who da fuk is Katie?

An amazing singer who got top 300 on iTunes last year based on hype surrounding her single Sweet Sweet Melody.

who da fuk is Katie?

Some singer than Joseph and Ryan741 are obsessed with for some inexplicable reason.

Scream and shout is on repeat! Such an infectious track, which is possibly because of its 9/10 genericness :P .

Will.I.Am and Britney Bitch :w00t:

No Katie Sky top 1500 yet.

Only You isn't on iTunes yet, but Katie is getting it sorted as soon as possible so should be up within a few hours! :D

I just looked back and 'Sweet Sweet Melody' peaked around #223. Hopefully 'Only You' can do as well as that, but it may be a bit lower as it has much less of a build up compared to SSM.

Oh my, has it been that long already! :drama: Brilliant songs, although 5 O'Clock has nothing on Who'd Have Known, the song which is sampled.

Who'd Have Known sampled Shine by Take That aswell.

So maybe if Shine didn't get released then 5 O'Clock would never have existed. Quite a scary thought really! :o

This!! :D

Just in case you are interested, here is the amazing 'Only You' which will be available on iTunes in the next few hours:

1. T-Pain feat. Lily Allen & Wiz Khalifa - 5 O'Clock

2. Flo Rida - Good Feeling

3. Olly Murs - Dance With Me Tonight

Yeah you're right it was a year ago this week that T-Pain was number 1 on iTunes. I don't think he will ever get there again unless he makes a song with Flo Rida or someone like that.

The melt-downs when it got to #1 on iTunes! I don't think I've ever seen so many :manson: smilies before! We need some more non-MOR songs to do well in the charts to get people worked up again.

Flo Rida and T-Pain were gonna collab on Flo Rida's album with LMFAO on a song called Run, but they took T-Pain out and replaced him with some random girl for some reason.

If the current state of the charts is a sign of things to come (i.e. MOR acoustic pop songs making a resurgance), then I think T-Pain will certainly struggle in the charts from now on.

Wow, I love that Only You track! Don't know how else to describe it other than sweet, though. :P

Eric, what is MOR?

We just need someone to sample T-Pain's verses or something in 5 O'Clock, then it would be a song sampling a sample of a song which sampled a sample! :w00t:

MOR = "middle of the road" (i.e. the stuff they play on Capital and Heart) Stuff like Spectrum, On the Floor, We Found Love, Starships, Wild Ones, etc. Basic pop songs in standard verse/chorus structure with nice little melodies and non-offensive lyrics, which seems to be the most popular stuff on here. Anything vaguely "weird" like 5 O'Clock (or other songs like T.H.E., Pass Out, OMG, Champagne Showers, etc.) seems to end up really hated, and causes major melt-downs if successful!

I don't think they play any songs that are not in the charts on Capital or on their TV channel.

A few years ago they used to play loads of non-chart stuff, but now it's very rare. They playlisted Numb by Usher which didn't chart in the end.

How about:

The Staple Singers - This May Be the Last Time

The Rolling Stones - The Last Time

The Andrew Oldham Orchestra - The Last Time

The Verve - Bittersweet Symphony

Jason Derulo - Ridin' Solo

I wonder what the longest ever sampling chain is.

A cool sample in the charts atm if Girl on Fire, which samples the drums from this song:

Daley  311

Calvin Harris/Tinie Tempah - Drinking From the Bottle at #100, it's gonna be 2013's "Titanium" (to a lesser extent), isn't it?

806. Sleigh Ride - fun.

^ lol, didn't notice this before!

Also I Knew You Were Trouble. and Play Hard might do a bit like Titanium. I guess the former is the best comparison, since it was also a promo single and is the only one that has a chance at even getting half of Titanium's chart success I think.

I like Tinie, but Drinking From the Bottle seems like such a non-event to me, I'm not sure if it's going to interest people. Play Hard is a little bit better, and we know the instrumental of it will go down well with the public, given how massive the original was!
