March 7, 201312 yr Desperate. Time to pull out or give it to someone who gives a damn about Eurovision.
March 7, 201312 yr You keep saying this again and again. Why on earth should we pull out just because we do badly? It's not like we lose much by entering.
March 7, 201312 yr Yet another disaster for the UK - with another old has been. - Bottom 5 again I fear. A piece of trivia - what's the connection between Bonnie Tyler and 2000 entrant Nicki French (and she didn't do well either coming 16th) Both have had hits with Total Eclipse Of The Heart - Tyler's version was #1 30 years ago this week Edited March 7, 201312 yr by euro music
March 7, 201312 yr Looks like I'm going to be flying the flag for Germany again. Ana Matronic being a semi-final host is wonderful news however!
March 7, 201312 yr What a complete non-event of a song, we'll be no higher than 21st on the night. Hopefully Cascada get put on after our entry!
March 7, 201312 yr It's a nice song, a bit boring though. Can get alot of points from Norway, Bonnie Tyler WAS a huge star here in the 80's and 90's.
March 7, 201312 yr I think it's fairly clear the BBC arent interested in winning as they will have to pay a fortune to host during times of cutbacks, but they are keen to boost the viewing numbers, which famous names do. That's my theory anyway. I actually thought Engelbert's was a great song/vocal on record, but image counts for a lot when it's down to votes on the night (ignoring the rubbish biased juries of course who knocked Blue down from 4th in the phone votes to 11th)...hey ho, if it does middling well that'll be a decent result...
March 7, 201312 yr Well I LOVE it. A lot better than the song last year, seems to be more to it and doesn't sound as outdated imo. Vocal performance is another matter but I have confidence that she can at least get a better result than Engelbert [/smallpositives]
March 7, 201312 yr Well we are obviosuly holding out for a zero then... :D Popchartfreak is right, I think the BBC aren't fussed about winning, but rather send a well known name instead. The song is utterly unmemorable, how she performs on the night will have little to zero effect on the score... A bottom five placing is on the cards again.
March 7, 201312 yr Well we are obviosuly holding out for a zero then... :D ! i actually can't get over how hilarious this choice is. it's so ill-fitting that it is like genuinely bad katie melua sung by oscar the grouch. ALL THE POINTS
March 7, 201312 yr It really seems the BBC have learnt NOTHING since last year if that choice is anything to go by. Its ridiculous (and I am not one to moan about their choices) Oh well, there's nothing we can do, total eclipse...I'll stop now. Edited March 7, 201312 yr by Chez Wombat
March 7, 201312 yr If this song is as good as Total Eclipse Of A Heart and Holding Out For A Hero, then I am fully backing the UK this year!
March 7, 201312 yr I've heard it and it sounds OK, but this won't come higher than mid-table at least. :(
March 7, 201312 yr It's not actually that bad really, she'll be awful live though. It's quite sad we got excited we could have someone current like Paloma Faith or Jessie J after the clue from Graham Norton, but no we end up with Bonnie Tyler
March 7, 201312 yr I'm really pissed off that we have a terrible song yet again - I love the eurovision but again we can't get excited that a miracle might happen and we might win! We can't even get annoyed when we lose because we know we are shit going in to it! Nothing against having bonnie Tyler do it but the song is just too shit to win... PLEASE can itv buy the rights to the show and sort out BBCs mess soon?
March 7, 201312 yr It's actually quite nice, very professional song and video! :D I do worry about Bonnie's live vocals though, even in the studio version there are backing vocals doing quite a lot of work. Anyway, its definitely a better entry than last year but I doubt it will make the top 15, hopefully I will be proven wrong! Edited March 7, 201312 yr by Ryan.
March 7, 201312 yr What gets me the most about that live clip is that you can hear a backing singer singing the ENTIRE song, even the verses. Is this how they're planning on showcasing the song to Europe? Jedward had their backing singers do all the vocals whilst they added some "voices" (let's face it, you can't call them vocals) over the top. Their selling point was two identical twins with high hair. Bonnie's selling point is...? I still think we'll get 12 from Germany so should at least equal the points Englebert got last year. :D
