November 10, 201212 yr I am thinking maybe Owl City with 'Umbrella Beach' might be in with a fighting chance. Has Goyte released a follow-up surely that's the worst record? "Motownphilly" has dated VERY badly...yet they were the best male group of that time. "Famous" is a jolly if true song (especially aimed at the TOWIE twats). Scouting for Girls are a decent group. Kesha, I've never been keen on. Steve Brookstein maybe....."Fighting Butteflies" made #196 or something like that?
November 10, 201212 yr Has Goyte released a follow-up surely that's the worst record? The incredible Eyes Wide Shut criminally did nothing
November 10, 201212 yr Loved Good Life! Such a shame. never heard of that Will Smith song though, says it all...
November 10, 201212 yr If Alone Again did make #1 then I think she'd be a contender for the top.
November 10, 201212 yr The incredible Eyes Wide Shut criminally did nothing  OPEN Nice movie btw
November 10, 201212 yr I am thinking maybe Owl City with 'Umbrella Beach' might be in with a fighting chance. Well, it wasn't that track anyways. :P The song I'm thinking dates back quite a few years and to be honest, it's a miracle I still vaguely remember it, it really was a shocking follow up.
November 10, 201212 yr My least favourite follow up to a #1 smash was Spiller's Cry Baby in 2001, absolutely abysmal noise and probably ranks in my top 20 worst songs ever, Groovejet is close to the equivalent top 20 in my favourite songs ever!
November 10, 201212 yr I might be wrong, but I'd imagine the winner of this will be something from before the digital age (or at the latest the mid-00's). Because now songs with low chart positions can at least trickle sell for ages. A song that misses the top 100 can sell tens of thousands, whilst that was probably very rare before.
November 10, 201212 yr Not as dramatic, but Cornershop maybe? I believe their follow-up was in the mid 20s to "Brimful of Asha"? Sak Noel? I remember their follow-up was EXACTLY the same as "Loca People" but "Nini" said instead of "Johnny"!
November 10, 201212 yr Well I thought I'd avoid mentioning it as otherwise it spoils the potential shock factor of "wow, I never thought of that being no. 1" but the song I'm thinking of is the abysmal 'I Got A Girl' by Lou Bega. He should've left it at 'Mambo No. 5' and be a genuine ace one hit wonder. :D (but he didn't so  ) Although thinking about it, did 3 Of A Kind (of 'Babycakes' fame :manson: ) ever have a second hit?

November 10, 201212 yr Eamon - I'm sure "Love Them Hoe's" (hypocritical considering he called his girl a ho in "f*** It") was a flop. Frankee I don't believe she EVER released a follow-up. My Dad had her album, very generic R and B and could have been potential with the right material.
November 11, 201212 yr Taio Cruz released No Other One after Break Your Heart which I seem to remember was practically identical, just with different (and not catchy) lyrics! Probably his biggest flop of the last few years!
November 11, 201212 yr Author I DO NOT HOOK UP- KELLY CLARKSON http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/b/b4/IDoNotHookUp.jpg PEAK POSITION: 36 SALES: 51K FOLLOW UP TO: MY LIFE WOUDL SUCK WITHOUT YOU Poor Kelly, on paper this SHOULD work, co-written by Katy Perry and very much in the vein of her No 1 “My Life Would Suck Without You” but to be honest it just hasn’t quite got that va-va-vom and could just make the 50k mark and was at the time her lowest peaking single. MORAL OF THE STORY: EVEN KATY PERRY CAN’T GUARANTEE YOU A HIT AaafMpqXXBs
November 11, 201212 yr Author REMEMBERING THE FIRST TIME- SIMPLY RED http://www.12inch.de/l/7915.jpg PEAK POSITION: 22 SALES: 48K FOLLOW UP TO: FAIRGROUND A mixed blessing here, respectable sales thanks to the Christmas market, however it failed to make the top 20. Obviously the fact that the band finally got their first No 1 single after 10 years of trying prompted them to have a bash at the festive number one but this fell woefully short, inoffensive enough but hardly festive. MORAL OF THE STORY: NOT EVERYONE WANTS TO HEAR ABOUT YOUR FIRST TIME- ESPECIALLY IF YOU’RE MICK HUCKNELL Xm9UBT4Vd3k
November 11, 201212 yr Author TURN AROUND (5,4,3,2,1)- FLO RIDA http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/f/fe/Turn_Around_(5,_4,_3,_2,_1).jpg PEAK POSITION: 41 SALES: 46K FOLLOW UP TO: CLUB CAN'T HANDLE ME Yeah objectifying woman and woman writhing around in a pornographic manner, all charges that this video faced by viewers who registered complaints with MTV and 4Music when it was first screened. Sometimes a little controversy helps a record but not here. MORAL OF THE STORY: MAKE WOMAN WEAR LESS IN POP PROMO’S kei20Et5Kuo
November 11, 201212 yr I Do Not Hook Up is possibly my favourite Kelly Clarkson song! It's much better than some of her big hit singles, including My Life Would Suck Without You. Brilliant video too! "Aren't these strawberries delicious?"
