December 28, 20159 yr Also this has pulled in $1 billion quicker than any movie ever. Is it safe to say it's the biggest franchise / phenomena / movie moment of our lifetimes?
December 28, 20159 yr If it has the same multiplier as Avatar and the likes, it could end up about $900 million in the US ALONE. Given it'll almost be at $600M today and next weekend is predicted to be about $75M it could be pretty close to Avatar's total in just over 2 weeks. INSANE. I can't believe I ever doubted it.
December 28, 20159 yr I hope it overtakes Avatar. Avatar was such a forgettable film for me, this is so much better/more memorable/ thrilling.
December 28, 20159 yr Worldwide I'm still not 100% it will, but it seems a certainty in the US. I'd guess maybe $2.4B all said and done?
December 28, 20159 yr Yeah this is just doing crazy box office numbers! Only -38% drop and over 150M 2nd weekend in America, already done £66M in the UK. Just crazy!
December 28, 20159 yr I've just seen a meme being posted on my Facebook which gave away a huge spoiler. Underneath it, it said "share this if you're a c**t". I fail to see how this is even remotely funny. A huge part of the film has been spoiled for me now. f***er. :/

I fail to see how this is even remotely funny. A huge part of the film has been spoiled for me now. f***er. :/Yeah! They've been going around since the public saw it (I'm surprised it's taken you so long to see it), but me and my mate were talking about this the other day and we really don't understand how people can do something like this "just for lolz" or whatever reason? It's not just because it was a Star Wars spoiler, spoilers in general are a piss-take and I really don't get why people would want to purposefully ruin it for others just for the sake of being a complete and utter knob. I'm sorry you had to find out in such a shit way! :(

I fail to see how this is even remotely funny. A huge part of the film has been spoiled for me now. f***er. :/ I avoided spoilers like the plague by just not touching Facebook/Twitter/Reddit and it managed to work. The worst spoiler I got was Ren takes off his mask so I was really lucky that everything was such a surprise. Sorry that it was spoiled for you Bal but it'll still be so enjoyable and there are plenty other twists and turns. Sad to see only me mentioning the fabulousness of Maz Kanata!
December 28, 20159 yr I haven't seen anything like that. I guess I'm just not friends with any c**ts. I'm guessing it was the spoiler that han dies - don't check just in case Bal. but someone else can confirm.
December 28, 20159 yr Author This is why you need to see big films the release weekend. So easy for stuff to be spoiled these days unless you go on an internet ban.
December 28, 20159 yr My condolences Bal :( Hope you can still enjoy it anyway. Phenomenal numbers, so brilliant to see a good film getting it as well. (on the other note: whenever I watch V, it gets to the point where Vader appears in the dining hall and I wonder where the rest of the movie went, Hoth is good but it's over quickly and the rest is mostly Dagobah swamps which aren't the most thrilling, I guess I've come to accept I'm just weird)
December 28, 20159 yr Yeah the big spoiler was spoiled for me as well before I went, was on a random Facebook page scrolling through some funny pictures and one of the random comments on there said that "such and such". Was mortified.
December 28, 20159 yr Bal :( Spoilers are so annoying! I was on Dubtrack I think about a week ago, before I saw the movie, and this random user came on and spoiled Han was killed by his son Kylo Ren which was so annoying :(
December 29, 20159 yr This Episode 2 hate  Ok it's not amazing but it was a right thrilling JOURNEY to a 13 year old in 2002.
December 29, 20159 yr Episode 2 was the worst easily, that love story was absolutely painful, as was Hayden Christensen's and Natalie Portman's 'acting', and a weak villain by their standards with Count Dooku too. The Geonosis clone fight was the only positive I'd take away from that. Episode I wasn't great, but it was pretty and Darth Maul and Qui-Gon are worth a few points. 06 Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace 04 Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones 08 Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith 09 Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope 10 Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back 10 Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi I love Return..., associate some nostalgia with it but it's always such fun and a nice alternative to Empire. Sith was pretty good at the time as it was the first I saw in the cinema, but is flawed in comparison to the original trilogy. Seeing VII tomorrow and have avoided spoilers, woop ^_^ Edited December 29, 20159 yr by Chez Wombat
December 29, 20159 yr I've only really seen each Star Wars film once but even then I wasn't paying the closest attention to each one. I'm very aware though of all the characters, settings and overarching plots though and I was still excited to see this one. I very much enjoyed what I saw, excellent pacing, characters and great to look at. In fact, it was probably one of the best paced films of the year, something that's probably really important for me as my attention span can't be too great. However, I did find the plot was quite... simple. This is by no means a bad point from my perspective as I often can't keep up with similar films to this but I'm quite surprised by the glowing reviews in this respect. You could see the twists and turns coming really and the whole plot was very linear and straightforward. Although maybe that IS why everyone's praising it, because it's following the more simpler storylines of the originals rather than the prequels which I didn't really follow properly. :P I really liked the new characters though. I felt there were a couple of dodgy moments in Daisy's acting but that's to be expected with this being her first major role. She reminded me of Keira Knightly a lot and I expect both her and John will have big careers. BB-8 was of course fantastic and is obviously the highlight of the whole thing, I hope we see more. Snoke was great too as was Kylo Ren although only with the mask. Oh and I hope we see more of Maz too! Pretty funny that Gwendoline only had like 10 lines maximum in the whole thing yet did a lot of promotion for the film although I know its been said that she'll be having a bigger role next time. Also, all those theories surrounding Luke Skywalker and all the promo that Mark had to do and it turns out he's not even really in the film! Can C3-PO go away please though. Never liked him.
December 29, 20159 yr unfortunately I was spoilt that Han was killed by his son (so as soon as it was revealed in the film that Kylo Ren was Han's son I already knew what would happen there) although that was largely my own fault for looking at the YouTube comments section for a Star Wars related video. Still really enjoyed the film though!!!
December 30, 20159 yr Well, I saw this yay (and a morning screening allowed it not to be packed woop). Gosh, the FEELS when that orchestra and opening crawl came on  This was really good, lived up to the hype exactly, the new characters were great (wasn't mad on the pilot guy though, felt a bit archetypal but Rey and Finn were excellent, and the little droid served as a great replacement for R2-D2) and the old characters have lost none of their charm. Kylo definitely has real potential as a villain, atm 'lesser Darth Vader' seems like something he actually acknowledges and hell, now he's done THAT, that will only hang over him. Not sure how I feel about the Supreme guy, seem like he's more suited to Lord of the Rings than Star Wars! But intrigued to see a bit more from him. I do hope Finn isn't dead either as that ending was ambiguous I will agree with the criticisms though, a lot of the film did basically seem like A New Hope in terms of characters and scenes and planets, in fact, it was from that that I guessed that Han would be killed by Kylo, the set up was just pointing to that and echoes of the Obi Wan-Darth Vader scene was so strong. I feel that could have been handled a bit better, the reaction did seem a bit muted but I think I'd prefer that than something completely different that changes things too much (what certain prequel does that remind me of ), most of it worked well as a homage rather than a rip off. Hoping Episode VIII doesn't embody V exactly, but for now, I'm happy with this I'd give it a 9 I think, the slight lack of fresh ideas brings it down from a 10 but pretty much everything else was perfect.
