge pander to fanboys.

I really enjoyed Attack of the Clones especially. There was something not quite right altogether though.

People hate that one but I feel 13 again every time I watch it and that's certainly not a bad thing.

A certain FISHY ADMIRAL is returning, at least we know they'll be prepared if they ever run into a trap.

(plus that little laughy guy who was with Lando in Jedi is back too)

Nien Numb?

I think that was it, I had no idea he HAD A NAME. I'm a Trekkie, don't got time for whatever a Star Wars loon is.

Can't believe no-one has mentioned yet about the biggest movie announcement of the past month or so...

HAN SOLO IS GETTING HIS OWN SOLO FILM

Meh

Han is the kind of character that is perfect in an ensemble, but on his own I struggle to see it working quite so well. Presumably a 'young' Han story too?

I can't see this having the legs to beat Avatar or maybe even Titanic - they were both massive long runners, I don't think something so frontloaded could pass $2bn for a few years. Should get close though, and end up comfortably #3.

Also, the Han spin-off is being directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller of Lego Movie and 21/22 Jump Street fame. YAY.

I see what you did there.

This makes me a very happy camper. Not as excited as I am for Episode VII, but watching Han and Chewie flying around the galaxy stealing stuff and getting into all sorts of hi-jinks would be an excellent popcorn flick at worst.

According to my aggressive Googling, that may be exactly what this is. It's an origin story, as it turns out. If handled well, it could be very exciting.

Stop it. Right now. You're going to give me a heart attack from sheer fanboy giddiness.

Also, Episode VII is coming out the day before my birthday. HOLLYWOOD STOP SPOILING ME.

Behind-the-scenes footage was shown at Comic-Con last night.

AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH

Oh. I guess that means Channing Tatum as Han Solo with lots of hilarious hi-jinks... :o

JJ Abrams can do no wrong. I have very high expectations for Star Wars...

Everything just feels so right. It's basically the most anticipated film in history and it actually feels like they might even exceed our ridiculous expectations. <3
Well, we don't all have ridiculous expectations. After being BURNT with 2/3 of the prequel trilogy and disliking about 80% of JJ's movies I'm going in expecting AVERAGE despite my heart hoping for it to be incredible.

I think it will be incredible. Like Jark says, everything looks so right. Plus Kathleen Kennedy rarely ever produces bad films. 95% of the films she's worked on are either amazing, culturally significant, or well remembered. Insane how many good films she's been involved with.

Agreed.

It'll be great. Not as great as the original trilogy (even Jedi is great). Better than the prequels though.

Given that Abrams clearly thought he was making Star Wars when he did Star Trek it'll be pretty similar to that but slightly better. Not because Trek is a worse set up but because he's right for a space fantasy action movie and the (usually) more thoughtful Star Trek doesn't suit him.
