Whose excited??????!!!!!

I'm planning on going Friday/Saturday. Early buzz says it's the third best entry in the series (behind episodes 4 and 5), it's not without its faults but it's a great movie.

I'm VERY excited. Will probably watch it in the first week. The rush for opening night tickets seems to be excessive from talking to people I know. It's going to be HUGE and I couldn't be happier. Even if it does turn out to be dire.

So excited for this, 8 days for me now!!

Never watched the movies properly so going through them at the moment. Watched Phantom Menace & Attack Of The Clones yesterday and adored both (these are meant to be the weakest aren't they as well?). So fun and enjoyable and loved the plot and visual effects of both

However how annoying is Jar Jar Binks, gosh!!

Buzz seems that it's anything but dire! Review embargo until tomorrow, but everything I've seen so far is very positive.

Jeez - if you loved Phantom Menance & Attack of the Clones you'll love the rest. I don't think they're bad films, but just compared to the others there's no comparison!

Phantom Menace is actually my favourite but I'm a bit weird (it's because it's so easy to watch, it's atypical in structure and it's not as grandiose subject-wise as the other films). Attack Of The Clones is, on the other hand, my least-favourite because so little happens until the final half hour.

But yes Ultra, you'll love the rest, especially as some people don't even watch 1 & 2 once they get to their 36th runthrough of the machete order or whatever Star Wars superfans do these days.

I'm really excited! I love all 6 films and I imagine this will be no exception going by the reviews. I can't even pick an all time favourite because I love a different one each time on rotation. Probably Return of the Jedi at the moment since I just watched them all in chronological order and that one got me most hyped for the new film. The next 48 hours cannot go quickly enough for me.
PS Jar Jar is annoying but hardly as awful as everyone makes out IMHO.
Only seen the original 3 films (for the first time) within the last week or so! Not done the prequels yet, but I'll wait until after this one. Really enjoyed them! Much more than I ever thought I would. Very excited for this one and I am booked in to the midnight showing tomorrow night!

Just pre-ordered tickets to the Thursday premiere at my theater! Gonna be so pumped!

Lupita spilled the beans on her role on The Force Awakens during her interview on Kelly And Michael last Friday, gonna be pretty excited whenever she shows up

I'm going tonight (well, tomorrow morning) at 00:05 *.*

I've rewatched them all in anticipation and it's got me really really excited. I'd probably rank/rate them thusly:

01 Return Of The Jedi

02 The Empire Strikes Back

03 Revenge Of The Sith

04 A New Hope

05 The Phantom Menace

06 Attack Of The Clones

I know everyone is high on Empire, but I genuinely cannot place a film with THAT Dagobah scene as the best. That aside it is flaw free, but it's like having a Ferrari and saying it's flaw free when you have a massive scratch all over the bonnet.

The general feeling also seems to be filling me with hope too, in that is IS very much like the original trilogy. Granted I've been being excessively negative after the mauling JJ gave Trek, but this one seems to ring more true to what was so good about the original, just updated.

I've always thought of Revenge Of The Sith as the best. Probably because it ties everything together so easily and it gives a true identity to Darth Vader's pain.

Also this:

my brother and dad are going to the midnight screening of this in london tonight. i'm being more sensible and waiting til the weekend to see it locally with my friend :P nonetheless i'm exciteddd

I saw a midnight show of this in Australia this morning. Best Star Wars since Empire is absolutely right.

I was so worried they were going to screw it up - I'd seen all six at the cinema going right back to the Special Editions in 1997, and the prequels all on the day of release, so there's no way I could miss this. To my relief they did an awesome job, the perfect mix of childhood nostalgia for the oldies plus enough action to get the new fans on board. Reviews are already extremely strong so if the positive word of mouth spreads enough - like it did for Skyfall - this could be one of the highest grossing films of all time! Definitely worth the watch :D

Re the order, btw - don't do 1-2-3-4-5-6 (and now 7) as the surprise twists of the originals are meaningless when they're already revealed in the prequels. 4-5-6-1-2-3-7 (production order) isn't ideal either, thanks to that jarring jump in time from 3 to 7 and the general quality drop from 6 to 1.

The best order is 4-5-1-2-3-6-7. The best two movies first, an extended "flashback" after the big revelations of Episode 5 containing all the prequels, a short jump back to Return of the Jedi to finish the original trilogy and then Episode 7's huge return to form. Some suggest skipping episode 1 altogether and just jumping from 5 to 2, but I'd still check it out to see what the fuss was about. And then presumably 8 and 9 whenever they're released!

Absolutely fantastic. Really surprised that it actually managed to live up to the hype. The new cast have amazing chemistry already and all the characters are just incredibly likeable. Plenty of action, twists and turns! Very, very good and I'm looking forward to having time to truly take it all in.

Ok, detail time.

It isn't perfect, I mean THAT scene in the oscillator alone is going to be a divisive one for some time I reckon. It was leagues ahead of the reboot of Star Trek, thankfully. This time JJ and co managed to capture the energy, joy and feel of the original perfectly whilst updating it well too. I love Rey, so much energy and attitude but incredibly likeable and Daisey Ridley is surely going to do well for herself after this because she owned the screen any time she was on it. Finn is is very good too, less sold on Poe, but then I dislike Oscar Isaac so he was always starting at a disadvantage.

Story wise it pays more than a nod to A New Hope, it's obviously not a remake, but it's far closer than I'd have imagined. That, of course, plays to it strengths, and the plot is tight and the movie well paced. It had a lot of work to do introducing a whole raft of new characters and a whole new world and it did it whilst also being a joy to watch which is a difficult balance to strike.

Starkiller base looked amazing, even if you'd have thought the First Order would have worked out if you can't make it impregnable then you damn well need to have it well defended. Snoke slipped in Gollum mode a little too often for my tastes and right now he seems more of a ludicrous villain than Palpatine ever did (even during his transformation!). I do like how Stormtroopers are actually good at their jobs now, or at least not as terrible as they were before, especially with the intense training Hux seems to be giving them. Good old Brienne needed more to do, but I trust that will come in VIII.

Some negatives,

]I felt the reaction to HAN SOLO being DEAD wasn't quite as big as it should have been (especially not from Leia), JJ getting his planet destroyer hat back wasn't in itself bad, but again I felt like it wasn't really a big enough THING. I mean, assuming they didn't move the republic/senate after ROTJ then Coruscant is surely still HUGELY populated? Like billions died and it got a millisecond reaction. Also, I was hoping for more of a celebration than them all standing outside the shitty RAF base (which looked utterly shit compared with the imaginative bases of 4 and 5) waving the Falcon off

None of them are movie breakers of course, hence the 9, just things that irked me.

Oh and

I hope she isn't his daughter, that would be too much

I loved it, like I wasn't going to. VERY similar to ANH but it was just different enough for it not to matter. I was very impressed with the new cast although Captain Phasma was pretty redundant. I saw most of the twists coming and now I'm thirsty for more.
