November 25, 201212 yr Top 40 in 'dominated by young people' shocker. Is it really that different from how it used to be from five or ten years ago though? I don't think so...
November 25, 201212 yr Author And the biggest non-shock of the day, is I am younger than everyone in the chart! I think I'll start to feel old when a 1997+ baby gets to #1. Willow Smith was so close to doing it the other year :drama:
November 25, 201212 yr That's just awful. I'm older than all but 3 of them. That's 3 more than me... :drama:
November 25, 201212 yr Is it really that different from how it used to be from five or ten years ago though? I don't think so... I doubt it. And I suspect it has always been the case. The pre rock 'n' roll era charts (prior to 1955) probably had a somewhat higher age though.
November 25, 201212 yr I'm not exactly shocked, Radio 1 haven't exactly made a secret of the fact they won't playlist people like Madonna and Kylie now because of their age. So I'm just younger than Ellie Goulding, but marginally older than Emeli Sandé.
November 25, 201212 yr To be fair, are there many older acts that actually have singles out at the moment, that would realistically ever make the top 40?
November 25, 201212 yr ...ok the amount of people younger than me in that list is somewhat troubling. I'm sure the first act to have a number 1 who was born after me was Sean Kingston in 2007, although JoJo came close in 2004 ('Leave (Get Out)' got to #2). And now look at them all!! I'm in between two members of The Wanted...
November 25, 201212 yr I'm much older than all of them :( At least that will change once The Pogues re-enter in the next week or two. However, we could also see people in next week's top 40 younger than the entire Buzzjack membership.
November 25, 201212 yr Have fun looking for age data of everyone at Ladywell Primary School :kink: This is quite interesting, I knew Maroon 5's members were fairly old compared to most current chart stars but that's strange they have one member who's nearly 10 years older than all the rest. Also odd that three of the top 10 are rappers (will.i.am, PSY, Wiley)... Bieber still the youngest in the top 40 some 3 years after he first charted :drama: Edited November 25, 201212 yr by Bré
November 25, 201212 yr Younger than them all. Definitely prefer most who are in the lower end of that list. P!nk's the oldest one I like and then there's no-one till Lana Del Rey.
November 25, 201212 yr Author Nicky Minaj born in 1984  she is much older She could be, wikipedia gave 2 possible dates  1982 and 1984, I decided in the end to use the younger one :P
November 25, 201212 yr She could be, wikipedia gave 2 possible dates  1982 and 1984, I decided in the end to use the younger one :P Considering on facts, that she graduated her high school in 2000, and Drake graduated from high school at the age of 25, she's definetely older than 28.
November 25, 201212 yr Also odd that three of the top 10 are rappers (will.i.am, PSY, Wiley)... It's not that weird at all imo. Look how old Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, Eminem, Kanye West, Jay-Z, 50 Cent, etc. are. They're all 35+ I think. They were all in the charts together at some point during 2011 I'm sure (when Right There, Buzzin, E.T., I Need a Doctor, Sweat were out), so if we did this then the top 40 would've looked a lot older I think. As someone else was saying, there's not many of the popular older artists have hits out atm. Edited November 25, 201212 yr by Eric_Blob
