September 24, 201311 yr Of course they're similar  I thought that was undisputed knowledge, it's got nothing to do with the quality of the tracks.
September 24, 201311 yr if you make music that generic and like everything else being made you can expect some easy comparisons... if she actually had faith in her own record maybe she wouldn't have to defend herself so much.
September 24, 201311 yr To be fair, it's hardly as if Last Friday Night was a musical innovation either... But then Katy Perry doesn't kick off like this I guess
September 24, 201311 yr katy knows what she is, and can perform EXACTLY how she's needed. last friday night is an absolutely brilliant song because it's the least pretentious you could probably get... jessie just takes her 'output' far too seriously and throws in more soppy cliches than a primary school poem. plus ofc thinks she can whitney / mariah every song when she can hardly whisper it without offending ears.
September 24, 201311 yr Right... They were both released within two months of each other, and they'll both have written them long before, so I don't think she's ripped it off. Don't see the similarity myself either - maybe because Last Friday Night >>>>>>> (x10000) >>> Domino 'Last Friday Night' was released about 7-8 months before. (Plus it was already on her album nearly two years before)
September 24, 201311 yr 'Last Friday Night' was released about 7-8 months before. (Plus it was already on her album nearly two years before) Pretty sure it was June for LFN and August for Domino, was it not?
September 24, 201311 yr SEXY LADY is bloody amazing idec and I love Excuse My Rude. But the album hasn't caught my attention yet, will give it a second listen once it's on my iPhone.
September 24, 201311 yr Pretty sure it was June for LFN and August for Domino, was it not? Yes, I think Silver got confused because 'Domino' was released far later in the UK. Not that I think "official" release dates matter - 'Domino' could have been finished within the last fortnight before its release and there's no reason it couldn't have been a rip off of an album track in the first place, especially when you take into account who shares production credits on both 'Domino' and 'Last Friday Night'.
September 24, 201311 yr OK I've never been a massive Jessie J fan and I think It's My Party is a pretty poor single... but I've just listened to the album and to my complete shock, I actually LIKED it :o there are a couple of filler tracks, especially towards the end, but otherwise I found it quite listenable. And she doesn't screech too much either, which is a bonus! 'Thunder', 'Gold' and 'Square One' were my highlights. So that's my confession of the day. What's yours?
September 24, 201311 yr Nowhere near as good an album as Who You Are imo, probably mainly because there is more ballads and personal songs on the debut which I tend to prefer and there are quite a few generic dancey tracks on this album, overall though its still a good album and I do think that she really hasn't released the best singles choices so far at all, I think Thunder, Gold, Square One, I Miss Her and Conquer The World are a few of my standouts atm.
